I barely have time for two characters on one account, and I do play daily. I couldn't imagine trying to juggle more than that. Hats off to the players who can.

For PC players on Steam, do you have to make separate Steam accounts in order to have multiple ESO accounts?

I ask because I’m on console and over here we have to swap PSN/Xbox accounts to change between ESO accounts.

I only have 1 account. I'm not interesting in hording hundreds of items, especially if I have to keep switching between accounts to manage them, and I don't have time to play all the characters I've got on one account, so making even more would be useless for me.

Yes, Steam works the same way as consoles. The ESO account is linked to the Steam account, so in order to log into separate ESO accounts it requires having separate Steam accounts. And each Steam account also has to purchase its own copy of ESO, because ESO is not eligible for Steam Family Sharing.

I started ESO way before it was available on Steam (or consoles), so I've always used the Official Launcher from the ESO website. And with the Official Launcher we can log into separate ESO accounts (each account requires purchase) from the same installation (one at a time) since it's not linked to any specific account. [EDIT BECAUSE I'M DUMB] Every platform can login to separate accounts from the same installation.

2 accounts. 1 account with 18 characters that I play. Each character is "better" at some part of the game than the rest so who I play depends on what content i'm in the mood for that night. Second account has 6 or so maxed crafters that I used primarily for crafting writs to get gold mats, but now that materials are fairly cheap (cheap based on how easy it is to make that amount of gold) I don't really bother logging on to do my dailies. But, it is there should the economy require it.

I have one account with 7 characters (one for each class). It already feels overwhelming. Not sure how people manage it with multiple accounts.

I'm aware of the perks of other side accounts being pack mules and forming a personal guild for the bank space, but the time required is still not worth it. Just my two cents.

I'm the same way, 7 characters on one account, Magicka Sorcerer for PvE, Warden for PvP. even when I was doing crafting dailies with 7 characters it was quite time consuming and difficult. It takes quite a bit of time to switch to another account, doesn't it?

i have 2 accounts, created one for a specific purpose some months ago. wanted to test something, but it didnt worked out, so i abondoned it and havent logged in since. probably ill have a specific reason to play it again in the future, ill consider using it for storage purposes most likely as everything is flooded with stuff on my main account.

on the main account i have 10 characters but i actually only play 1 99% of the time since about a year. very rarely when i play a dungeon and we need a tank or healer ill relog and use my good tank or healer but beside that i use the chars only during the jubilee event for the event boxes. thats literally the only purpose of atleast 6 out of my 10 characters ^^ ill most likely create an 11th one before next years jubilee

There is a "perk" that most here in this thread seem to forget and that is that you can have all accounts character in the same game world at the same time which you can not with only a single account where only one character at a time can be seen and you have only that camera view.

By having two or more account you will see that what you can see with PoV from only one account isn't the same as if you watch your other characters. That put a very different view on strange visual behaviour that you might observe when you look other player while playing.

As for transfer between different character it is much easier to transfer items that aren't account or character bound through a personal guild bank then one make use of direct trading between two characters. Every account have access to five guild slots which in turn make it possible to join different guild for different purposes, like selling items in Guild Store/Trader or just keep an eye on Guild Chat for when somebody needs help or ask for help with something.

There are things that you can do which is the same as a couple of close friends would experience when they play grouped or even when you have a regular active members in a Guild that join together to do same content at the same time which is rare today.

The real limit after having purchased base game (today it will give you access up to Morrowind map) is that you will either have to have unlocked by purchase DLC content or have an active ESO+ (which auto unlock all DLC content as long you have an active ESO +) to get to those places and with Chapters up to Gold Road you will have to have purchased that content to be able to get your other accounts character in the same zone and content, so it is not free (with exception for those who had got some kind of give a way of base accounts) and it is time consuming to manage (read: inventory management) and play with several accounts.

I wouldn't have been able to handle that massive amount of items or kept track of events items etc without add on like Character Knowledge, but the it does also give you the opportunity to move items you have already collected for stickerbook from on one account to another account that haven't, so it is another type of game play where you collect items and gradually progress.

You can also role play your characters as you can virtually use your own Guild Chat and chat with your own characters like when you have a doll house (yes I had a doll house when I was a kid, the same way as I had electric train and LEGO).

I also have a much easier time time to learn crafting on my new account (the first account is from 2014) as I can craft and transfer items to character and account that haven't learned to craft those traits.

In short there is more to playing on multiple accounts then you can imagine just from all talk about mules or using Personal Guild Banks as you can go fishing with your other accounts character (ALT+TAB is your best friend here) or do criminal acts where you get some bounty and just play on the other account that haven't any bounty until that bounty have become reasonable low to use Counterfeit Pardon Edict/ Leniency Edict or just pay off the rest at Fence NPCs.

I have played on a single account from 2014, so when you bought more account in this year it is a very different way you can play with more accounts. So far I haven't unlocked any Companion and I don't really see how that it better (when you have other account that work much that same way), from my understanding Companions also are mostly negative when you handle TG or DB content where you steal or kill NPCs, so it is more fun to just have more option on how to play.

Just to make clear when you are grouped you can teleport, in most cases, to that group member and with a second account you can always be sure that when ever you play that you can get around in that zone.

As an example when doing Antiquity where you might have to cover different parts of map, you can now fast teleport to a close WS and then use your multi rider which we where given for free for some month ago and get there to dig up what ever that is there in ground. Same with map Survey and Treasure Maps as it can be very time consuming to teleport to any online and active Guild Members which might not be that active or even in the same maps as yourself.

I have 3 accounts, my main as 19 characters, second account has 5 characters and third has 8 characters. If I had not invested so much time and money in my main character on my original account, I would disown her, she is useless. Third account has much better luck! Which makes all the difference in a game.

The alt accounts were originally created because I did not have ESO+ and needed storage space. For years I played with just one character on my main account, till ZOS locked her up for weeks with a glitch, and I had to go create a new character just to be able to play the game, rapidly snowballed after that. In all, my main character was removed from the game 3 times due to glitches they came up with, in the end when she came back the third time she was never the same again. Killed a lot of my enthusiasm for the game that did.

There can be only one! At least for me. When I played the MMO Rift I had multiple accounts as Rift allowed multi-boxing. But that was more work than fun for me so I rarely used my other accounts except during the time they offered Season Passes. That was the only time having more than one account was worth it.

Frankly, I don't see how anyone can have more than one character and still have fun. But that's just me. You do you.

I mainly spend my money on medicinal herbs for PvP.

@Coo_PnT the answer to that is housing.... I am never happy with the buildings ZoS supply these days, I've gotten into the habit of hiding those where possible and building my own.

I prefer to spend my time doing that rather than farming Heartwood (which I have the most awful rng for) so I frequently end up buying it! Mundane Rune and Decorative Wax too...... cannot wait to see how the promised increased droprate next update translates to prices! Also although I do collect some style mats used in furniture myself, again I find it too time consuming, so I buy them and omg some of those still, even with price decreases, can drain a bank fast!

I do daily crafting writs across all 3 accounts, as I am on PC, with the associated addons, that reduces the time taken doing them. Pretty much anything I could wish to sell can be collected from those rewards...... materials(from rewards and surveys), Master Writs(either sell or do), vouchers from completed Master Writs converted into items to sell etc etc.

I'm in the process of building a house of books..... not a library... a house made of bookcases, the amount of Heartwood I've used is already eyewatering. :o

Technically but I don't actually use it for anything. It also owns almost nothing and is not in any guild. I made it, felt like it was stupid (for me not necessarily anyone else), and abandoned it. But it exists.
