Should the Soul Magic skill line receive new passives?

The current Soul Magic passives are quite niche (at best) and offer no real benefits for slotting or using Soul Magic skills. This wasn’t much of an issue when the skill line only included Soul Strike and Soul Trap, but with the introduction of Soul Burst and Wield Soul through Scribing, I feel that the skill line could greatly benefit from new passives that reward players for actively using its abilities while still preserving its core identity.

For reference, these are the current passives:
  • Soul Shatter - When your Health drops below 20% your soul explodes, dealing 1600 Magic Damage to enemies within 8 meters of you. This effect can occur once every 2 minutes and scales off your Max Health.
  • Soul Summons - Allows you to revive once every 1 hour without spending a Soul Gem.
  • Soul Lock - Killing an enemy has a 10% chance of automatically filling an empty Soul Gem.
As for implementation, I believe a lot of skill lines in ESO have five passive abilities, while Soul Magic only has three. This leaves room for two additional passives without overloading the skill line. These could be automatically unlocked for players who have already completed the main quest. Alternatively, the existing passives could be reworked or replaced to better reflect the expanded skill line and bring it in line with the evolution of ESO in 2025.

    Soul Shatter is useless, I would change it by making it active only once you have gotten your soul back and it would be active regardless of if you have a soul magic skill slotted or not, it would actually show the difference between a Vestige who has their Soul back and one who doesn't.

    Not only would I increase the initial damage but Slotting Soul magic skills would increase the damage of the explosion by an additional 10%

    Soul Shatter is the only real useless one, the others fill their role while mostly staying out of the way and with how it is tied to the original main story I wouldn't want them to make the passives super valuable or important.

    They are supposed to be just a small little, almost unnoticeable, bonus and I think they mostly do that quite well

    What new passive effects do you propose?

    I actually don't have any great ideas - but a lot of things seem more useful to me than the current Soul Shatter and Soul Summons. Looking at other skill lines in the game, passives such as these could be added I suppose (please don't pay attention to the names of the skills):
    • Soul Adept - Reduces the Magicka and Stamina cost of your Soul Magic abilities by 10%.
    • Strength of the Soul - While a Soul Magic ability is active, your Max Magicka and Stamina are increased by 5%.
    • Soul Burn - When you deal damage with a Soul Magic ability you generate a stack of Soul Burn for 3 seconds. After reaching 10 stacks, you deal 898 Magic Damage to your target. This effect scales off your highest offensive stats.
    • Enduring Soul - Increases your Health, Magicka and Stamina Recovery by 129 for each Soul Magic ability slotted.
    • Soul Drain - When you cast a Soul Magic ability in combat, you generate 6 Ultimate. This effect can occur once every 20 seconds.
    • Persistent Soul - Increase the duration of your non-Ultimate costing Soul Magic abilities by 20%.

    -*Passive* Soul spawn: Attach your soul to a location to allow you to respawn there after death, or to place yourself there for no fee once per hour.
    -*Passive* Steal soul: Each of your attacks has a 10% chance to steal 10% of your health, 10% of your magicka, and 10% of your stamina from your enemy. On boss monsters this percentage is reduced to 2%(does not work on players or in PvP zones).
    -*Passive* Burn your soul(on/off): Select a target role (Tank/Healer/Dps) and once per hour you automatically burn your soul(die) to instantly revive a person of the selected role in your group to full health/magicka/stamina. (does not work on yourself, or in PvP zones)
    -*Passive* Soulmates: Automatically share 50% of your maximum stamina and magicka resources with all your groupmembers when they all have their main resource(highest) fall below 50% at the same time. (limited to once per minute)

    Really hoping that this year's circling back to the basegame story also comes with some new work on the Soul Magic skill line. Getting two Scribing skills for the line was a great start, but bringing it up to par with the other universal skill lines would be awesome.
