Why destroy magma armor for the archive?

Greetings, does anyone have a good explanation for the suspension of the Magma Armor's ultimate reg? Especially with the new subclass system, this ability seems less unfair when everyone has access to it, and long runs in the Endless Archive become possible for everyone or every class.

I think it's a shame that, especially compared to the other morph, which remains OP in PvP, this variant only offers a useless damage shield for the group. It's definitely too little for an ultimate, and I think the essence of this ability is being taken away.

Regarding my questions: What alternatives are there with the subclasses to complement or replace the "DK Magma Armor is almost always an active build" in the Archive, or to mitigate the nerf?
Wouldn't you also like to see a unique effect for the armor compared to the other morph? ;)

    Because Soul Harvest will allow players to quickly gain ultimate points, but nerf NB is obviously not in line with the developer's wishes, and nerfing DK is obviously cooler.

    Don't worry, ZOS has also deliberately weakened the Elnofi and Plunderer sets in order to prevent players from obtaining the ultimate point too quickly, because obviously other classes besides NB shouldn't get the ultimate point too quickly. ;)

    Permamagma was never the intended gameplay.

    I know people are excited about their "Arc 40+!" runs, but that does require living in a state where you can shrug off 97% of incoming damage. That's... kind of a cop out. And as such, ZOS is saying that that exploit (which it technically is) is no longer allowed. The idea was that you would eventually get to a place where the enemies just did too much damage or you needed to log off to go to bed, not that players would find workarounds for those things.

    What I'm mad about is that Magma is now objectively, in every possible way, worse than Corrosive. Magma really has nothing going for it anymore since the radius on the "gives damage shield to group memebers" is tiny, so you don't really get anything out of it. Pair that with the nerfs to Battle Roar, and it really feels like ZOS is trying to take away DK's emergency button.

    I can get behind Magma having to have the cooldown. But Magma needs something else now to make it unique over Corrosive - increase the radius on the ally shield, or have it apply some buff to allies, or have it just set health to max, or something.

    Because it is cheesy and basically discouraged almost every other playstyle for higher arcs. If they want it to be "magma archive" they can provide the buff on visions and verses.
    Nothing speaks against making it unique, but the live version is pretty much the equivalent of bringing a gun to a fist fight. That is a text book example of bad design and this adjustment is long overdue.

    Because it was giga-cheese.

    That said, they did this ult dirty with the giga-nerf as there is basically zero use-case left for it now, it's just a worse version of Corrosive and a worse version of Barrier.

    IMO, if they want to make it a group Support-style tank ult they should drop the self-mitigation entirely, and thus the prohibition on ult-gen while the ability is active, and then give the group shield better range (at least 12m), longer duration (30s), better scaling, the ability to target the caster, as well as another interesting buff or effect. Something like Major Evasion would be interesting for both PvE and PvP and would really be useful for learning trials and progression groups, while leaning into the "group tankiness" theme.

    In the usual content probably not. But archive is different there due to the visions.
    You can also reach a uptime of several minutes of buffs and debuffs with a single cast. Like having major heroism up non-stop.
    I thought that was their intention of visions... to help progress on higher stages.

    If they don't want that, then it would have been a smarter move to change the vision and not punishing every dk in tamriel.

    I'm not saying it isn't overpowered, but it's not 97% damage reduction in most cases. It limits incoming damage to 3% of your Max Health.

    Say you have 30k hp, any incoming damage would be capped at 900. So a 30k+ hit would be 97% mitigation sure, but anything less won't be. In fact, you will take almost full damage from most dots.

    Corrosive should lose the mitigation and just be 100k pen with a stronger and larger aoe dot, but no defensive bonuses.
    Magma Shell should have the mitigation plus immunty to all disabling, snare, and immobilization effects but no offensive bonuses.
