Why do we need to pay again???

So I preordered the imperial digital edition, which is supposed to include 30 days. Now I saw when I started the launcher that I need to setup my subscription plan.

So I visited the site, chose paysafe card, and then it asks me for a payment, right now. Did I not understand correctly? Or do I need to pay until the 6th of April for the month starting after the 30 free days?

Let's say i haven't preordered the game. Let's say I don't have it right now. So, I go to a store today, buy the game, some guy there informs me that 30 days are included in the price of 55 Euros. So I go home and try to play, only to find out that I have to pay NOW my subscription for the next month???

Do you people in Zenimax understand that this is almost illegal? You sold me a game, and promised me 30 free days INCLUDED in the price I paid. Until those days are over, why do I have to pay you A CENT? After all that happened with the "5 days early access" which turned out to be a joke, do you really want to do that? Tell us - either pay for the second month in 2 days, or no game, no 30 free days as promised?"

I was wondering the same... I hope that will include the 30 days which I already payed by pre-ordering.

It does include the 30 days. There are two things going on here:

1.) People not understanding the monthly model. You almost *always* need to give them a credit card for billing before you can even start the game. Because so many games are now F2P, people have forgotten this.

2.) They screwed up by having credit cards authorize a $15 payment when you enter a card. Even though the authorization should drop off after a day, I've never had this happen before, so people are naturally confused.

Solution is prty simple..I remember similar move from Mythic and warhammer online..U dont need to pay a cent..just get to the end of sub options [no game time cards] and after change sub to gamecard or remove at all..time will remain till u finish ur 30 days and u wont be charged for another month until u make that happen by urself.Hope i explained it.

It seems as well thought out as the Imperial Edition *bug*-up. ZeniMax, where tradition endures.

I have the same issue. When I try to activate my collectors edition code which is supposed to include 30 free days, they ask me for my credit card details to setup a subcription plan, which is fine, BUT then they try to charge me 17$ (I get the notification from my bank). WTF?

Actually if you read the detail in your "Account Summary"(right hand side down the buttom of details) you will find you have 29 days left on your subscription and on May (insert 30 days from sub sign up)) it will bill you for said amount you selected, for me i selected the 90 days for $42, so on may 4th it will be billed to my pre-paid CC.
Your free month is still free, other wise in 30days they would be saying you subscription has ended and you need to choose a recurring sub.
That is why they are asking you to do it now.

your account summary page should look like this.

Unfortunately this is pretty commonplace in the MMO market - in order to assist in retaining players, studios will force you to have a recurring subscription upon signing up for the first time (even if you have free time on your account.) World of Warcraft did the same thing when they started, as have many other MMOs.

The unique thing here, which makes it even more unfortunate, is it appears that with a PaySafeCard, that $15 authorization will stay in your account and you will be charged for the additional month (per the first sticky in this forum). I would be willing to bet, however, that if you are playing during your free month, and don't want to continue playing for a second month, Zenimax will be able to refund the $15 for the second month upon you entering a ticket into the system.

I would just take the charge (assuming you can afford it), play for the first 30 days and see how you feel about the game, and then decide if you want to contact Zenimax to get a refund on the extra month charge.

You are wrong because when I enter my code and credit card details and click 'accept' I get a message from my bank that zenimax is trying to charge my account and when I block it the ESO website says 'The transaction was not authorized' and doesn't redeem my code.
Why do they try to charge me money if the first 30 days are free. (I have a collectors edition code)

Well my card hasn't be charged, it states in the picture i added that i will; be billed on may 4th and not any time before this.
I also have the Imperial edition.

As to them charging your car, it's proably some sort of checking system to make sure the cards legit and that it has funds.

PS: I haven't been asked to enter any code for my free 30 days and as you can see in the screen shot i post it's already in my account.
and that was there yesterday with 30 days remaining and i only added my card this morning, Friday the 4th ( 12:30am Australian Time)

You are declining the authorization, which in Zenimax's eyes appears as if you aren't giving them correct billing information. Zenimax basically "charges" your credit card to verify that it is valid billing information, but then they don't process the charge to actually have it go through on your statement. This happens all the time when you are purchasing things for the first time online - but normally they only authorize a $1 charge. The $15 may appear in your Pending charges, but will not appear on your statement.

Should read the announcement posts. That transaction is just a temp to verify your credit card. In some cases it may charge you but again reading that thread will inform you of whats going on.
