This game rewards having a large number of characters too much

Trials' "curated boxes," drops are once a week per character. So imagine doing nCR3 and then you get 755 gold because you already did the trial yesterday on the character tank. [snip]

It is quite annoying that I have to have multiple characters for transmutes as well. No one should be defending the fact that I have to run 13 random dungeon runs on 13 different characters. *edit* This will be enough runs for 130 transmutes to craft one set if you have it fully sticker booked. We don't even have a class token, so its honestly design negligence at this rate.

No you don't. You don't "have" to do anything of the sort. All of that is your choice. If you choose to do those things, great. If you change your mind and decide you don't want todo those things anymore, great. No one is sitting behind you forcing you to do one thing or the other.

I do not understand this view point at all. I do HAVE to if I want more perfected drops or more transmutes. Like what?!

I'm practically drowning in reconstructed gear that's serving no function other than to store 25 TCs per piece of gear. And I'm actively playing on just my main characters (1 per server), and I'm not running RNDs at all. I get all of my TCs from playing 3 NPC ToT matches every day and participating in my Cyrodiil home campaign on a semi-regular basis. I might not get 130 TCs per day, but the small amounts of TCs that I do get add up over time, such that I "have" to (i.e., want to) go reconstruct a few more daggers to store 50 to 100 TCs so I can continue to collect more without losing any due to the limit of 1000 TCs. Given the fact that I've already got probably 100 or more reconstructed daggers for storing 25 TCs apiece, I already have more than enough TCs to gear out all of my characters, so going over the limit and losing TCs shouldn't be an issue for me, but I have chosen to store TCs that way so I can keep earning more. And all of that is my choice, not something that anyone is forcing me to do, and it's without grinding any of the content that many players are obsessed about grinding in order to acquire huge amounts of TCs that they say they "need."

As for perfected drops, I haven't got a single piece of perfected gear and I'm able to play the way I want to play. I might not be the most powerful player, or have some cookie-cutter build that a bunch of number-crunching min-maxers have decreed are the absolute BIS META builds to have, but I'm able to have fun playing the game the way I enjoy playing the game.

I'm not trying to convince you to stop doing whatever it is you're doing, and to stop wanting whatever rewards you're wanting; I'm just trying to explain that your choices are determining what you say you "have" to do. You'd be amazed how much more fun you can have in the game if you stop grinding for everything that "the top players" have decreed that you "need" in order to be "a top player" like them, and just do the things you enjoy doing in the game just for the sheer fun of it. But it's your choice to make, not mine to dictate. Although I do wonder why you're letting "the top players" dictate what build and what gear and what activities you "need" to have/use/do in the game are.

Idk if blaming players for things zos does is the way at any point. Vet rewards are still vet rewards so should be distributed through actual encounters and clearing those, kinda logical to me.

I don't think unlocking a chest in normal and veteran is that much of a difference. I know in vet the minimum chest level is Intermediate, but any competent lockpick will be able to open that even if they are not forcing the lock. I do writs so I can buy stuff and I use the extra materials to make stuff (gear, furniture)

I try to be self sufficient as I don't have a lot of gold to go around buying writs from traders.

Not sure why you're bringing up an unlock level as it doesn't matter be it easy or master, it's the same easy system. It's about perfected gear that people were able to farm without doing the actual clear of the trial which is the intended way of getting perfected gear.

I'm guessing the unlock level was mentioned because it determines your chances of getting set gear versus non-set gear.

The only significant thing that multiple characters gets you is access to all classes. There are ways around most other limitations of a single character.

Maybe I should do TOT more, but doing Cyrodiil as DC is dreadful. I hate every minute of it due to the ball groups. I do not like the fact that PVP awards the most transmutes in ESO. I honestly hate how much PVP affects PVE, it really annoys me as a player. Still, I begrudging do it for transmutes. I have more fun in Imperial City, but balls groups takes that away. Not much fun element in PVP, IMO of course... I could play a MOBA and have a better/fun experience. ESO is my main game and I do this for transmutes/friends.

Top players don't dictate my builds. Quite the opposite, I want everything so that I can build anything. I am not there yet because I hit the vet wall of group organizing. I am more than willing to be a raid leader, but its a lot of work and its hard to find support roles who want to do vet. I will eventually run vCR as my friend group are preparing for it. My disgruntle responses come from how I can't get a full group together and how long it takes to get a group together (if you can get a group together). As for the exploit of nCR3, I honestly thought was a ZOS change due to what players told me in the trial, but I see now it wasn't. Shame Shame.

