Ok, my entire PTS save is missing?

Logged into PTS and im being only given a character creation screen? where is my characters? i wanted to check some changes.

If you last logged in before Monday's maintenance, they did an EU character copy which replaced the copied characters from the NA server. This also essentially reset any progress made before then.

The PTS regularly swaps between a copy of the NA server and a copy of the EU server. This ensures everyone has a chance to try out the new things with their existing characters, but also means everyone except the people who play both equally will have weeks when their normal characters aren't available.

BTW even when it swaps back to the NA server you'll have lost anything you did on the PTS, it will be a fresh copy of the live server. Nothing you do on the PTS will be saved permanently.

I see, this does make sense at least, kind of.

But at the same time it doesn't.. When the PTS was first running it was a truly separate environment, with its own character files and saves.. you made a lvl 50 and could basically use any gear... it was later on that they introduced the copying of the live environments

if they have to swap between EU and NA, then why not just do that old method instead? Instead of swapping between NA and EU, have it run its own save states? Why was the change to a copy of live made in the first place when this is the consequence? With the transmute system its not like the past where you have to give each created character a ton of equipment boxes they have to open, just start off the accounts with all sets stickered and transmutable.

Sigh, oh well.. that was over a decade ago... back when upper Craglorn was still in the PTS so I doubt they would go back now..

Other games i have played run the PTS on a per character copy system... The PTS is treated as a separate account you can copy the characters and inventories from your live of choice. Again, seems better than having to swap between some players having access to their characters and others not.

I think it’s for connivence— players who have their character copied can test quests with characters who’ve done other quests before. Try content using their regular builds immediately. Housing.

I do wish NA wasn’t so screwed with it though. Should have it be NA EU then next patch EU NA and repeat IMO.

The user experience for the PTS is literally nothing but pain.

It begs for quality of life improvements if they want more people to actually test there.
