Subclasses and Problems with Solutions

So I have absolutely zero confidence that they're going to do any better with subclassing. If they even bother balancing it at all, it will be the quick, easy, sledgehammer solution we've seen for years. It will then be left unfinished and issues will not addressed in an acceptable timeframe. I mean when "how is this going to work in pvp" came up in the post-stream, the answer was pretty much just "well we're gonna do it and see how that goes". We've heard that before, lol.

But I mean sure, hopefully I'm wrong?

That's my main fear with it, as much as it can be balanced properly, there will likely be broken combos that will be hammered down to death, and pure classes will suffer over it.

I think overall, the ideal would be ZOS to see subclassing as a versatility tool, not a gateway to get stronger. Pure classes should be somewhat as strong as whatever combination you can get, with the expense of not being as versatile.
@MorvanClaude on PC/NA, don't try to trap me with lore subjects, it will work

I’m maybe one of the negative nellies about this but there should be some sort of diminishing return for utilizing subclassed skills to keep pure classes relevant and class choice important. Cost increase for subclassed skills would be a start but it should also be by a significant amount, like 30-50%. Also just skill effectiveness/power having a % decrease or something. Like for example if hypothetically base tooltip on class X’s skill is 10k, it’s reduced to 7k on class Y when subclassing it etc. I could get behind that level of balancing. But that would be quite extensive and the balancing track record is just not great objectively. I want to get behind the idea, but there’s so many glaring shortcomings and predictable outcomes, I hope they can really pull it off.

Streak, polar wind, merciless resolve, northernstorm on the same build? The Sorcdenblade is going to reign supreme in pvp more than anything else.

There are lots of limitation should be applied. Devs can't just throw out an idea without any feasible plan. It is something Trump will do, not game devs will.

I'll bet there were dozens of meetings about this topic. Nothing gets thrown out. Even their worst ideas throughout history came about though many meetings and high fives.
