I tried it and I'd rather play eso, and the 12 year old hated it, he'd rather play roblox, so that's that.

Turning into a wolf thing is cool tho- can we get that here?

You tried tomato and lettuce but instead of eating a two ingredient salad you would rather play ESO with a "wolf thing" which sounds like a deritive of werewolf...I'm sorry, but what?

    Thrones and Liberty, dude.

Morphing into a wolf- like creature to run. Not a werewolf at all.

Presumably instead of pulling a mount out of our butts.

Lost me on the salad reference.

    Lmao, game’s amazing.
Nothing notably wrong with it, where one could compile an entire list with ESO.

Edit: except for the UI, that is a work in progress, and you can tell because some of the text is still in Korean from the port.

I’m sure we all want to just enjoy ESO again, but it’s a broken, poorly aged, product right now.

Graphics are outdated, engine is a mess, server stability is non-existent, and core concepts are yet to be realized even after a decade.

I love t&l, kinda addicted, was sad when I had to log into eso for core because I knew how laggy it was gonna be.

Once I'm done getting these last 2 titles I need I'm gone lol, saying that idk why this post was put on here 😂

They didn't tell us the catch.
    • Including massive-scale player-versus-player Minimum numbers defined in a service-level agreement
    • A variety of skills like fishing and cooking They left out drinking skill
    • co-op dungeons Players are forced to be nice
    • audio localized into English Smiley Gets a Gun
    • guild-focused gameplay maybe a survey would help...
I have some older games to go back to.
I signed up for Dual Universe years ago, but I'm under spec currently.

Think “B”acon “L”ettuce “T”omato but without the bacon and with the emphasis on tomato rather than lettuce. ;)

Nothing notably wrong with it? Eh, I dunno about that. Combat felt so clunky and outdated to me compared to ESO. Who releases tab target MMOs in 2024? Even on controller, combat feels deeply unsatisfying and awkward to play. The game is also hugely restrictive in terms of character slots and the servers you can play on. Only TWO character slots total across all servers (in an MMO, seriously?). If you mess up your look and want to delete/reroll the character, you have to wait an HOUR before the character slot actually frees up, PLUS you can’t use that character’s name again, ever. This is entirely by design, so that it’ll feel more “convenient” for you to buy an appearance change item for real money from the store. Also, good luck trying to play on a server your friends are playing on when character creation on that server is locked due to server load, or bugged out when the server isn’t under high load...

I really wanted it to be my next MMO, but I uninstalled it. Too many problems that couldn’t just be explained away by “normal launch hiccups.” For the cost of the lowest Lucent tier that would have made it possible for me to change my character’s appearance without losing their name, I was able to buy an entire AAA co-op game on Steam. I’ve been playing that instead.

The biggest thing that stood out to me was that the game play felt very disconnected. The combat did not feel like it flowed very well. Animations often feel janky and disjointed because they don't have good transitions or the transition is too abrupt.

ESO combat feels more dynamic and personal, and flows much better. Then again, ZOS has had 10 years to get combat working, and when ESO was a year old, the combat was not nearly as good. I don't know if T&L will be doing anything like that.

I think that T&L will scrape people who like "Korean MMO" games from the ESO player ranks, but I don't think it has as much broad appeal. Like I said elsewhere, I think New World is more of a threat.

According to users on Steam, trying to transfer your character to a server where character creation is locked will not work, so it's a moot point.

What the Eastern NA servers looked like shortly before I uninstalled, because I wasn't able to make a second character on the server where a few of my friends were playing...

Sadly I don't think there's anything that would actually threat ESO, as it's still TES related no matter if we like the lore it produces or not. I don't see any other major selling point for ESO currently, though it could be PvP if it wasn't mismanaged so heavily and brought to it's deathbed. Combat is still good but that's not much tbh.

To actually pose a genuine threat it should be really good and popular fantasy IP with a somewhat similar setting, like Witcher or Dark Souls/Elden Ring, Diablo (this ip is pretty damaged though) or Warhammer and have modern graphics with at least some form of physics and traversal which ESO is lacking severely. Obviously no tab targeting, even ESO's hybrid of it will do. Imo.

Agreed. Lord of the Rings Online 2 could be an ESO killer. I tried going back to LOTRO (which I played between 2007-2016), but the graphics and outdated combat system were just a dealbreaker in 2024. LOTRO 2 with modern graphics and an active combat system similar to ESO's would drag me away so fast, it's not even funny.

Mh, not sure what this thread here is about? A discussion of how to stop playing ESO the fastest way possible?

    Otherwise:
The ESO engine is 10 years old. Some stuff, specifically that released 10 years ago really look outdated with bad polycount and bad texture resolution.

Otherwise I think the graphics of the newer stuff is still very fine.

It may not hit the taste of younger folks today but it is still fine. But taste has nothing to do with graphics quality anyhow.

It's not really about people wanting to leave as fast as possible or talk about new game, it's about people craving for any competition possible for ESO to actually start doing something about their game. They have insane IP on their hands and people see it as mismanagement issue overall.

People get dazzled and caught with a new game. Of course! T&L is new! You can't rate or compare a game when it's just out. Give it years and see how it does with crowded servers and added stuff, processing, calculations, etc., plus repetitive content with people getting bored, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., as it happens to every game.

Yes, some games are garbarge from the start, true, but some are not. Still, you can't compare a new game to old games.

When something it's new and fresh, it oftenly caughts your eye because you're seeing new stuff. Then, when time passes, you start to find all the things that are not that good, you started to get pissed off, bored, etc.

With all the buzz generated about T&L in the other thread I decided to look at the reviews and descriptions. What I gathered was: guild oriented and no way to be really safe from PvP (PvP in dungeons at night??, and players can still be attacked even if they are not flagged for PvP). With that in mind, this is not an MMO for me.

Besides, since it's a free MMO, it HAS to have some limits on how fast you can progress or what you can do without investing a lot of RL money. Another turn off for sure.

A lot of assumptions made here that are incorrect.

I always suggest people play a game and get their own experience vs reading reviews/influencers thoughts on games. I haven't been attacked once and I don't have PvP enabled.
