UI crashes instantly when placed on map

After logging in and being placed in the world I can see the surroundings and the chatbox for a split second, unable to interact or move the avatar, after which the screen goes black from what it cannot recover (only the mouse cursor is visible & movable).
This happens every time I log in, making it impossible to play.

-All drivers are up to date
-Game has admin rights
-Game v.1.0.0.962092
-Repair had no effect
-Reinstall had no effect
-Running different-sized windowed modes or fullscreen has the same issue
-Resizing windows has no effect
-No overclock or crossfire
-Closing the launcher after starting the game has no effect

The first time this happened, an error message popped on the screen, it was visible for a 10th of a second and complained about an UI error, hasn't showed up a second time. Ideas?

Weird, activating a VPN fixed the issue:
When I was placed on the map in Grahtwood, the avatar stood there for one second, after which the game by itself started to load the Malabal Tor map, from where I was able to teleport back to Grahtwood.
The issue might have been caused by the avatar standing between those two maps (no gates, just a road) but I can't see why, after struggling for 5 hours, using a VPN fixed it? Coincidence perhaps?

I can only think of two reasons that a VPN could have helped you with this. If there was an internet bad hop that you bypassed by using the VPN. Or more likely you have a port issue on your router/firewall. Eso requires two ranges of ports to be open to work properly. Let me see if I can find the CSR link on how to fix the port issue

Aye that would be appreciated, at the moment all ports for ipv4 are (and were) open, would be nice to close those that are not needed.

I messeged a CSR tech and asked for him to look at this thread and give you the link. It's either the router or firewall in my opinion. I could be wrong. I can't easily search the boards for the link on a smartphone

To test you can try turning off your firewall to see if it's that. If it's your router you can try plugging into your cable modem directly to see if you can tell which is your problem. Once you know which it is. We can hopefully figure out a fix

Wouldn't say it was the firewall, all ports were open during the time.

I think it might have had something to do with my character being placed right between two maps, making the game instantly load the other zone when I logged in, somehow messing up the UI.

You could be right. And the VPN was just a coincidence.
