What I do not understand is why people insist on teabagging. Everyone knows what it stands for. Why not choose something different that is less controversial? We have a bunch of emotes that could be suitable (including the annoying trumpet).

So, in my opinion, if someone insists on doing it while knowing the "background" of this action (or continue doing it after finding out about it) then they consciously choosing to humiliate the opponent in a very specific way. The only exception that I can see here is when a group of friends agree on this and play together without doing it to some other random people around. But if that was the case, no one would need to ask questions about the legitimacy of teabagging on the forums.

And no amount of "it's funny" or "it's always been part of PvP" or "people are so sensitive now" will change my opinion on the matter.

PS: I do not PvP, so I'm not a "salty victim" here.
