ESO Launcher is Re-Downloading the entire 60GB of the game when earlier today I could play just fine

I logged on for 5 mins today before the servers got taken down to prepare for "launch" today and I just tried to log back in.

When my launcher came up there was no "play" option, just a "repair" option. So I clicked it, and then it went to play. Servers were still down. So then I closed it out and like and rational sane person would do I opened up my launcher again to see if the servers were finally up.

This time only an "install" button popped up. So I clicked it. Now it's downloading the entire game all over again at a snail's pace. This is just crazy, I was playing just fine earlier today and the past 3 days and now my launcher wants to download the entire game all over again? This is just incredibly frustrating. If anyone knows an answer to this I'd love to hear it. Don't really feel like waiting 2 days for the game to download all over again when I've already done it.

This might be because I'm on a Mac, but I don't have this problem. When I opened the launcher, there was a brief patch, but I was still able to see the "Play" button.

Did you check the Megaserver option in the launcher? Whenever I try to access the Europe server (I play on NA) it wants me to install the game. The game with the NA megaserver alone is only 30GB for me, and unless I try to play EU's server, I don't have to download anything aside from the patches.

While the launcher is trying to download the 22 gig file:

Hit pause.

Use the game settings icon IN THE NEWS SECTION, choose cancel,

Using same icon choose repair.

Play after "repair".

Mine installed the patch fine 1 hour ago... now it's re-downloading entire game.

I installed a small patch few mins ago and now i have ERROR 104 - DOWNLOADERROR_NOTENOUGHSPACE (i have 50gb free and is selected EU server as my game is installed)

same thing just happened to me. this launcher is infuriating. they need to have more sophisticated error handling than simply redownloading the entire f****** game.

One strategy: Back up the game before messing with it. That way you can have a mulligen (do over) if it fails.

That would help. Honestly there is no reason a player should have to do that.
Zos needs a better launcher that handles errors correctly. downloading the client repeatedly just to get the same error and repeat is ridicoulous.

I had a 350g monthly bandwidth allotment (now 999) and went over the 350 trying to get a "broken install" fixed because of this. No excuse.

So same issue here.. a lot of my friends have a similar problem.. apparently no fixes outside of actually re-downloading the game.. which is obviously *** for those of us with capped internet and whatnot.
