You can actually have more than 8 characters, but you have to buy more slots with crowns.

The forums will give you a biased sample size, some communities laugh at the forums and don’t participate as much as others. It’s not known to us what the most popular “endgame” is.

For me, it’s helping players who want to complete vet/hm/tri dungeons and achieving HMs/tris in trials for the time being.

The main reason for me is to quest through the regions in chronological order to get a constant fix of 'elder scrolls stories', I'm at Northern Elsweyr now (so that's maybe 65% of the quest content done) and I feel like this region might be the high point of the storytelling in the game based on some opinions I have seen about future chapters but I'm taking each region slowly and enjoying the scenery so to speak, usually also taking breaks after finishing each one, though lately I've been on a pretty long ESO-only run as far as gaming in general. Dunegons/WB/IA are okay once in a while, but I don't enjoy doing that content as much, appreciate that tank companions (and psijic ultimate) make most of that stuff soloable now so you can do the story at your own pace. I also made a vamp alt for the Dark Brotherhood quests.

I'm not sure what if anything will be the main draw after finishing overland, probably any exploration achievements I have left, maybe housing or fashion/stickerbook, or even vet dungeons.

Don't worry about what others (including me) have said about the content you have yet to see... it's just personal opinion.

Indeed I suspect that by taking things at your own pace and fully exploring each region you might find delight in the DLCs in ways others have not.

    Each to their own.

I've actually reached some of my end goals kind of recently:

    - Doing Fang Lair HM, no death and speedrun for the Worm Wizard personality.
    - Getting to CP 2018 (I was at CP 1018 before they revamped the system, and it was a big deal to me to have 1k more champ levels after that). (I sit at CP 2095 as of writing this post.)
    - Doing March of Sacrifices HM, no death and speedrun for the Beast personality.
    - Doing Scalecaller Peak HM, no death and speedrun for the Blackmarrow Necromancer skin.
    - Getting all of my 20 characters to level 50 and geared up (I have like 4 more character ideas but I ain't deleting any of these).

Some other end goals are collecting every motif page (I'm at 95% full motifs collected), collecting all furnishing plans (a task for the ages since players charge WAY too much for some and I refuse to pay outrageous prices for something like that), finishing furnishing all my WIP houses, filling all the antiquity furnishing codex entries and maybe getting one character to Legate rank just for the novelty of the deep black dye. Also probably some other things but it's 3 am and my brain is shutting off.

    Question...

The in game currency... What is it called? Gold? Septims? Well, whatever they call it, what exactly is anything of real value that you can buy with it? It doesn't matter if it's buying from a player or some NPC. Just... Anything. What is it that you won't get easily without paying for it in the in game currency?

What I buy from traders is mostly motifs I'm missing and furnishing plans (I have all the recipes, except for the Aetherial Ambrosia).

What I sell are also mostly motifs and furnishing, but also lower level mats, some alchemy mats and style pages. I use the guild traders to free inventory slots more than to make money.

From NPCs I buy furnishing items and sticker book items from the Golden if I'm not willing to do that dungeon.

For me I think it's fashion. Making my characters look good, my houses look good, that's what's important for when I do any other content. I like doing trials and battlegrounds but I'm not always in the mood for them, other times I might do zone stuff on my alts if I want to slightly roleplay them. Other than that I guess the real end game is just trying to have fun!

For me it's questing and forming stories in my head for my characters, decorating houses for them that reflect their stories and experiences, and waiting for new quest and story content and deciding who will go through that content as their main story. Outside of that, I also enjoy doing group content in the traditional MMO sense. Honestly I'm not thinking in terms of end game, I'm thinking in terms of ever evolving experiences and continuing the saga of the ancestors of my single player Elder Scrolls game characters.
