Should a Hide Chest, Gloves, Pants, Boots, and Belt Outfit Style be added to the game?

I just think additional customization options would allow for some really unique looks, and they've already added "Hide Shoulders" and "Hide Helmet", so it should be easy to do. What do you guys think?

I agree. There should be a toggle to hide/show any armor pieces. The more character customization the better.

On the otherhand there would be some characters running around in dungeons wearing underwear 🤣.

More customization options are always nice.

Some slots already have some close options (Such as the Prisoner Cuffs and Prisoner Sandals being very low profile options, and there's a particular belt style that's bugged on females and clips inside the player model and is not visible at all) meaning their addition is easy to justify.

While something like hide chest would be somewhat thematic for Nord characters with their Viking style bare-chested warrior theme.

Hide pants would be the hardest to justify, but I'm sure there would be some combinations where it could make sense (Such as if there was like a chest piece with long tassets, or some long shirt that could act like a kilt or skirt)

To be fair... There are some outfit styles/costumes that aren't much better.

I'd wish they'd remove the hip pieces on the torso armour: it's fine for heavy but it makes no sense in light armour which is essentially clothing.

I'd like to see belt and gloves added.

I don't really have strong feelings on boots.

I think hiding chest and pants would likely end up being disruptive to immersion/incentives.

Well, guys can already hide chest with a couple of motifs. Girls always wind up with the "mummy band" look. I'm not interested in pants/boots being gone, but belts and gloves, yes.

Something that really frustrates me is that there are images from old live streams (from 2015 or 2016, I can’t remember exactly) of a development server where it was possible to hide all body parts, just like the "hide shoulders" option.

In other words, it wouldn't be something new.

I dunno about hide pants and chest (topless motifs are expensive, so selfish reason, but also I'd rather not see fully armored naked people all over the place) but the others, especially belts, should probably be a thing.

Lots of other games have options to hide every item slot, this really should be standard by now.

Specific to eso, I'd really like to also hide the unnecessary loincloths worn atop every other armor.

Yes, but also you'd get so many players running around naked that it wouldn't feel right.

I think some restrictions should apply, like only being able to hide a maximum of 3 pieces of armour.

I think some restrictions should apply, like only being able to hide a maximum of 3 pieces of armour.

If so many players wanted to do that, they could more or less do that already, like by using the towel. Some armour pieces like Chitinous or (iirc) Scorianite are also very much in the business of "nothing to see here".

And last, I think you underestimate players' wishes to look cool by quite a lot. ESO's base body models generally don't exude coolness very much. ;D

    Belt, Hands, and Feet definitely.

Chest maybe. There's Sai Sahan and Fang Lair/Worm that can achieve this already, but it would be nice to have an option to hide it fully.

Legs maybe not. Not even nordic bath towel is skimpy when it comes to legs. Running around pantless while armored everywhere else is armored is also weird to picture.

This game has a lot of body marking/tattoos that are not worth equipping because you simply don't have a way to show them off without removing your armor, namely hands and chest. You either need to spend a lot of money on sai sahan, wear nordic bath towel, or just not equip a chest piece. None of this is really feasible if you want to show them off during content.

No, Grim Focus just needs to be **fixed**, because it's clearly broken. Numerous forum members know this, even if ZOS refuses to admit it. Adding a "hide Grim Focus" option (or whatever you want to call it) is just a workaround, **not** a fix.

I voted yes, but I mean it with the exception of legs and chest pieces. If a bunch of players were to begin running around without those in dungeons and in other situations, this would be highly against immersion and roleplay.

Or maybe they could give us a menu option to respect/ignore the ability to hide those particular pieces (with ignore as default).

Meshes do not work like that! 3D games do not work like that. One can only hide a 3D asset completely or not at all.

If one wants the effect of removing a tasset, for example, one needs to remove the entire original mesh and replace it with another one that does not have tassets. To make this effect into a toggleable feature, ZOS would need to create a second mesh for every armor in the game!

How likely is that going to happen?
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Whenever people have talked about a hide clothing option, someone invariably says 'people will just run around naked' but I've played a popular mmo where every item could be hidden (and dyed without restrictions but that's a different post) and hardly anyone was naked save for a very small number of people, but mostly it was just Barbarians leaning in to the role.

Even if we had a hide everything option, this game (despite its supposedly adult rating) would still show all the characters running around with weird underwear-shaped birthmarks on their birthday suits.

I understand the issues with breaking immersion if people are running around naked, but having seen how some players dress themselves I think plain un-dyed underwear would be an improvement :D

Perhaps users could get the option to have a default outfit applied whenever another player is only showing an underwear layer/s. Then players can wear (or not wear) what they want, but the rest of us can choose how we see them. It could be entertaining if we can choose what that default costume is!
