Question About Pre-Paid Option

I'm a little bit confused. I bought the game. A physical copy.

I open the pamphlet included with my purchase. It reads (under the 'TO REGISTER YOUR GAME') section:

"3. Enter the Game Registration Code on the back of this insert.
4. Congratulations. You may now embark upon your epic adventure across Tamriel."

I enter the code, and I'm asked how I would like to pay for my subscription. This is understandable. I know a lot of companies do this.

I'll just ask my question. Do I need to purchase a Game Time Card if I do not wish to pay digitally in order to activate the free 30 days? I read the back of the box, and I did indeed see that a payment method was required. There's no option to skip this, and pay later, if I wish to purchase a Time Card at some point?

you can use your creditcard / bankaccount / paypall and certificate your account.. then recall/refund the order and still play with your 30 days of the game... and then later add a gametimecard.

I understand that. If I don't want to do that, then I need to purchase a Game Time Card? I would think the $60.00 purchase would certify the account, and then when the time started to run out, I could buy the card.

Do I need to buy a card if I don't want to link my account to the above?

yes alot of ppl thought that.. me too.. since iam used to that system you describing... but well.. it is like it is.. i just can give ya this informations :

they didn´s say something about gametimecards ( or i didnt see it.. there were alot of posts about that problem )
so i can´t help you there.

the admins just were talking about the stuff i did list.. or paypall / playspan and so on.. but with that stuff you dont get a refund.. you would just buy 30 days of playtime... so in my logic... aslong you are adding 30 days and you have the option to add a gametimecard.. that should work.. BUT IAM NOT SURE lol :P

if there is some1 with a link where an admin talks about gametimecares.. i would be interested too :)

I just returned from the store I purchased the game from. They don't even have the cards in stock. I was willing to give this a try, while ignoring the large myriad of issues and complaints (an abnormal amount even during BETA). I don't think I'll ever purchase anything from this company again.

Yeah, this was a bit of a bummer. Why the hell they didn't include a free 30-day game time card in the box? I mean, I paid for the collectors edition box, and (foolishly, I admit) assumed that it includes the free 30 days. Why the hell do I need to pay for extra 30 days to gain access to the "free" 30 days? Do they assume that why of course people who play this game for a month want to instantly play for another month?
I got pretty damn confused when I typed in the reg. code, and the site was asking for my preferred payment method. I thought I had received a faulty package with the free game time card missing, but after a quick googling I found this http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/225ww1/psa_to_access_your_30_days_of_free_game_time_you/ which kindly informed me of this bullcrap. After a quick read, many of the folks there said that this is a common practice, and you're a fool to think otherwise, I got a bit angry, since this is the first MMORPG I've ever played. How the *** I was supposed to know this kind of practice? Logic states, that if game contents say it comes with FREE 30 DAYS OF GAME TIME, then it actually does that. *** this ***, I say. Really, really bad customer service this is.
I do love the game, but *** Zenimax is a piece of *** for doing this. Had it been a week or two later, I wouldn't have been able to afford the 13e, but gladly I still have some extra moneys to spend. >:[
