Nope, ZOS doesn't care about loyalty.

In a way it makes sense that subclassing and scribing is free for the base game.

That way everyone is on the same page balance wise. Exciting times ahead with lots of optional possibilities and combinations to play soon.

I got it with gold road but not mad at all that others get it to enjoy for free now. We got it a year early + west weald zone with trial/story/dungeon/delves/incursions etc

I paid for Scribing and I'm happy it's being added to the basegame. It was one of my favorite storylines, on top of being a useful and fun system.

I should have waited a few months and saved my money...

Personally I am happy with the move.

I'd also been happy if they'd made it part of the base game on release like they are about to do with subclassing; I'd still have purchased the chapter regardless.

Okay a new trial but not much. I don't mind scribing being base game, but Gold Road almost made me not buy future DLC's.

Scribing is going to be hugely important for subclassing. When you go triple DPS skill lines or triple healing skill lines, scribing will be very helpful to fill in gaps created by not having a full set of class skills. I am guessing this is exactly why scribing is coming to base game. To avoid the bad PR of, "Subclassing is cool but why am I gimped if I don't have last year's Chapter?"

For me... Chapters were always about the QUESTS and new zones to explore, delves, public dungeons. Having Scribing with Gold Road was just an added benefit, but not my priority for buying it.

I didn't complain when Battlegrounds were moved to Base Game in 2018.
I didn't complain when Morrowind got attached to the ESO Standard Edition in 2018.
I didn't complain when Imperial City was made free in the Crown Store in 2019.
I didn't complain when Morrowind was made free in the Crown Store in 2023.
I didn't complain when old DLCs were free to claim under certain conditions (Achievements, Daily Rewards) last year.
I ain't going to complain about Scribing going to be made free in the Crown Store this year.

My first thought was that I don’t like this, but then it has been a year so that is a reasonable enough period of time to bring it to the base game I guess.

It's been a year. I don't regret buying Gold Road and having part of what I paid for being added to the base game.
I mostly consider the yearly buy-in (content passes or chapters or whatever they're calling it these days) as an early access fee.

I don't understand why old content, really old content, hasn't been added to the base game. Is Orsinium still only available via purchase/ESO+ because of Maelstrom Arena weapons? Do they really make a lot of money off of Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood purchases?
