Whitestrake's Mayhem vs. PvE Events

I really wouldn't advise anyone to go all in on making a fancy suit/build just for PvP if they haven't tried it before. If you're determined to get into PvP then sure, but if you just want to do quests and try it out I would look at the beginner builds that use easily obtainable gear and focus on survivability. A basic one bar healer build was all I had when I started out, but it earned me a lot of AP and let me experience enough PvP to know what kind of builds I'd enjoy playing. But no fancy gear will help if you don't know to block and the basic tactics for PvP.

There's also the most obvious advice - speak to other players who PvP. Ask for help getting started with beginner builds and gear. Chances are you can find players with spare bits of Rallying Cry etc in their bank or who will happily craft you sets that you need.

I built all five of my girls a new build/sets for PvP in the week before Mayhem. It was far far easier than PvE sets as I could purchase a lot of the parts and craft the others. One high end PvE suit can have you spending hours in dungeons/trials farming the parts. Then you make it and realise you have no transmutes left and it has some silly mini-game to get the best damage and doesn't suit you ;) With the PvP suits at least, you can buy the parts you need to stickerbook and sometimes you can get the exact properties on pieces and they're 200 gold.

Having said all that you can also do quests before the event when it's quieter and simply hand in one per day in Cyro/IC during the event. Then you REALLY don't need to worry about the fancy gear.

I made a sniper build, but I have found DK to be really op in pvp. Even my healer setup with some PVE dps gear does very well for the most part. Healing is the main way to get points in BG's now too, so I wouldn't bother making pvp specific sets again.

You people know damn well what I mean. All players want to earn event tickets and/or golden pursuits.
I've already giving up hope for earning an extra daily ticket because of toxic PvP'ers stalking at the turn in questpoints.

As a primary pve player, I would completely skip this event if not for the fact that there's a single item from the Veteran's Bag of Glory that I have spent the past few years spending the time to get every ticket from mayhem and spend them all on bags only to not get the item I'm looking for. Just about all the items in the bag sell for over a million gold. The one I want has a single listing for 60 million. So again, if not for that, I would just not participate.

I'm not a huge fan of PvP; I can take it or leave it unless it is battlegrounds which I loathe with a white hot passion. The Whitestrake event is about the only time I spend much time in Cyrodiil or Imperial City, so I'm glad it rolls around a couple of times a year. I die a lot; I get event tickets; this year I got the Golden Pursuit done, and it will get me my fill of PvP until the next time it rolls around. All in all, the event does what it is supposed to do in my case, so no complaints from me.

I think they might've gotten their golden pursuit and moved on by now. I haven't had any trouble so far this week - at least not in Quagmire or Fields of Regret.

Some people just need to accept that they are not required to do the events just because they are there. I don't really do PvP, I'll fail my way to the end of the alliance skill lines in battlegrounds to get horn, vigor, and caltrops, but I am supremely unbothered by the existence of IC and Cyrodiil, even when there's an event on.

It's still not forced content. A player can "want" all they wish. They just need to decide how badly they want it.

Players are freelly able to judge for themselves whether the rewards are worth the effort to complete the activities required to get them. And missing out on any of the available rewards in no way inhibits a players gameplay. The GP rewards are worth more to PvP players than PvE since the AP and Tel Var currencies have no effect on PvE players, as well the customized action isn't exactly a game changer. And as in every year prior, missing out on the Mayhem Event Tickets doesn't block event rewards acquisition.

Mayhem is, and has always been, optional content that can be skipped by any player.

I have nothing to spend my tickets on anyway but if you did need them, there are plenty of easy options if you think about it. It might require scouting a few campaigns to see your options. I have one character on every faction for this purpose, but I haven't needed to switch beyond my mains on EP at all.

Chorral and Cheydinhal are the safest typically, but do not have waypoints like the other three "towns". I haven't ran into a single troll at those points. Quick and easy ticket missions typically. For IC just goto Arena district and semi-AFK in the towers, there are enough quest npc updates nearby that it will be done in 15 min or so. If this is too much for you, I respect that but it doesn't seem too difficult to me.

Why do people just lie? The most prepared person on Tamriel still needs to get LUCKY to avoid PvP while in the active PvP zones (you know: where the quests live). No amount of prep changes that. You're just going at off hours, before the Event, or in groups, and hoping for the best.

If you are smart, prepare ahead of time, and very very LUCKY you can muddle through Whitestrake's Mayhem without actual PvP. Ftfy.

nonsense. Off hours scouting missions, ic from the spawn points with range, thief/stealth builds and pre event mission loading means you never need see anyone. All this info is provided here and in other venues in the lead up to mayhem. IC is empty on off hours, cyro is empty in off hours both are desolate off mayhem for the most part. It is very simple to get everything done with minimal effort.

You can literally get the tickets without pvping. Figure it out. What's the easiest quest in Cyrodiil? Hint: it's on a bulletin board. What's the easiest quest in Imperial City? Hint: it's the one about citizens. You pick up the quest on a platform. The quest objective is right there. You don't even have to leave the platform. Y'all need to figure stuff out, that's part of playing a game.

