[FEEDBACK] Golden Pursuits & Free Styles, Great Job

I've read a handful of somewhat negative to mostly negative feedback on both the second round of Golden Pursuits (December 2024) and the free Skill Style bundle in the crown store. While i agree with some of the negative comments, like some color choices for certain skills and the level up requirement in GP despite many people being CP 3600, I do have to say, overall?

I'm very happy with the idea ZOs had with both, mostly with the skill styles. ZOS could have easily made this bundle with a price tag, maybe not like the Twilight Matriarch price tag, but they could have easily slapped on a 500-800-1,000 crown price on the bundle, but they chose not to. Whether that was out of the 10-year anniversary celebration or just because they weren't popular choices or they were not favored at the office discussion table, who knows, but it's free and i really appreciate that. I'm a huge fan of the Artic Wind: Orange, because it goes so well with the deadlands scorcher skin / deadlands - daedric outfit theme I have with my character who has that skill. Fatecarver Blue? Looks much more appealing, and better for the same reason, it looks nicer with my characters outfit!

The Golden Pursuits direction was a bit worrisome when it first released with such a small list of to-do's to check off, and while yes the costume was very nice, it just seemed meh. I've come to the realization and understanding that GP's first round was more of a "testing the waters," and the second round is phenomenal.

As someone who doesn't do most of the things on the list on a daily basis when i log in, it's a very nice change of pace and very fun to explore new parts of the map i have not ventured out to, or revisit old parts. The rewards this time are much better than a costume, the mount looks very well made and I'm really glad the mount even has subtle effects to it instead of being just a bland wolf, or fox, or bear with a different fur pattern.

While this is mostly positive, i still agree with some negative posts about GP. the level up requirements for certain rewards was confusing for a lot of my guild members who has already reached cap on all of their characters, nor do they want to make a new character just for the sake of a reward because it will both need them to buy crowns for another slot and waste a slot for a character they don't care about because it's only to get rewards.

GP also has the same ongoing issue with the "You have completed a Golden Pursuit!" prompt that i had mentioned in a previous discussion post, where other players have agreed and confirmed the problem, While yes it does go away when changing zones, i shouldn't have to change zones, or log out, after claiming just to make it go away.

Skill Styles i cannot complain about, mostly because i keep thinking: This is only the beginning. Eventually, down the road in lets say 2 years, we will hit a point where there will be multiple different color choices for one skill. bringing it back to Artic Wind, there will be a choice of:
- artic wind: original color
- artic wind: orange
- artic wind: verdant green
- artic wind: white ice
- artic wind: lilac purple
- artic wind: onyx black

and then when ZOs runs out of colors or colors become stale? visual effects:
- artic wind: dagon's flames
- artic wind: blood mist
- artic wind: flowers of galen
- artic wind: shadow's shroud
- artic wind: necromancers blue flame

It's in the baby steps, of course many people aren't going to like what's in the beginning stages.

Overall, again, i'm very happy with the decision of making the skill style bundle free, and the direction of golden pursuits. There are some things that I believe need a little more thinking and tweaks, but a strong start. Very excited to see what ZOS does with other skills, and hopefully they give werewolves and vampires more love in both scribing and skill styles.

Indeed. There might be some growing pains here and there (I also got confused with the leveling thing), but pursuits feel like a nice initiative overall.

Very much this! I suspect that the other Werewolf active abilities will get green Skill Styles, to follow the theme set by Roar, Verdant Green. I can definitely see a green-colored Hircine's Bounty looking cool!

I wonder what color Skill Styles the Vampire skill line will get first. Since the Vampire abilities are mostly red-colored, I would imagine they'd get purple or black Skill Styles first. Who knows? Plus, I imagine that the first Vampire Grimoire would be pretty useful, since by nature of it being a Vampire ability, it would benefit from the cost reduction of your current Stage.

Of course, there's so much that Skill Styles for the Werewolf Transformation Ultimate ability would mean for the Werewolf playstyle. The ability to change your fur color the way the Slate-Gray Summoned Bear Skill Style works has been a long-requested feature. A Werewolf Transformation Skill Style is more than just a simple ability color swap — such a Skill Style would affect your character's entire appearance while transformed! That's basically the same as equipping a Skin (for a texture swap) or a Polymorph (for a model swap).

Then of course in regards to Scribing, due to being restricted to only using Werewolf abilities while transformed, a Werewolf Grimoire would be Werewolf's 6th skill option — Werewolf players would then have to pick which ability they want to replace on their bar if they want to use this brand new ability exclusive to their Werewolf form. Scribing gives players an insane amount of customization, and due to the restrictive nature of Werewolf, there are a lot of effects and buffs that are currently inaccessible to Werewolf players that could be offered through the Scribing system.

Both Scribing and Skill Styling would have a massive impact on the Werewolf playstyle in particular, which doesn't have the freedoms that other playstyles naturally have.

PC/NA — Lone Werewolf, the Templar Khajiit Werewolf

Werewolf Should be Allowed to Sneak
Please give us Werewolf Skill Styles (for customizing our fur color), Grimoires/Scribing skills (to fill in the holes in our builds), and Companions (to transform with).

i am happy w/gp so far. i'm hoping next one won't require me to complete so many task but still make many tasks available to do.
You've had nature explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the living body explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the universe explained to you and you're bored with it, so now you want cheap thrills and, like, plenty of them....

I’m very much enjoying this round of Golden Pursuits, the rewards are on point.

The skill styles I haven’t really found much use for yet, but maybe that’ll change as time goes.

Glad you've put my thoughts into words, OP. Thank you and I agree.

I'll chime in to agree that I thought that this was very nice and a welcome bonus to the community.

Not everyone will find every color : skill pairing to be their cup of tea and that's okay. As this is the first effort and hopefully the first of many different options for everything - eventually.

In the meantime, I'll be enjoying my Orange Shalks, hehe.

We need more of this sort of stuff. Swag is great, good, or bad, but whatever. Having something to break up the typical grind is awesome... it's suggestive at least. For example, level a new toon... and you get rewarded for it... nows the time to go get that necro built...

    More more more... great stuff

This GP was the perfect time for them to release the 21st character slot in the crown store.

Legit, I've wanted it for a long time, I have 3 of all the classes except the arcanist because they only let me have two of them.

One more slot would round it all out for me, and it would allow me to make a new character and earn some levels.

    Missed opportunity.

    I'm enjoying them as well.
Gave me incentive to log into my new archaist and gain a few levels.
And then while playing rewards popped up here and there.

I'm not going to chase the rewards though unless something juicy comes up.

I have 2 accounts with 20 lvl 50 characters on both; I would love some additional slots.
I use the armorer to switch builds, but buying a third slot for my characters is too expensive.
