The Elder Scrolls Online v11.0.3 kicks off week 4 of the PTS Cycle. The main focus of this week's PTS update is to address combat changes for both classes and the upcoming trials sets. Additionally, we have a variety of fixes and improvements to the Seasons of the Worm Cult, Part 1 content. There are more adjustments and fixes for Ossein Cage, and overall quest fixes.

There are also more base game adjustments, including added improvements to the Hero’s Return efforts. Overall, you will find fixes for Fallen Banners, High Isle, Solstice, and Base Game content in this week’s patch notes.

We have copied all PC EU characters for usage during week four of PTS. As always, feel free to provide feedback on PTS v11.0.3 through our feedback and bug threads, located here. The update is 717.88MB.

    Hero’s Return
    • We updated the Hero’s Return adventure to be an official quest.
      • Now, when you arrive in the Aetherian Archive after accepting Vanus Galerion’s invitation from the Hero’s Return pop-up, you will have to accept the quest from Vanus to be able to continue through the experience.
        • [Developer Comment]:
We found some of you could feel a bit lost without the more traditional quest guidance about where to go next, so we have smoothed out this experience and helped provide a cleaner flow to help players feel like they are on the right path.
    • Damage shield visuals have been updated in the encounters and provide better reinforcement when following the tutorial prompts. You can see when progress is being made in the encounters.
    • Adjusted the timing of the ability bar overrides and sprint tutorial in the Hero's Return adventure to provide a window for you to set your own skills if desired.
    • You now need to complete 2 quests in the Hero's Return Campaign titled "Ride Out to Adventure.”
    • Resolved an issue where the Hero's Return Campaign "Better Together" would not reward the second milestone reward when claiming it.
    • Improved the behavior of the Hero’s Return Announcement panels in older tutorial zones (for the rare characters still present in those zones), to reduce UI distractions until you're done with the tutorial, similar to Soul Shriven in the Coldharbour tutorial.
    • Updated the Rededication help entry to cover the following:
      • Various rededication shrine cultural names
      • A few more example shrine locations
      • Respec scroll behavior
      • Bahtra at-Hunding's rededication services
      • Corrected previously incorrect shrine setup in the Solstice Cathedral.

    Attack Animations
    • Though many more animations have been fixed from the previous PTS, some abilities still contain extraneous movement, particularly in the extremities (hands, tails, weapons, feet, etc.) which looks like twitching, shaking, or overly abrupt movements.
    • If casting while running diagonally, the character can be pointing up to 45 degrees away from the target (most obvious with ranged attacks). This is a more exaggerated version of an issue that has always existed. The final fix will keep you facing your target.

    combat-and-abilities.png
    General
    • Abilities that are traditionally referred to as “beams” have all been updated to now be considered Direct Damage, rather than Damage over Time. This affects the following abilities;
      • Radiant Destruction and morphs
      • Fatecarver and morphs
      • Soul Strike and morphs
      • Vampiric Drain and morphs
    • Fixed an issue where some abilities did not clear their reported duration upon ending when using the Ability Timers setting.
    Classes
    • Arcanist
      • Curative Runeforms
        • Arcanist's Domain: Updated the tooltip for this ability and its morphs to improve the abilities functionality for gaining the effects. The tooltips now specify you are given the effects for entering the area – rather than standing in the area at any time.

          [Developer Comment]
This adjustment is rather minor in appearance but gets into how many ground-based effects with persistency operate - particularly in the case of target acquisition and target caps. Typically, unless an ability states otherwise, target caps for effects are limited to the first 6 entities that meet the sorting behaviors the ability in question has. In the context for this ability, if 7 allies enter the area all around the same time, the first 6 who enter the area are granted the buffs, and the 7th ally will receive nothing - as this ability now correctly follows the standard of having a 6-person target cap. If one of the 6 allies who has the buff leaves the area and loses the buff, the 7th ally will not immediately receive the effect - since the validation of when the area grants its effects is handled when a target enters the area.

