Whitestrake's Mayhem vs. PvE Events

I feel like a lot of posts in this thread boil down to:

    PvP Event = Exists
PvP Event Existing = I Must Complete It
Completion = Participating in PvP Zones
    BUT
    I don't like PvP.
    ERGO
ZOS is forcing me to do PvP against my will.
    SOLUTION:
ZOS should never do PvP events at all

This isn't exclusive to the PVP events. We also saw it all over the place with the last event that "forced" the people who refuse to interact with others for any reason (up to and including even not using NPC companions) to group. With the same conclusion.

Heck, I've seen the same equation for endeavors and pursuits that require stealing, using poisons, killing certain types of NPCs, or claiming rewards that are "named for a false god" (YES, SOMEONE SAID THAT, in these forums!).

I don't understand the mindset at all. The idea that a suggested task even existing on a screen is "forcing" someone to do it (and the option to just not do it is a non-starter) is entirely foreign to me. Similarly, the idea that ZOS should be catering to one specific player/type of player (and never cater to any other type of player other than them) is equally wild.

If you don't want to do the event, just don't do the event. Advocating for events you don't like to not exist (i.e., "ZOS shouldn't be forcing me to do X activity I don't like") is... what's a stronger word for "selfish"? Because that goes so far beyond the normal range of behaviors that the word "selfish" implies.

It works both ways. If you primarily do one (PVE or PVP) your build for that will be up to date while the other might be a few updates behind. So in that way I can see some frustration. But that's just the game. You can't please everyone.

If you are a PVE player who barely does PVP, there are easy work-arounds. In Cyrodiil, look for a campaign with a low population, preferably one where your faction has the most in the campaign. The daily scouting mission is super easy and you will rarely be caught. In IC, its kind of the same, but you will likely be caught at least once.

Even safer than the scouting mission is the fighter's guild daily, and the towns of Cheydinhall (near ep), Chorrol, and Weynon Priory (DC). Unlike the towns the pursuit sends you towards, these towns are not PvP objectives. So, there's no reason for a PvP to be there. Skip the delve quests to lower the odds even further, as delves provide AP buffs.

The Arena mission is Imperial City can be done from the safety of the platforms. So just slot some ranged skills or weapons, kill the NPC guarding the citizen to free the citizen by walking near the edge (you can target and be targeted at the edge), and then walk backwards back into the purple safe zone. It makes the mission more tedious than if you just drop down and take the risk of being killed. But, if you hate being killed in PvP that badly, it's a lot safer.

I won't say either of these methods are 100% safe, but I haven't been killed once this entire mayhem doing them. Or the last one. There's no shared PvP objectives with these methods. And in the case of ic, you're spending most of your time in an enforced safe zone.

I believe the word you're looking for is 'narcissistic'.

While I normally get pretty into Whitestrikes. This particular event I just didn't have the time to commit to much grouping.

Only one day did I join a group and had what I would call a regular PVP evening with lots of killing and dieing alike. This allowed me to pick up the Kill 10 players in Cyrodiil golden pursuit.

I did town quests in the 3 zones to cover tickets and the golden pursuit, did IC quests for both and actually did 5 BG's (8v8 on a pve toon) and was able to complete the Golden Pursuit and get all the style pages covered Friday.

I did this all on a PVE toon who was squishy as heck and only died to other players 2-3 times a day outside the BG's

So while being prepared could be helpful, it wasn't required to accomplish all the things during the event.