Agreed. I ran through the entirety of IC today getting every skyshard because I didn't have any of them done on my second account. I saw one other player from a different faction. We ran right by each other, probably avoiding eye contact, and I was not attacked by another player once in the entire journey.

Yesterday, I got every skyshard in Cyrodiil except for one that was locked behind a closed gate. I did not see a single other player in the entire time. This was around 7-8 P.M. EST, so not exactly off hours. I have gotten the entire Golden Pursuit done, and the only place I was attacked was in battlegrounds. I'm not a big PvP fan, but there isn't much actual PvP required to get tickets and check things off the list.

You forgot the Fighter's Guild bounty missions. Most of those give targets inside the faction's safe area. Unless someone else controls the two closest keeps to you, PvPers literally cannot get in to kill anyone.

i dont know why they force pvp events to players, basically i hate IC for all those toxic players who camp in base, stealthy and just farming all low lv players and unexperienced to make their gameplay like hell.

my advice is to change the mechanics of IC and make it like cyrodill where you dont lose currency when getting killed, that will force all players to play fair.

Unless its your very first time in Cyrodill or have a slow mount this isn't an issue I refuse to PVP now days wearing my trials dps setup and got most of my tickets no problem luckily I found campaigns that was mostly red spawned at Cropsford did a quest turned it in and left. Went to no-cp Imperial City went to Arena District did the quest spawned back at sewers turned in quest and left other than that Harvest Time quest I did the other night I had my 3 event tickets in like 15 minutes.

The first 3 days of the event I even hit the daily limit of daily quests and got ganked 3 times so about 1 a day
unless your trying to do Cryrodill Quests in like Grey Host OPs post is a skill issue.

It isn't like the Whitestrakes event isn't basically another PVE event anyway if you wish it to be. I agree, if you don't want to use your brain and figure out very easy ways to get those tickets, that is a you problem. I don't even really enjoy PVP I have never had issues getting my tickets. It is pretty scummy for trolls to setup siege inside buildings and stuff but I think that was addressed years ago. If you see gankers just find a path of less resistance, which is usually none at all. I ran around in IC getting skyshards last night on a support alt and only ran into one or two aggressors and I just teleported to Cyrodiil on them LOL.

I can't help but notice you seem to be mixing up the words "refuted" and "ignored".

The year's ticket rewards don't require this event to earn them all.

The motif pages are cheap in guild stores.

The Fighter's Guild bounties in Cyrodiil don't usually require you to leave the faction safe zone.

The only thing being "missed" is a harvesting emote that's cute twice and nobody but you can even see.

I can't think of a way ZOS could "force us" to do this event LESS.

They haven't been refuted though. I mean sure, there's not an alternative to getting the item but participate in Mayhem. I'm not sure if it's possible to get the pursuit done and never PvP. I know you don't have to PvP to get the event tickets.

Fighters Guild and Arena dailies and you'll be pretty safe.

But cosmetics are completely optional items. They aren't required. You don't need a PvP themed reward for gameplay. A person can't reasonably expect to get every cosmetic item in the game if they're not willing to do all content. They should expect to be able to gear up and play the game to a decent level without engaging in anything they don't like. But cosmetics or best-in-slot gear may require doing things that is outside of their comfort zone.

Yeah, the tickets are easy to get without any chance of PVP. Even outside of Fighters Guild you can do a scouting mission. When you are riding in the open world, it is very rarely you see other players. And even then, they will most likely ignore you. And you can do the IC dailies in advance and just return one a day. Or do the Arena one, as mentioned. You can sit safely in your safe zone and light attack NPCs for the quest.

But if you want to fully enjoy the event, you should make a build. Crafted is enough.

I have played this whole event with crafted gear. I have Mechanical Acuity and Wretched Vitality - and Balorgh (you get it in PVE), Trainee (starter zones) and a mythic (Antiquities). Nothing I have requires any PVP to obtain.

You can also utilise other sets like Stuhn, Clever Alchemist, Shattered Fate, Order's Wrath, or forgo the need for sets all together and use the Torc of the Last Ayleid King mythic.

If you are not a PVPer I wouldn't spend too much gold for a PVP build just for the mayhem anyway. A crafted build is plenty. That way you will be able to defend yourself against most casual players, which will be a huge portion during the mayhem. And the experienced PVPers will defeat you even if you had all the meta sets and everything golded out.

And still most of the players are AP farming and you can join with your PVE build. Just hop on the AP train and shout "choo choo". A huge portion of the "PVP" during the event is actually PVDoor.

It works both ways. If you primarily do one (PVE or PVP) your build for that will be up to date while the other might be a few updates behind. So in that way I can see some frustration. But that's just the game. You can't please everyone.

If you are a PVE player who barely does PVP, there are easy work-arounds. In Cyrodiil, look for a campaign with a low population, preferably one where your faction has the most in the campaign. The daily scouting mission is super easy and you will rarely be caught. In IC, its kind of the same, but you will likely be caught at least once.
