Why not having access to Tri stat pots/ingredients contradicts ,,the play the way you want paradigm“

Here on PC EU 200 tri start are roughly 90k. As someone who mainly plays PvP and is not into trading/crafting you would need to spend a significant amount of your time online to get the gold to afford those. Especially in PvP you need excellent magicka (at least for burst heals) and stamina sustain (core combat skills and vigor) to survive. Many skills now provide the major weapon/spell damage and crit chance buffs on both bars. In a significant amount of build situations getting those core major buffs from skills and then running tri stat potion is the best option. but unless you want to spend a significant share of your online time with gold farming, you have to make your build intentionally worse than it could be. I think this contradicts the ,,play the way you want“ paradigm.

Suggested solution: make tri stat potions or at least the tri stat specific ingredients avaible for AP.

Thanks for your time.

it's actually 4 ingredients. Columbine, Mountain Flower and Bugloss OR Lady Smock, though I think the health recovery on Lady Smock version of TriPots is a bit less. However, since health recovery basically doesn't exist in PVP it's not a big deal.

it's 500 tel var per sack and it has an rng component, but 500 tel var can be obtained in 2 minutes right outside the base camp door. upvote this idea!

Seems like a good alternative to me.

Tripots are a money sink in game and a money sink in crowns. They are ridiculously expensive to buy in both. I would agree that AP health pots should be tripots. This will ease mat costs for potions that use similar compounds.

Potions are really one of the only true money sinks in this game. You get done with most of the other stuff like buying bag space and feeding horses really quickly. After that all that is left is food and potions. The food is pretty cheap because of how long it lasts and the accessibility of the ingredients. People spam peoples in raids and pvp which is why the cost is so high. Just spend some time doing your daily crafting writs or farming IC and its super easy to never worry about pots.

“Play how you want” means you can wear (now almost) any gear on any class and use any class in PvP or PvE on any role iirc. Not that every setup is good and not that you can do one part of the game exclusively. ZOS really needs to clarify this with how many people misinterpret the slogan.

It is a money sink but it isn't necessary unless you consider that they prop up the value of certain mats by making numerous "top potions" use similar if not often the same ingredients, with one of the three swapped out. This also has the effect of devaluing many of the other mats to where they are dirt cheap because they are hardly used.

Crown and gem costs for crown tripots are rather obscene if you compare them to real life money. FTR, I don't buy crown pots, but I am sure some people do.

It's all well and good to say "just do your writs" but this goes back to the old conversation of whether a video game is supposed to be forced labor. If people choose to spend their time doing master writs on a dozen characters (and often on multiple accounts) that is all well and good. They can make anything they want in the game and have plenty left over to sell.

But to expect your average player, who doesn't have 8+ hours to spend in game, to only do writs and then log off, is unrealistic. So what you get is an unbalanced market for 5-6 mats that are used in various combinations for the half a dozen top potions in the game.

When they make alliance stam and magicka pots comparable to weapon/spell pots, there was an outpouring of complaints ahead of it. And it was fine. No one suffered on either side of the economy. I think alliance health pots should be tripots as well.

Yeah exactly I don’t think it’s good Game Design if you are forced to something you don’t enjoy like farming for tel var or gold before being able to actual play a mode you want to play. In those cases I would rather play a different game.

Just chiming in to say that buying tri-pots are not a money sink, because you are not buying them from an NPC.

Money sinks are when currency is deleted and removed from circulation.

When you buy tri-pots from a trader, you're simply transferring your gold from your account to another person's.

Sure, the trader participated in a money sink in order to list their item, but it's considerably smaller than the 80-100k gold that they are selling for. Most of that money is just being transferred and will stay within the economy.

ZoS should really add an option to create a bipot that would just have mag+stam without 3rd effect.\

They announced hybridysation of consumables as one of the things to happen this year but they didn't deliver. Not only weapon/spell crit and weapon/spell power are still separate effects but also there is a severe lack of alternatives to tripot and heroism pot..

Yeah I agree. Tri stat potions is around 400k here for 800 on pc eu. If you are not into the economy aspect of the game or don’t want to spend a huge part of your game time gold farming before playing PvP you have to sometimes deliberately Gimp your builds and use alliance power potions even if you have the major crit/power buffs.

Like you said a potion which just gives major stam/mag buff buyable with ap third would still make tri stat desirable but solve those issues.

I really wish they would allow for poisons to give JUST minir brutality or sorcery. Right now you cannot make a poison that does this without addition effects that reduce up time of sorcery and brutality to about 2.3 seconds, which is absolutely dog water every ten seconds when plar and dk have these buffs in their class kit.

I think it’s cool to have the minor buffs tied to class to promote class identity and group diversity. But you should be able to utilize them efficiently no matter if you are rather Stam or magicka focused

I mean, you had to level your character, acquire skills, gain CP, farm or craft gear, craft food in addition to crafting potions before you could play... it's all part of character building and progression, and the cornerstone of MMOs. The more you prepare your character the more effective it is, and if you want to be effective you have to put in the effort and time. Besides, there's so many avenues to getting potions or materials: writs, node farming, traders, telvar, infinite archive, or indirectly by selling AP and using the gold, log in rewards... I wouldn't mind it if they added a 4th potion available with AP (but I wouldn't want them to replace the current health ones because I like the invisibility option) but it's so easy to get pots.
