I believe zos should change things up by modifying the light and heavy attacks and use those slots for certain selectable skills but the slots themselves would still be special as anything triggered by a light attack would still use that slot so would still work and the same for heavy attack. The stipulation would be that new skills replacing the old light and heavy attack would be added through the scribing system and put on the gcd. So the light and heavy attack would be moved over to certain selectable scribed skills " basic combat". This will let players add new customized skills to their rotations. The light attack category will always be weaker and no cost and the heavy attack category always have cast time/wind up and restore stats. There would be a number of choices you could choose depending on how you play the game to modify that action further, and through the scribing system you can enhance these to your liking.
basically weaving would be given up to introduce greater functionality and utility to players since the new effects would have available buffs, passives, and other effects in addition to the basic effects of the category. These skils would work with any equipped weapon but you can add more to them and do more with them.
since high APM is generally the source of this games woes, this upgrade would help improve performance and add enhanced functionality at the same time. A win win for most players and certainly all new players. I know many will defend the weaving mechanic but it really has hurt the game. Try something new and see what happens.
