Long post incoming - sorry : ) Hope you still enjoy!
Dear collectors and other passerby
Since all the other threads about that topic got closed, i decided to open a new one.
No furnishing flora drops in Morrowind plant nodes or shroom beetlesVvardenfell special floral furnishings need an increased droprateFirst off, note that all numbers you’re gonna see are estimates based on my calculations and experiences and not official drop rates!
So it all started on April 28th in 2023 when i saw that gorgeous blue Pitcher Plant on TTC per chance, i can’t even recall anymore how that came. Thats when i started to get attached to rare drops and invested almost all time i spent ingame into researching and hunting these rare drops down, especially those Vvardenfell plant drops. It changed the game completely for me. I started to write these rare drops down for myself and hoarding them in one of my houses. Later on, i also created the Masters Guide to rare drops with every existing rare drop I’m aware of, which exist to this date in the game, here in the forum. You’ve probably already seen it by chance, in case you don’t, make sure to not miss out on it

Well over a year later, 511 days after my hunt started i am only missing a handful of items for my collection and am finally able to deliver some statistics about Vvardenfell rare plant drops. I spent quite a lot of time to put this together, unfortunately i didn’t do the statistics from the point I’ve started farming, so the numbers you’ll see would be a bit higher actually, but it doesn’t matter too much. More to that matter below tho, let’s jump into it!
On my journey to get all the rare drops ingame I’ve come to a point where i collected them all but those few Vvardenfell plants. I was constantly checking TTC and guild traders for more than a year now, several times almost every day, in order to find the missing plants. To put in perspective how hard it is to get those, i did some farming and datamining and put it together for you here. Since the Vvardenfell zone is pretty old yet, very few players are going for those drops specifically, so most drops are just pure luck but it’s very hard to get especially the blue ones yourself. Also, i don’t think many players are even aware of them, probably another reason why they are that hard to get the hands on.

Plants from Vvardenfell houses
Like you can see above, of all those 40 plants, there are 9 mushrooms which also drop from Plunder Skulls during witches festival, so those are not rare at all and pretty much worthless. A shame, they didn’t removed them from the Vvardenfell nodes drop table when they put them in the Plunder Skulls but that’s only what a collector’s mind would think i guess.
Of the remaining 31 plants, quite a few ones do come with the 2 for gold purchasable houses on Vvardenfell, Ald Velothi Harbor House and the Amaya Lake Lodge. Due to the plants not being bound, they aren’t really considered rare either:
- Fern, Strong Dusky - rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Flowers, Netch Cabbage - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Flowers, Netch Cabbage Patch - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell

Rare green plants drops
After subtracting those, we have only left 5 green plant drops which do not come with a house, neither do they drop from Plunder Skulls. They do get sold once in a while too, i was able to catch quite a few of them but didn’t really datamined on those. Here is what i was able to get in the last one and a half years both from farming myself or buying through a guild trader:
- 8x Fern, Ashen - rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- 10x Grass, Foxtail Cluster - rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes or shroom beetles on Vvardenfell
- 4x Plants, Ash Frond - rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
As you can see in this graphic below, compared to «Grass, Foxtail Cluster» for example, the following 2 rare drops seem to be much more common than the 3 above but they don’t come with any house either. Thats why i didn’t really checked for them on TTC and haven’t bought any, neither do i have some data therefore. You can see the ones i dropped myself in the coming sections.
- Plants, Lava Pitcher Shoots - rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Plants, Swamp Pitcher Shoots - rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
Rare blue & purple plant drops – the gems
That leaves us to some few gems which are really rare and insanely hard to get and only obtainable by picking clothing or alchemy nodes on Vvardenfell:
- Mushroom, Buttercake - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes or shroom beetles on Vvardenfell
- Mushrooms, Buttercake Stack - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes or shroom beetles on Vvardenfell
- Mushrooms, Lavaburst Sprouts - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes or shroom beetles on Vvardenfell
- Plant, Golden Lichen - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Shrub, Golden Lichen - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Plant, Hefty Elkhorn - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Plant, Young Elkhorn - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Plant, Lava Leaf - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Plants, Hanging Pitcher Cluster - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Plants, Hanging Pitcher Pair - very rarely from harvesting clothing and alchemy resource nodes on Vvardenfell
- Mushroom, Polyp Stinkhorn - extremely rarely from harvesting mushroom nodes or shroom beetles on Vvardenfell
Sold Vvardenfell plants
Those were the plants i was mainly interested in since i had the rest after a few weeks of checking traders already.