PVP is the bane of my existence because I bring non-meta builds in all the time. My PVP friends tell me to do meta things to kill people, but I ignore it every time in hopes of doing something different. I don't want to run wretched vitality and rallying cry, its boring and I am not having fun.

PVE is where I have fun and can build things that are cool. Even though most sets suck, Necros are unfun to play, Wardens can't have frost DPS and I always run out of transmutes.

So, in order for me to play the game how I want and to have fun, I must have transmutes to do so. I need transmutes to play the game the way I want to. I do not like a week cooldown on coffers per character. I do not like that you need multiple characters for coffers, transmutes, writs/earning gold mats, etc.

I'm not sure that's something ZOS has an interest in changing. That sort of "artificial" barrier is there for a reason (sometimes several) - ESO isn't the only MMO that does this....

and no one should give ZOS or any MMO an excuse to do something stupid like this. No point in looting chest in vet if they drop non-perfected gear. No wonder players run normal trials and bow out. That is if you are talking about the chest issue?

Well.... it's their game, and they do expect people to play it the way it's designed. The chest exploit was not the way it was designed, and it's their job to fix it. You (and any others doing this) should be very thankful that ZOS has so far not decided to action you for using an exploit.

I am not thankful because chest in vet drop non-perfected gear. STUPID STUPID STUPID.

You don’t have to have a meta build in Cyrodiil, I have 3 toons there and a “good enough” build works fine. I don’t think I have them golded out and I don’t use gold food. I often reconstruct new gear to try out and I am swimming in transmute crystals since I have had a home campaign for so long. I also ran trials for a couple of years and needed gear for that.

By the way, have you set a campaign as your home or are you just a guest and rely on the transmutes from RotW boxes? You get a couple of 50 transmute geodes at the end of campaign if it is your home, even if the faction does not win. The RotW are usually 4 each and I get only 1 or 2 of them per day.

What's wrong with doing a few crafting dailies on just one character?
What's wrong with doing a few normal randoms on the character I'm comfortable with?
I can solo 90% of the overland bosses in this game, so why can't I complete all the boss dailies in one zone with just one character? On my own, without waiting in the zone there will be 5 more players at night who will want to share the quest.

Different roles, different characters. I have a tank for 3dd groups, and a tank for more traditional 2dd/1h setups. I have a healer for PVE, a couple of healers for PVP, a PVP tank, and a few DPS that I get to dust off every now and again. I play them all whenever I feel the need to play them.

And to be fair, I don't WANT to do daily activities on more than one character. What a pain in the rear that is! I just do my dailies on one character and move on to play what I want.

I like the fact that Eso don't put to many gates for levelling alts. You can have options without (too much) grind.
But I would say having alts is only rewarding if you turn them into daily chore bots.

The trial coffers being weekly is a bit different topic though.

If this were possible it would have to be possible for all a player's characters, which would give those with alts an even bigger advantage. (If having multiple alts really is an advantage, which I don't believe it is.)

I had JUST finished collecting every normal Cloudrest piece in my Cloudrest stickerbook when the bug started awarding perfected pieces. Of course, Rellequen was the last one to complete since that was why I was doing it! I had been doing one or two Cloudrest runs almost daily at that point. When the weekly coffer started giving perfected pieces on practically the last day or so I filled my stickerbook, I thought, “Oh, I should keep going and do this on all 11 of my characters every week to get all the perfected versions!” But did I? No, I was too burned out from doing it so much up to that point for the regular versions. Now I’m a bit disappointed in myself for not doing that, but oh, well. I have the non-perfected Relequens I’m trying out on a couple of chars and will just have to make do with that I guess! 😊

No, it would be account wide. They can adjust how many daily rewards one character can get. Completely removing a crouch animation however is not possible and silly.

    Question for the OP.

Should I get upset that another player can play the game for longer than I can?

Because it really seems to me that the only real limiting factors between 1 character and many are time, energy, and desire.

Trust me I once had 600 characters spread over 50 accounts a lot of time can get eaten up just logging in to each one.

Time that could be spent enjoying the game.

My advice from someone that did massive farms... play the game to enjoy the game, don't play the game like it's your job.

If one character makes that work for awesome, if it's 333 then awesome. But don't grind to be the first to something, and don't grind to get something sooner. It will just make your experience worse, and no amount of complaining to zos will change that.

It will not resolve the conflict. The conflict is you're offended by the player's action. Report them with video evidence.

They won't because they know who you are and that it bothers you. Are you aware of this?

Making a game fun should be a priority. Making a game balanced should not come at the expense of fun.
