Empty game since the U46?

Hey

Yes, I also dislike the update, but I try to give it a chance. But I noticed that the new zone is quite empty, no one at the dailies to get them, five people at world bosses... Chat is empty most of the time.

Have they created more instances or is the boycott real?

I bought it but apart from the dailies and the trial haven't done anything yet. Mostly spellscar and dungeons to level my subclass skill lines. And the golden pursuit. After all that is done I probably move to the actual content.

I guess more people are doing the same and some others are waiting for part 2 and a sale before buying (or ESO+)

I think the smart ones are waiting to see what everyone thinks about it all. Wish I had, I pre-ordered on Console without thinking and already regretting it. I definitely didn't learn my lesson from the last few expansions, don't even say the words Incursions or Invulnerability Phases on bosses sigh.

You are in luck. There are no incursions and no invulnerability phases on the 3 world bosses

I've only been to the new zone briefly on PCEU, and not at all yet on PCNA, but I'm definitely not boycotting it. I've just been more focused on reorganizing my storage now that the furnishings vault has given me back so much space, not to mention doing the Golden Pursuits-- which I finished in a day, so that's no longer holding me back-- plus being able to play on my mules alts again to level up all of their skill lines. I should be checking out the new zone in earnest before this weekend, and I'm eager to learn my way around and see how convenient the crafting area is.

Craglorn’s Belkarth has been very empty since the update. Normally people chill there looking for trials.

I'm sorry to tell you but I read on another post that the crafting area is behind doors, think Fargrave where nobody goes. Absolutely no thought put into what players enjoy in that respect.

Most of the players are in Craglorn. Spellscar, Skyreach or they're doing BRP runs trying to max out all the skill lines first before diving into new content. I'm sure they want to play the new content with the new skill combinations they can do instead of playing the new content with the same builds they've had for 10 years

But to answer your question. I dont believe there's a boycott (game isn't dead) but there are definitely people who doesn't favor the update. And with this big of a change coming down the line it was absolutely going to be a divider of some love some hate and both are fine give things some time and everyone will come around

Yes, I think the bigger part of this update was the Subclassing part so that seems to be the primary focus I’m seeing. Since we only got 1/2 of a zone there’s really not much to do in it so I think some people are just waiting. Me, I have started the new zone quest and I’ve been doing the two new zone dailies and there’s always been enough people at the world bosses for us to take them down without me having to wait hardly at all for people to show up. This is usually in the evening hours. But my primary focus has been doing things to level my Subclassed skill lines such as run the daily random dungeons each day.

I run a new trial, talk in the guild chats, chill around with my new subclass build.

Going for a daily in a new zone is the last thing I'd do at least the first month.
I got the chapter to have fun, not to dive into routines

Been less interested in doing the new dailies and world bosses since they began holding back more drops for them till later in the year. Why farm them now when ZOS is holding back more new furnishings for 3 months from now and another round of furnishing plans for another 3 months after that?

Quite a few of my guild mates are going full blast getting subclass lines leveled so they can start using them in our trial runs.

My friends and my Battlegrounds guild have all been lively this patch. Lots of people grinding subclass skill lines, sharing builds, and generally chatting. Good 8v8 solo BGs matches as the MMR evens itself out.

Just because they added a new zone doesn't mean everyone is going to rush there. I've been leveling up subclasses and then plan to do the main story quest on my new character and even then may not jump into the new zone, as there is tons of other quests to do besides the new zone.

ZOS intentionally launched the update on a Monday so the enthusiasts can shake out the critical bugs -- and to some degree, get out of the way.

More casual players with less time to spend on ESO face a bit of a hump that many will want to save for their weekends.

But also, I think ZOS planned for this to be a challenging year retaining story content players because they expected the Oblivion Remaster to cannibalize ESO chapter/season sales. TES6 is expected to be on the horizon and would surely affect ESO engagement. I believe this is the reason the annual major update this year is so light compared to others.

I think I can tell from the general client responsiveness that activity has picked up today though.

It is a small part of a zone, I took my time on the quests, listened to all the dialogue, barely used my mount, whited the map excluding the trial which I don't do, finished all that up yesterday.

The lack of a world event like dolmens/dragon/geysers etc... has also reduced the likely hood of any one using the new zone to grind levels.

Now I am focusing more on levelling up the sub class skill lines, while questing on one of my alts to get skill points at the same time, in no rush to return to the new zone any time soon at this point.

The crafting area -and- the turn in are in the same building. Its one of the fastest circuits for crafting in the game, if not the fastest. Khajiit used it for 8 dailies and it was faster than West Weald.

The marketting for the 'Season' was a bad choice as most players associate this with things that will go away.
Making it the same price as full AAA games that spend years and tens of millions of dollars in development has left a very sour taste in players mouths. (Just look at the response for Civ7).
And the small size of the new half zone has meant that most of the people who own this dls have already completed it.

So I see it as a combination of negative factors piling up. For a lot of players (including myself) the fears associated with subclassing sucked the life out of any hype for other things the new dls brought.

I didn't buy the new "season", and I don't plan to buy it. A small part of the new zone, and barely interesting new story not worth the full price. U46 has demotivated me, so my gameplay has been reduced to completing daily crafting writs and daily endeavors. Maybe I'll take a break and dive into the magic of old games from the 2000s...

What I have noticed these last days, is that at times I'm playing, areas are populated same than usual. It's a bit surprising, because usually, when there is a new zone, the places where I wander are empty because all players have gone to discover the new zone. So, it seems to me that many players kept with "old" content for now.

Now of course, it's only an impression based on what I see during my - quite limited - playing time in ESO.

Looks ok to me.

pc-eu is busy for a few hours in the evening which is usual; pc-na seems as busy round the clock.

Can't say I notice much difference that can't be explained in terms of players exploring subclassing and levelling skill trees.