All those were listed on TTC only very few times during the last years, some even weren’t or only sold once since i started checking for listings on TTC in May 2023. Following a graphic of all listings (which automatically resulted in a sale) which got caught by TTC. I was able to get some sales before May 2023 from screenshots i took a year ago, i probably might miss a handful tho.
The red line makes the cut when i started checking. I was able to catch the green listings, couldn't get the black ones unfortunately. Also, those are just the sales which have been caught by TTC or the Eso Hub addon, it’s pretty likely i do miss a few which were not caught by either of the addons. But not much for sure.
Picture in better qualityFarm route
Initially i decided i would not stop farming till i got one of those rare blue drops, aswell as a drop from a shroom beetle and after finding a good farm route for my job, I started farming a lot of Vvardenfell plants during the last months and year.
The Addon «
HarvestRoute» in addition to Harvest Map helped me to find a good route which fits the purposes of my farming. With this addon you can select the nodes which you are interested to farm, which were alchemy and clothing nodes in my case and then choose the length of the farm route. The addon then checks in which area of the zone the node density is the highest, given the length you’ve entered and puts together a farm route for you. To make sure you can run the whole route without cliffs in your way you can also adjust the route later. You could even start tracking your own route by just harvesting nodes in your way, so you are 100% sure there are no obstacles in between. Because i didn’t know about the respawn time of the nodes i made the route as long as possible and that’s what the addon put together for me:
That route took me about 30min to finish, included 221 nodes and was 10’632m long, more about that later on. I still don’t know what the respawn time is but i thought, "The longer the route, the more time to respawn the nodes." That didn’t really worked out, because after every route i had significantly less nodes when running another round right away. I found out that it would help a lot to just port to another zone every time i finished a round and come back to continue farming. So i probably could’ve chosen a shorter route with a higher node density but anyways. Regarding my statistics i already started at that time, i sticked with the route so i have the most accurate outcome in my calculations.
Statistics and calculationsNotice that all the numbers you’re gonna see below are with the green CP tree node for double resource drops (Plentiful Harvest) and the node for decreased harvesting time (Master Gatherer) in reference to the amount of harvested plants and time farmed.Nodes and shroom beetles
Now to the part you’re probably here for. For the statistics i used an addon called «
RNG Hate Counter» which can count the amount of enemies you kill. In my case i was interested in how many shroom beetles i kill. You may think how that would help me for my calculations?
First off, i wanted to know how many shroom beetles it would take me to kill in order to get a rare plant drop off a shroom beetle. And secondly i didn’t wanted to count every single node i harvested in order to be able to deliver some statistics. So i sat down and counted the amount of collected nodes myself of some farm rounds and also checked how many beetles i killed that round with the addon to get some kind of average. I did that quite a few times, here are the numbers, round by round and in total:
Harvested nodes (counted): 5080
Killed shroom beetles (counted): 2775
Average amount of harvested nodes per round: 121
Average amount of killed shroom beetles per round: 66
In order to calculate the amount of farmed alchemy/clothing nodes i then just took my counted and harvested nodes per round and divided that by the amount of killed beetles during my counting. Ofc that won’t get me exact numbers but exact enough for my purpose.
5080 / 2775 =
1.831 nodes per beetle
That gives us an estimated 1.831 alchemy/clothing nodes per killed beetle and thats how i ended up calculating how many nodes i have harvested. During my whole farming i killed a total of 11'188 shroom beetles, so if we multiply that number with 1.831 we end up with the following harvested alchemy/clothing nodes:
Total killed shroom beetles:
11’188 shroom beetles
Total harvested nodes: 11’188 * 1.831 =
20’485 nodesVvardenfell plant drops
Beside I didn’t datamined from the beginning, unfortunately i also didn’t wrote down after how many shroom beetles/nodes i got my plant drops for the first 7 drops but i remember it was pretty exactly about every 1100 nodes (roughly 600 shroom beetles in my counter addon) with 1 exception where i got 2 plants in 1 farm round.
So here’s a diagram of my plant drops (estimated till drop 7) of an overall amount of 20’485 harvested alchemy/clothing nodes and 11’188 killed shroom beetles.
