Game v Forum Account

Hello there,
Hoping someone can clarify as the forum invite email isn't clear to me - I'm posting this on my beta forum account.
I played thru beta however when I bought my Imperial Edition I created a new account. I then received an email with an invite to join the forums. This auto filled in an invite code however since I already had a game account I tried to sign in with my Game account details (tried both User ID / email) - which wouldn't work.
Am I supposed to have two different accounts? one for game and the other for forums? Or am I supposed to create one using my game account details or should it be different?
Also, because I created a new account I lost my monkey so if I could get that sent to my Imperial Edition account that would be great.
Any help appreciated.
