Just wanted to thank the PC folk for porting their add-ons to console! You've no idea how great just having a minimap, lorebook and skyshards revealed are, such a huge QOL improvement. Thank you guys/gals so much 💚

I play on PC but I’m so happy this day has finally come for console players. I can barely play without a mini-map and some of the other quality of life features add-ons have provided, and if ESO had been a console-only game I wouldn’t be here today. 😊

HUGE thank you! I always wished for the resource pins in the world every time I saw them on PC gameplay videos. So lovely!
I've also discovered some really useful ones like Auto Interact and Auto repair/recharge.
Skyshards will be useful too especially with subclassing.
    Thanks again!

Some seem to crash for me atm. For example I was excited for permanent mementos but it crashes as soon as I enter combat.

Addons can be both a blessing and a curse. Addons that are constantly functioning like mini-maps are generally a trade-off between performance and features. If you choose to use an addon, make sure you truly benefit from the features provided.

Unless ZOS changed this over the years, and I'm not sure they can, LUA is single threaded so the performance hit of active addons is cumulative -- which was confirmed by ZOS_AlexTardif, a graphics programmer at ZOS.

This manifests as microstutter which likely won't be observable in performance monitor tools outside of tools like nvidia's FCAT, but can certainly be felt.

I used to envy console players because they would play the game, but on PC it often feels like we're playing addons. I've been in PC trial cores with former console players and definitely learned to respect them.

I'll admit, I didn't think id like the Minimap as much as I do, AND it hides the compass to boot, so one less thing on the screen.

I already noticed the Minimap causes the game to chug a little, but theres a setting to prioritize framerate over map update polling which completely fixed it without making the minimap seem laggy at all.

The list of day one addon ports isn't that extensive. I've only decided to use the Minimap and the one that color codes tool tips.

I am looking forward to using a few addons as well. I plan to keep the list minimal for performance reasons, and I figured I would give it a few days to work the kinks out from the porting. Since the update the game performance has taken a steep decline even without them for me.

Echoing this. Thank you to all of the add-on creators for doing the work to get their add-ons to console! We've been seeing a ton of positive feedback about add-ons because of your hard work.

How addons affect the game depends on the addons you use and to some extent how you have them set up. If you feel like you're playing the addons instead of the actual game and that bothers you the solution is to change your addon setup.

Some veteran trials are just way easier to do with a specific trial add on. Just look at the newest trial Ossein Cage. With the duo boss, an add-on just shows everyone where to stand. But on console, without this add-on, it is often total chaos, as there are always players who don't know where to stand to get the mechanics right.

I understand that playing without those trial add-ons, it is a cleaner more authentic run. But seeing that more are more crazy mechanics are being put into the trials, it's sometimes getting a bit too crazy without add-ons. So, I do hope that those trial add-ons can also come over to console.

I don't know if it is available on consoles but my favorite add-on is WPamA. Makes it easy to decide which character I want to log onto next and what is available for them. Tons of information that is useful even if playing only one character.

I am extremely grateful for all the devs and all the hard work for each and every add-on! We are all having a blast and yesterday, I was in a party with so many of my guidies just laughing and sharing and testing them. Thank you for breathing life back into the consoles! Between this and subclassing, I've had enough social time for the year 🤣 kidding, I love my group and I'm so happy to hear the excitement with all of them for all our new things!

Totally looking forward to getting some raid add-ons!! Pretty please?! 🥹

PC player myself, but on the odd occasion I've played without addons... well, you console players have my sincerest respect. I think many PC'ers take addons for granted and have gotten used to so many QoL improvements that they offer, that we forget how grindy and awkward the base-game can be without them.

So, yeah, respect to you console folks who have stuck it out over the years.

It's not that simple because when one plays with others, they need to adapt to the group paradigm. Though I think it would be much more interesting to play trials without addons, it would put me at a significant competitive disadvantage, inflate my error rate and thus affect my teammates. It's not practical.

That's my point and why I have so much respect for my guildmates who now play on pc, but completed most trifectas on console.

I don't know the tank/healer pov, but vOC is pretty easy without the specific oc addons once one knows the mechs. Or even without knowing the mechs: I was in a chaotic blind run that cleared day one without anyone in our group having a decent understanding of the mechs. It was so much fun to figure it out on the fly. I've since learned the mechs pretty well and it's not a difficult trial. The last boss fight is pretty crazy while learning it though.

On the other hand, in vAS+2 and vCR+3, I feel like addons are carried me for a while.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating the removal of addons. I'm just giving props to console players who have completed challenging content without them.

I did vAS +2 on console years ago, it honestly broke me and hardly done any trials since! :D

I'd like to say a massive thank you to all the addon devs too, who worked so hard to fix and update everything after it was such a hot mess day one. I've even been surprised how much i love some of them already, like the minimap which I didn't even expect to use

This may be an unpopular take, but....

A lot of addons, in my opinion, water down the experience of playing the game and lesson the immersion of exploring the wonderful world Zos has created.

How much 'help' does one really need to find resources and skyshards! We already get told where to find the different kinds of resources and have the option to make them subtly glow when we're near them. As for skyshards, they give us a written clue for every single one and they appear on the compass when we get near one.

Those examples and others like them don't really affect non users, and any negative effects to those that do (like the dilution of gameplay for short term convenience) is subjective, and I acknowledge that.

However, any addon that can make encounters easier for its users, like the Trial one mentioned earlier in this thread, should absolutely not be allowed in the game! How many speed runs, no death and trifecta leader board placements have been (and would be if such addons come to console) enabled due to use of addons?

There are even addons that can tell you the stats of and gear being used by another player in pvp.

I'm a console player, and as such can only guess (for now at least) at the impact such addons have on other players, but I can't help the term 'unfair advantage' coming to mind.

So, no hate aimed at anyone, just my humble opinion on something I think can greatly impact our enjoyment of the game, whether we use addons or not.

I play ESO on both PC and PS5, and I'm honestly enjoying the add-ons more on console. It's so nice to have everything in-game and not have to worry about manually updating files. Awesome change.