Picture in better quality
Here is a full overview over all my farmed plants:
Estimated drop rates
If i had to guess, i would assume the chance of getting these plants is 0.1% for green ones (1/1000 nodes), 0.01% for blue ones (1/10'000 nodes) and 0.001% for a purple plant (1/100'000 nodes). The probability for a specific plant is even much more discouraging. For green ones, you could harvest over 16'000 nodes and not get the specific green plant you desire. I harvested over 20'000 nodes and am still missing 3 green plants and mushrooms. Since there are also 16 different blue plants which can drop, you could possibly harvest 160'000 nodes and not get the blue plant drop you’ve been looking for. But these are just very rough estimates based on my experiences, i have no clue about the actual drop rate of these plants. I honestly don't know if mushrooms have a better chance to drop off mushroom nodes because only the mushroom nodes dropped mushroom furnishing plants for me. Have heard different tho, probably anyone has some information here? Also, if anyone remembers or even has proof of ever dropped a plant from a shroom beetle that would be awesome to know too.
Average ancestor silk, alchemy plants & crawlers
After a long time of farming already i thought it would be cool to see how many resources i farmed while going for those rare drops, so i started to track down how many alchemy plants and ancestor silks i got each round. I also counted the amount of crawlers i got from shroom beetles aswell as plant nodes every round just because i was interested.
I used the addon «
Dolgubon's Lazy Farming» for that, I could then review all my farmed mats after every round. Here is the link if anyone wants to use it for his own farming purposes.
That way i could then recreate an estimated amount of resources and crawlers I’ve farmed during all that time. Of course it would’ve been much more precise if i started to count each and every round for the rest of the farming but to be honest i was a bit too lazy for that, so i just did it for a few rounds. Precise enough i thought. Here are the numbers to that, round by round.
Average amount of gathered silk per round: 250
Average amount of gathered alchemy plants per round: 110
Average amount of gathered crawlers per round: 100
Farming rounds, Farming time and distance traveled
During my whole farming progress my character ran an insane distance and spent quite a lot of time farming for those plants. To find out my estimated farming time i first had to calculate the amount of farm rounds i did.
So based on our calculations above i harvested 20’485 nodes during my farming. If we divide that by the average amount of harvested nodes per round, we should end up with the number of rounds i ran. We can also calculate this with the killed shroom beetles and should get the same result.
Calculation with nodes: 20’485 / 121 = 169,2 rounds
Calculation with shroom beetles: 11’188 / 66 =
169,5 rounds
Seems like my averages are kinda ok : )
In order to get some statistics for my spent farming time, i looked on the clock for quite a few farm rounds and the time was between 28min and 33min every round, so i just took the average of roughly 30min per farm round.
That results in the following total farming time. At first it may not sound like a lot but if you imagine spending that amount of raw farming time only running over Vvardenfell and harvesting nodes, it’s still considerable pretty much. And remember it also took me time to find an optimized farm route beside i didn’t do the statistics from the beginning on.
169,5 farm rounds * 30min = 5085 min =
84,75h total farming time
Almost 85 hours of my life for one single blue plant drop… *Sigh*
When we multiply the rounds by the total distance of my farm route (10’632m), my character travelled some really impressive distance during my farming process:
169,5 rounds * 10’632m = 1’802’124m =
1’802.124km total distance travelledTotal farmed resources
We can now also calculate the total amount of farmed resources by multiplying our averages per round by the number of rounds I ran.
Estimated amount of total gathered silk: 250 * 169,5 =
42’375 ancestor silk
Estimated amount of total gathered alchemy plants: 110 * 169,5 =
18’645 alchemy plants
Estimated amount of total gathered crawlers: 100 * 169,5 =
16’950 crawlers
I also ended up with an impressive amount of Pulverized & Aurbic Amber from collecting Psijic Portals and Viridian Dust from killing mobs and harvesting on Vvardenfell. I’m aware I had some Aurbic Amber and Viridian Dust already when I started farming but it wasn’t much. Didn’t datamined on these unfortunately.
Gold from farmed resources
I thought it would also be interesting to calculate the amount of gold I made during my farm rounds too. That’s not easy to calculate tho and will give us only very rough estimates. Since I didn’t wrote down which and how much of each alchemy plants I harvested per round, that’s especially hard to calculate and inconsistent because of the big difference in value of each plant.
But we can do it for crawlers and ancestor silk. Due to inflation, prices are now much lower than when I collected most of the resources but unfortunately can't do anything against that : ). Crawlers do sell for about 13 gold a piece and raw ancestor silk for about 95 gold per piece as of today (all sale averages as of 19.09.24).