    • Dragonknight
      • Ardent Flame
        • Searing Strike: Reduced the cost of this ability and morphs to 2295, down from 2970 to account for their melee requirements.
        • Fiery Breath: Reduced the cost of this ability and the Engulfing Flames morph to 2984 to account for their melee requirements.
        • Noxious Breath: This morph now also applies the Poisoned status effect to all enemies hit by the initial hit.
      • Draconic Power
        • Dark Talons: Reduced the cost of this ability and the Burning Talons morph to 3150, down from 3780.
        • Choking Talons: The cost reduction bonus from this morph now takes the cost to 3240, down from 3510.
    • Necromancer
      • Bone Tyrant
        • Bone Goliath
          • Pummeling Goliath: This morph’s special bash attack now works for non-Necromancer classes.
    • Sorcerer
      • Daedric Summoning
        • Bound Armor
          • Bound Armaments: Reverted the previous 10% damage reduction made during the first week of PTS.
      • Dark Magic
        • Dark Exchange: This ability and its morphs now break Stealth and Invisibility immediately upon activation, rather than not removing either at all.
      • Storm Calling
        • Lightning Splash: This ability and its morphs’ synergy can now be self-synergized, to make the abilities feel less like a sacrifice for the caster to run.
    • Templar
      • Aedric Spear
        • Spear Shards
          • Luminous Shards: The synergy granted from this ability can now be self-synergized by the caster in many cases.
      • Dawn’s Wrath
        • Radiant Destruction: This ability and its morphs now last for 3.8s in total, down from 4.8s. Reduced the cost per tick to 1080, so the cost per second remains the same over the total duration/tick rate. Increased the base damage by 4%. Increased the health threshold the execute scaling starts at to 33%, up from 30%. Increased the status effect chance per tick to 6%, up from 3%.
          • Radiant Glory: Reduced the cost of this morph to be a 40% cost reduction, up from a 33.33% cost reduction. Reduced the healing done to 15% of the damage done, down from 20%.
          • Radiant Oppression: This morph's execute scaling now starts at 40%, up from 39%.
        [Developer Comment]
We're peeling back the commitment time by 1 second to try and better accommodate for rotation timing and item set interaction. This is so things like stack-based sets don't have such a short window before they'd fall off. In addition to this, we're also gently bumping up the damage the abilities can do to help get some of their power back in from before. For example, Radiant Glory now sacrifices a little bit of its healing potency in exchange for a further cost reduction, so it's a tiny bit easier for non-Magicka focused builds to utilize. Meanwhile Oppression sees a slight boost in power to make it a little clearer on when to start its use, but with less of a DPS delta between the morphs.
    • Warden
      • Winter’s Embrace
        • Piercing Cold: Increased this passive's increase to Frost Damage to 7/15%, up from 5/10%.
          [Developer Comment]
We're temporarily inflating the damage of this passive to influence Frost Damage a bit more aggressively than we'd like, until we can find better long-term solutions (like more sources of Frost Damage in general) for those who wish to wield the cold like a weapon.

    itemization-and-item-sets.png
    Item Sets
    • Mythic Items
      • Pearls of Ehlnofey: This set now grants Major Heroism for 1.5s (1 tick of 3 Ultimate) after using a healing ability while under 50% of your dominant resource, rather than granting a unique form of 3 Ultimate.
        [Developer Comment]
We're making an adjustment of this set to no longer grant a unique form of Ultimate generation, to prevent the upper end of Ultimate production when specializing in that role. It will still grant the same total amount when it activates but won't be able to stack with other sources of Major Heroism.
    • Trial Sets
      • Pillager's Profit: Reduced the amount of Ultimate this set grants per tick to 2%, down from 5% of the Ultimate spent.
        [Developer Comment]
We're peeling pack some of the raw ultimate generation with this set to better account for its realistic target cap of 11, as well as preparing for how much ultimate generation we're seeing now that builds can better specialize with subclassing.
    • Update 46 Trial Sets
      • Harmony in Chaos: Increased the amount of Weapon and Spell Damage granted per stack to 135, up from 86.
      • Recovery Convergence: Reduced the cooldown of this set to 10 seconds, down from 30. Note that the synergy will continue to have a 20 second cooldown.
      • Kazpian’s Cruel Signet: Increased the base damage this set deals by ~98%. This set no longer deals increased damage for each sword active (and by nature, can now Critically Strike because of this). Increased the application cooldown of this set to 500ms, up from 100s. This set now increases your damage done by 1% for every sword active.
        [Developer Comment]
We’re updating the functionality of this set to be less comparable to something like Azureblight or Relequen, where each enemy or application scale the damage up – largely since those sets already fill those functions incredibly well. Rather than being an in between hybrid that doesn’t excite nearly as much as either, we’re turning this into a damage multiplier for the wearer in high enemy density situations. This is so all of your damage can increase, similarly to something like Thrive in Chaos.
