What's up with all the female-oriented outfits with no male-oriented counterparts?

With the upcoming Golden Pursuit outfit reward, that's 2 in a row now that were meant for female characters that have no male counterpart. I know there have been a few others over the years as well, I just can't remember what they are called at the moment.

The 10-year anniversary Nord hero costume is excellent and looks best on the male body, I believe. I dyed the costume so the basic color is black highlighted with divine gold and it comes fringed in white. Very nice!

The 10-year anniversary Elven hero does seem to have been made for the female figure and looks particularly nice on my female Wood Elf Nightblade. Again, I chose basic black with divine gold highlights. They also come with full-size statues which are quite nice.

I imagine we will get more 10-year anniversary heroes.

I applaud the Art Department for their hard work and good taste!

I don't think it's laziness. I think it's more like: Here's a cosmetic item! Whether you like it or not has nothing to do with the effort that went into it.

It is odd. While I defended the elven hero costume for men, I'm afraid to see what this outfit will look like as the bra looking "tops" don't usually look good on men. We could also use more shorts rather than more skirts. It'd be interesting to see more takes on masculine skimpier clothing as well.

It's good that they have outfits that give options to people who want to put feminine cuts on male bodies. But, I think they have over corrected and now there isn't enough new costumes being designed specifically for masculine cuts on male bodies.

Oh, for sure. I want everyone to be able to wear whatever they want. But for those of us that DON'T want to wear feminine outfits on masculine characters, it's kind of annoying.

I understand, though. I saw a male today in the Elf costume and it is not a look I would want.

If you mean her left hand, she's holding hands with the other person. It's an awkward angle to hold hands, though.

Such a shame that this is likely yet another costume that was well-designed for female characters then half-heartedly converted for males. Apparently whoever thought everything needs more flaps also decided "just slap the bra-plate on him" is good enough for us.

Maybe when he turns around, we'll be surprised. But we saw the Elven Hero. We saw the Mercymother's Attire. We're...not optimistic.

I honestly don't think it's that well designed for female characters either. It's so random what has armor and doesn't. It feels like this one is a bit over done. But that's just me personally, it's not the worst or anything.

It's a shame. This would've looked so good on my male character if it didn't have the cleavage window on it. With that it just looks odd, like I'm cross-dressing.

I understand the new design philosophy ZOS adopted many years ago that motifs/costumes wouldn't change their looks between genders (due to people rightfully complaining that outfits were unnecessarily revealing when worn by women), but the reality is that only works one way. Female characters getting unaltered male outfits looks fine — you wouldn't even know the difference — but unaltered female outfits on males doesn't look the same.

I wish they'd have made an extra male variant of the Elven Hero Costume we could choose to use.

ZOS looks at the player characters out there when they design costumes, bro.

On PS/NA between all the female players with female characters and the male players with female characters, my male characters look like the token guy at a Ladies Only party.

But I do see a fair number of guys playing female characters when I do trials or dungeons.

Thats not true. You can get married at the Shrine of Mara in any major city.

Big this. They know what they're doing, and know its not going to look good on male characters. Didn't we used to have costumes that changed between male and female characters? Or is that only motifs?

I'd agree if I wasn't as distracted by trying to wrap my head around what's "dibellian" in this outfit style... The flower motif? A cleavage? Definitely not a priestess clothing nor a knightly one. Looks like something from a recent Dragon Age game and that's not a compliment either.

Hope at least some parts like asymmetrical shoulder piece is usable enough.

Ring of Mara allows a minimal version of that. Anything beyond that is a third party "addon".

ZOS never took the time and effort to develop romance options in the game. Between the PC and NPCs, it is really up to the imagination.

FWIW, I heard mention/lspeculation that it's not a costume, but an outfit style of individual pieces(because it does say "armor set"). Not that that would make it any more palatable, but.. <shrug> It is what it is.

This is a non-solution to the problem.

As many other people I'd like to get marriable NPCs, with who I can RP and speak, based on ingame dialogues. Just as we can in Skyrim. I'd like to be able to have a romance with dedicated NPCs.

But yea I could basically speak to a flower pot and tell it I'm in love with it. If we see it that way, it fixes all the bugs and all the QoL requests from the community.

I just mean a romance/marriage system similar to what we got in Skyrim.

Not something I have to build in my own mind and that cannot have any concrete consequences on the game.

Yup and that's exactly what makes me sad. I bet it would be quite easy for ZOS to add a real romance system, instead of asking players to "just imagine it".

that's definitely to show the back of the style and nothing else.
they do it with a lot of promo art.

i am glad this style, just like the 10 Year Anniversary alliance hero costumes, have the same design for all characters.
Extra options would be something I'm all for, but ideally that would be an extra chest style/costume instead of forced.

As mentioned here and in the one about the eleven hero costume, I do think this way is better. If you go out and buy a crop-top at Target, you can wear it, even if it your a male. it does grow or gain material, and that should always be the default.

Would it be awesome if they gave us 2 style with two rigs each? yeah, is that realistic, I don't really know. they used to give us 2 styles with 1 rig each now they give us 1 style with 2 rigs each. at the end of the day it depends on which process costs them more, and they'd have to adjust pricing accordingly to double their work as I'm sure we all want

Keep in mind I'm vastly simplifying things because I don't understand the process, realistically there's probably more rigs given the beats races
