Multiple issues we've been seeing, along with other quality problems I've noticed, were not as bad until a certain company began to have a hand in things.

Isn't it funny that when the Microsoft acquisition was announced, the general sentiment was along the lines of, "Yay! Big Daddy and his unlimited checkbook is here to save the day! Now they can finally afford to fix all these problems!"

    And yet, here we are.

If Zenimax’s stocks were high from a successful product, they would not have been bought out.

People love to vilify Microsoft over every decision, and they do make some bad ones, but they have saved companies from bankruptcy, and who even knows if ESO would still be here if Microsoft didn’t bail them out.

ESO was doing fine before the acquisition. Everyone can see the quality drop soon after MS took hold.

Really, because all I’ve seen are incredible new systems like Infinite Archive, Scribing and a new PvP update after half a decade.

Within the current group that replaced the original creative team, ideas like Spellcrafting would NEVER have seen the light of day without external prodding, and I am happy for it.

You could ask 10 different people when ESO’s quality started declining and get 10 different responses, yet you, or anyone for that matter, can do a little research and see that stocks had in fact dipped when Zenimax was bought out.

Au contraire. Microsoft doesn't go round buying failing companies unless they want to scrape the last of the flesh off the bones. Can't think of one company Microsoft saved from bankruptcy. Plenty they bought and absorbed, stripped the valuable IP, threw away the husk. If that is the case for ZoS then ESO is doomed.

Alternatively, Microsoft bought ZoS because it has a stable of popular and profitable games. Ready-made profit! After all, ZoS was doing well enough to warrant a $7.5B buyout...

The third alternative, and unfortunately a very common one in the early days of Microsoft, is to buy out the successful competition and quietly kill off their products (Corel). Don't think that applies to ZoS/Bethesda/Activision, but you can see how they might want to rationalize their product lines...

This is in no way a definitive guide, but here’s a known trading strategy used by people who buy and sell stocks, as someone who does so themself, learning this was essential, enjoy.

All visible stocks of MMOs were fluctuating predictably during that time, which was why using CCA a business could bring to the table an educated offer knowing when to do a buyout.

If you don’t like my explanation, I can elaborate in DMs, like I said, show some respect to the OP.

Also; @I_killed_Vivec Microsoft saved Apple from bankruptcy, kind of a big deal.

I don't attribute any of this to being purchased by XBox. I doubt that they are micromanaging things to the feature level. I would be surprised if anyone in XBox management cared about Scribing outside of a bullet item on a Power Point. It would seem that the "original creative team" at ZOS was responsible for that, and the other new systems that they have been working on for the last couple years.

If anything, I expect that the purchase of Zenimax Media by XBox will have a net negative effect across the board. We have already seen this impact earlier this year when they closed studios.

    Greetings all,

As this thread has is not in regards to the game itself, we have decided best to close it. While we understand that our player base is invested in the studio, and what all may be happening, we do ask that all members of the community please keep in mind that these forums are dedicated to The Elder Scrolls Online itself, and that it please be kept as such.

We appreciate all of your continued interest and support, and your understanding!

    Warm regards,
