Multiple companions in instanced content

Would you like to see ZOS implement support for multiple companions in instanced content, such as 4-person dungeons, to allow a player to solo with 3 active companions?

Before ESO, and even before Skyrim, I played a LOT of Dragon Age: Origins, which has a very nice system for running 1 player character and 3 companion NPCs. I would love it if I could summon 3 companions while in a 4-person dungeon; the fun and challenge of spec'ing them out to solo the instances would be a fun new dimension to the game, and might not be too difficult for the dev team to implement.

This is what i've been saying they should do for story mode dungeons:

Literally give a solo player the option to use their 3 companions of their choosing at pre-determined roles where they path through the dungeon and interact with story elements. That'd be super cool.

I'm also in favor of this for limiting queues in normal dungeons (not vet, but maybe base game vet... just definitely not DLC), where if you're queued for 15 minutes for instance, and still waiting on a tank, an NPC will fill that slot as a tank and path through the dungeon. That way the other 3 people can at least get in the dungeon and not be in queue forever and when a tank is found, they take the place of that NPC.

I'm entirely neutral on the concept except for lulz for which I vote yes.

(I actually think there should be an explicit story-mode for dungeons that only lets you complete the quest, doesn't give you set drops, and uses undaunted NPCs though).

That would be good for those of us who actually want to experience the dungeon story.

The multi-companion option would be interesting to see how long until someone used a Telvanni Efficiency setup to "solo" DLC hard-modes.

I mean i'd have them take a significantly less amount of damage from mechanics like that, but it still remain a one shot for the player and if the player dies, the fight is reset.

Having more than one Companion active at a time would make the Telvanni Efficiency and Shared Burden sets much more useful. Though, I wonder which Companion gets to speak first after combat ends — would all of them chime in at once?

This is an idea I’ve mentioned several times, I’m totally in agreement with this and wish it would happen. The similar system WoW has for soloing dungeons with 3 npcs is a blast.

Many more dungeons than most people realize can be solo'd. There is a fairly high gear and skill level required for the newer ones, but as long as there's not a hard group check, dungeons can be cleared even without a companion. At least, on Normal.

This is why I always lobby for hard group checks to be removed in normal mode dungeons. If progress blockers were removed from dungeons like Direfrost or ICP, that'd alleviate a lot of pain points about experiencing the dungeons. Adjusting boss mechanics to prioritize targeting NPC companions would do the rest.

That being said, I'd enjoy taking multiple NPCs through dungeons, purely for the novelty if nothing else. Gearing up and setting out with a full party sounds fun.

They would absolutely have to do a big complete companion AI redesign but I would think letting players do at least normal dungeons with 3 of their companions would be very nice for a lot of people

FFXIV does it just fine... and considering how many people keep asking for 'Story Mode' dungeons, this could all be resolved by simply allowing us to use our own companions on regular dungeons. I don't know why ZOS is dragging their feet on this.

The only reason I would want this is if the companions had banter with each other, but I want that enough to vote "yes" on this poll. From a gameplay perspective, I find that the impact of companions is small enough that I doubt it'd matter if I had one or three.

I'm coming from GW in which we had heroes and henchies and it was soooooo great. In GW2 later, I terribly missed it.

It never prevented us to team up with real players, but depending on objectives, it was much better to be able to go with a team of NPCs. Main examples: if we wanted to do something at slow pace, or if intention was to test something or go pick up something at a specific location and stop after that (not going to the end of it), or if we knew that real life will interrupt regularly, and so on...

I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

I voted "yes", but they'd also have to re-do how AI works with them.

They scream at you when you stand in AOE, but don't move out of it themselves. Until stuff like this is fixed, they'd quickly die to any bigger mob or a boss, and you're soloing it anyway. Or worse, they (Miri, I'm looking at you) roll away from the boss and reset it.

So, yes, if they are adjusted to be actually helpful in such content

If I was allowed to have 3 companions in a dungeon, I might load up my tank and agro stuff whilst my team whittles down the health bars or gets whittled. Might be funny and/or entertaining or it might inspire make me to return to pugging dungeons again.

I'm kind of doing that right now, although mostly public dungeons and the easier group ones. I have a warden tank with Mirri with only healing and ranged attacks slotted; and a Nightblade hybrid with Azandar (similar setup).

This was the thing I loved about the Dragon Age games - unique banter for each possible choice of companions, and some of it was really good. But they also had much more detailed characters than the ESO companions, who feel a little two dimensional in comparison.