Generated gold from crawlers: 16’950 * 13 = 220’350 gold
Generated gold from harvested ancestor silk: 42’375 * 95 = 4’025’625 gold
If we add and multiply like 25 farmed Aurbic Amber, 90 pulverized Aurbic Amber and about 1800 farmed Viridian Dust with the following item gold prices we end up with that:
Estimated farmed Aurbic Amber: 25 * ~32’000 gold = 800’000 gold
Estimated farmed pulverized Aurbic Amber: 90 * ~2600 gold = 234’000 gold
Estimated farmed Viridian Dust: 1800 * ~90 gold = 162’000 gold
So I made around
5’441’975 gold by just picking some clothing nodes, alchemy nodes excluded : )
Farmed stuff beside Vvardenfell plants
I additionally noticed everything remarkable like paintings, furnishing plans or motifs i was able to catch during my farming rounds by collecting psijic portals or chests and some few backpacks which were on my way. Note that i didn’t had the green CP node for better quality items from chests active.
Here again, in the right order and with the source I got them from (from when i started checking).
For the Telvanni paintings which drop from chests on Vvardenfell, the difficulty of the chests didn’t seem to matter if a painting drops or not. Had several masters chests and i can’t remember to drop one out of them and then on the other hand i got some paintings from easy chests. I wasn’t focused on how many chests i opened but it really was a lot and weirdly i got almost all my Telvanni paintings in stacks in some few farm rounds. I have no clue why that happened, the RNG gods were probably just pouring some luck on me then.
Refining farmed materials and values
Last but not least I also refined all harvested ancestor silk during my farm rounds and ended with the following outcome:
Refined raw ancestor silk: 42’370
Ancestor silk received: 35'957
For Dreugh Wax that makes a drop rate of 0,91% per ancestor silk or 9,1% per stack you can refine. That’s almost doubled the chance of what I experienced in the refinings I did in the past 3 years (0,53% per silk). Seems like I was lucky here atleast : )
If we calculate the current market value of these tannings, with Hemmings and Embroiderys beeing worth 9 gold per piece, Mastics 154 gold and Dreugh Wax 11,625 gold, i made this much profit from just the tannings from refining:
Hemmings: 741 * 9 gold = 6’669 gold
Embroiderys: 568 * 9 gold = 5’112 gold
Mastic: 338 * 154 gold = 52’052 gold
Dreugh Wax: 221 * 11,625 gold = 2’569’125 gold
If we add the refined ancestor silk too, valued at 26 gold per piece that makes even a bit more:
Ancestor silk: 35'957 * 26 gold = 934'882 gold
Generated gold from refining: 6’669 + 5’112 + 52’052 + 2’569’125 + 934'882 =
3’567’840 gold
So over my whole time farming for Vvardenfell rare drops i made an astonishing profit of
9’009’815 gold! If i would add all additional stuff like the motifs and paintings i got and also could calculate the alchemy plants, it would probably be well over 10M or even more!
Closing words
Even tho I initially really wanted to get one of the rare blue plants to drop and not just those lame plunder skulls fake rare drops mushrooms and also just any drop from shroom beetles at all, after over 11'188+ killed shroom beetles without a single drop and over 20'845 harvested nodes with only that 1 worthless mushroom blue plant drop i gave up. I decided to stop for a while and release the statistics as they are for now, since this project is going for a very long time already. Probably i'll someday provide an update on this.
For now, i will rely on others to sell the plants I’m missing in order to probably complete my collection someday. If you happen to have any of these rare blue or purple plants laying somewhere in one of your houses or storage containers, you would actually help me so much to get closer to the finish line! : D
I will probably start farming again later in autumn or winter but i will likely try to find a shorter/more optimized farm route.
So in fact, i ran over Tamriel for almost 85 hours of my life in order to try my luck on the Vvardenfell rare plants, killed 11’188+ shroom beetles and harvested 20’485+ nodes. I gained 18’645+ alchemy plants, over 42’375+ ancestor silk and 16’950+ crawlers and travelled a distance of over 1’800 kilometers (1118 miles for US people) in almost 170 farm rounds...
I must be crazy...
If you still decided to go out and farm these (especially blue) plants yourself after reading that post, i wish you the best of luck! : ) You’ll definitely need it.
Well, finally, all that remains for me is to thank you for reading this post! It was a lot of work and i put endless hours into this. Not just the farming itself, also the statistics with the graphics, the calculations and even to write this post. But i had a lot of fun doing it and i hope you enjoyed : )
Cheers, your Elder
Screenshots of all harvested plants
To end this post, I’ll put all screenshots I’ve taken from all my 21 Vvardenfell rare drop plants in here for you. I hope you can see anything, my font seems to be a bit blurry if the picture isn’t full screen.
