writ voucher stuck at 60

I'm working to get the jewelry crafting station and yesterday, decided to check how close I was. 60 writ vouchers. I did all the crafting dailies today and turned in, checked, 60 writ vouchers. It seems I am missing something. JC station is 125 writ vouchers, so I'm guessing 60 isn't a cap.

Thank you for any insight :)

Writ vouchers come from doing master writs not the daily writs. You get master writs from doing max level daily writs or buying from guild traders.

If you're wondering how to get more of the master crafting writs, this thread might help:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/632270/about-character-knowledge-and-master-writ-drop-chances

The short version appears to be to get level 50 on each crafting skill and:
    • For gear, learn more complete books of motifs
    • For provisions, learn more purple and gold recipes
    • For alchemy, learn the complete properties of all the ingredients
    • For enchanting, learn the properties of all the runes

Thank you for the responses (and the CM that fixed my post). I am recently returned after a 5 (?) year gap. I would swear that when I last played, the dailies gave 1 writ...I had 135 writs but I can think of just 2 or 3 master writs I ever did previously. I understand I need to do them now. I will start watching the traders for writs I can actually do. The ones I've gotten so far are not doable (styles) for me currently. Spending 50k+ per writ to get the requirements is not really doable.

Depending on where you are in the levelling process, each daily writ can give you an inspiration boost. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? There's also the one per day class script component (added with scribing IIUC). That said, I've only been playing for about a year, so I don't know exactly how things were before then. There might be something relevant in the UESP wiki?

Hi, The master writs are not too much of an issue - I just didn't know. I have everything maxed except JC and everything researched except nirnorne. Alchemy and enchanting writs are the bomb :) It would have taken months (given 1 writ per daily) to get the writ vouchers I have now. The price to purchase the master writs from guild traders does not seem excessive, and I can sell the ones I get with styles I have little hope of getting any time soon.

Worth mentioning that as the Anniversary Event has just ended Motifs are cheaper than usual at Guild Traders.

If you get a writ that you don't know the style for, it is well worth checking how much that Motif costs atm!

You'll learn more styles too!! 🙂

I went down that line of trying to buy the styles...after I spent 20k gold, I discovered the item I needed to actually make that style was no where on the guild traders. I gave up on that line of attack. I decided I'll discover them naturally over time and stick with alch/ench/prov for now. I have banked up a bunch of motifs I got from the event, waiting for the prices to go back up...none of those were ones I needed for writs, of course :)

I would highly recommend adding jewellry to your list, once maxed I find jewellry master writs drop the most often for me.

With purple writs starting at 22-ish vouchers going up to high 30's and gold ranging from 80 up to over 200, they are a great source of vouchers and excepting maybe "infused" traited ones the mats are cheap and easily obtainable.

Also jewellry does not require motif knowledge instead just knowing enough traits makes them doable. :)

Some mats are available from Rollis and his assistant (for a small fee, of course). Might it have been one of those you needed?

Does anyone know whether the dragon ingredients or ones like clam gall, crimson nirnroot, vile coagulant, and powdered mother of pearl make much of a difference? I have those on my main character but did not do them on my alts.

In the thread I linked to in my post above, @tmbrinks posted:

"With there being no journal tracking for alchemy traits, I operate under the assumption that there is no drop rate addition associated with the DLC materials. I do not see a statistically significant difference in drop rate for Alchemy Master Writs between characters that have learned Dragon Bile/Blood/Rheum and those that have not (although that is much more difficult to discern as it's per character, rather than per account)."

But even if the game had since been changed to count them, the law of diminishing returns would seem to apply here. You could keep track of the number dropping for your main versus alts if you wanted to, but you'd need quite a lot of dailies completed to get any meaningful information out of that especially since master provisioning writs were described by one ZOS staff member as "quite uncommon".

Yesterday, I made a point of learning all the traits for those items prior to doing dailies and got no writs. One datapoint :)

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for confirming it.
