Taking Elder Scroll! No strat required(world first for our camp)

Honestly as far as tactics go it really required none which was upsetting. My guild and I just rallied some 150 people and went horde mode on them. Eventually we got both scrolls and emperor. I was wondering has anyone really found strategies that work? Because the best ways to win seem to just out number the enemy. Even when defending keeps we found that just increasing our numbers was the most effective way. This was pretty upsetting :p I really wanted more than a guild wars 2 experience ya know? SO... to sum it up hordes of players > any strategy. Yes no? Thoughts?
I recorded a small video of the event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPvkzJaBQ3c

Yes it is like GW2 in that respect, however, how battles go and who wins will change with time as tactics change. Right now when in pvp the only thing people know how to do is go where everyone else is. People will figure out new tactics, I suspect small group tactics to take small places in mass while a large group puts pressure on castles to hold defenders in place. People have yet to identify who knows what they are doing. Havent seen a lot of Leaders on the battlefield that you can trust in their decisions, so right now it is mob rule. Just like GW2 leaders will emerge and the battle will change over time to be more complicated with multiple units working in coordination instead of being a giant mob just running around the battlefield without a clear strategy.

the reason theres nothing but the zerg is theres so few abilitys/skills that theres only a few diff build types being employed which leads to a overly boreing experience in a lot of cases.

Yeah its really too early to think that's how it will be.
lets give it a few weeks at least to see how things shape up.
In time things may very well change.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

Numbers help, but many small tactical groups have held off vast numbers of players with only 10-20 people.

This could not at all be farther from the truth. Like, this is so far beyond inaccurate it defies description.

I still feel that there is some strategy involved in which castle to attack. Last night i had it that Ebonheart was fighting the dominion (I'm Daggerfall Covenant) so we exploited the situation and attacked castles that both of them could not defend.

We were only a group of 25 but managed to take 3 castles even though we where vastly outnumbered. The problem lies most of the time with rallying everyone together so they can't be picked off one by one and u fight and move as a unit.

But lets be honest here. Realistically yes that is a "strategy" but nothing that you could ever depend on. It more or less came down to who had more where.

grats Bear and group on their cap.

I do think server balance and peak playtime is a factor is how much "zerg" you canget away with. on AB it's full or heavy load most of the time and just last night we had to make the call to abandon one of our favorite keeps to save the scroll after a blue wave that started out with 20-30 ended up an ocean in a push that drove us from ASH-->BB. on the final castle BB they had more numbers than they had on any of the other fights but like I said we made the call to give up one city to retain that and it was a tough fight even then, but they were driven back and we took our keeps back...

of course in a 3way fight there's never really a lull lol. Sometimes the biggest army does walk away with the shiny but there is less traditional zerg mentality here than in other overland PvP or RvR. A lot has to do with how organized the opposition is. As time goes the pvP guilds will be more and more that structure but it is very early to judge based on imbalanced servers yet. IMO

I think it is currently fun my favorite full scale war pvp experience i've played yet.

i know it seems faceroll but at least we have the coordination enough to gather that mass size of an army to be able to do that in the first place. the coordination for 100 of us actually gather at the right time is pretty sweet indeed. im on dominion on wabbajack as well.

ingame name is Snation been out there frequently since early relaease.

Edit: i wish i was there for that assault i got ingame maybe 20 minutes after that happened
