Cannot use non-curated bound signature scripts on alts

RobertJFCalais
To start this off, yes, I did use this forum's awful seach feature and I came up with absolutely nothing regarding my issue. Asking on map chats never got me a single response and I know about one other player with the same issue - they're from one of my guilds and noone could help them... or rather, noone responded.

Now, here's a screenshot with all the relevant information.

Since my inventory covers up the quest log, I'll point out that I did the first scribing quest. As you can see, my character is level 31. He also already has a scribed skill on his skill bar. Two, actually... the other one is on my second skill bar.
The problem is: I cannot use non-curated signature scripts acquired through the 25% drop chance from doing guild daily quests. All the signature scripts seen in my character's inventory were collected by himself.
I remember a loading screen telling me that I can delve into scribing if I have either unlocked the champion system or reached level 30. Which in itself is a pretty stupid statement, because the entire "unlocked the champion system" remark is utterly pointless. The champion system has nothing to do with scribing, you just need to be level 30, period.

So, what's the issue here? Why can my character not use his very own signature scripts? The only scripts I could actually use were those found across Mages Guild halls and bought <snip>

Edit: This is an alt. My main character has done every scribing quest and unlocked (and scribed) every single grimoire in the game. My main character also has all the script files from two of the three categories learned.

What do Guild Wars 2 and The Elder Scrolls Online have in common?
Both have a sword skill called "Flurry" with animations so outright ungodly terrible, they're without equal.

I wonder if this is the script change that is coming in the next update - some scripts are unusable by under level 50 characters IIRC; so at level 31 your character could be having the problem.

Now mind - this is all from what little memory I seem to have while it's 15 degrees hotter than normal. So I might be totally wrong. I suggest you read the PTS patch notes for Update 43; you can find them here:

You don't need to be "level 30, period." I did the first quest on a level 4 character. That's where the CP on the account comes in. It's either having CP (and whatever level character) or being on a level 30+ character.

    Well, the more you know.

I was under the impression - and told so - that I needed to be level 30 to be able to begin these quests, which is why the character in the screenshot was level 31. He gained a level-up from the introduction quest.

Yet another badly-thought-through design. Every other crafting-related quests requires level six or above. I remember this being very specifically mentioned somewhere.

Also, how on Earth do you reply to someone on these forums? I can see a cogwheel next to other people's messages, but clicking it does absolutely nothing.

You can click the "Quote" button below someone's post; or you can use @theperson'sname - in other words, @TaSheen for me, @virtus753 etc in the text field.

There should be a "quote" option on bottom of message, which essentially replies with that specific comment added as block text to start of your new comment.

    *sighs*

I can think of three better ways that loading screen hint could have been worded. The way it is, it makes people assume they have to be level 30 to start the quest. I've had a discussion about this with one of my guilds yesterday and never did it cross the minds of anyone involved with said discussion to try and start these quests on a character below level 30.

Yet another the more you know moment.

In other words: Cause unknown, solution nonexistant. Well, I'll be damned.
I started this quest line on another character because these script files, which - for reasons yet to be determined - do not stack, are stuffing up my already extremely full bank.
I cannot fathom how it never crossed the minds of the executives at Zenimax to add an ESO Plus-exclusive, infinitely-sized inventory tab exclusive to furnishings. Recently, I've read about Zenimax possibly experimenting with furniture extraction and if I'm being terribly honest, I don't see the use in this unless it specifically applies to antiquity furnishings, since the furnishings sitting in my bank are certainly not sitting in my bank because I have no use for them, else I'd just sell them. They're there because I wanted them.
I have since resorted to keeping the script files my characters find within their own inventories and that can't be the solution either, since inventory space isn't exactly unlimited.

Edit: I started exploring Cyrodiil yesterday and ended up completing every single quest in that zone, some even more than once because I didn't realize they were repeatable (which would explain why the experience they give towards the Assault and Support skill trees is a <snip> joke) and whenever they gave me a script file, it was always a duplicate, even though I was still missing certain script files from each category. That only makes the situation worse.

Excuse me? I don't appreciate you sniping at me when I offered at least some info.

I think you will need to be doing PvP activities for Assault and Support skill lines to level up.

Things like repairing walls count but PvE town quests do not.

So far I have been able to complete all of the scribing scripts just by doing the three West Weald dailies. I am putting duplicates into the bank and passing them along to alts now.

Also, if you are getting duplicates make sure your character has learned the scripts. If you don’t use them then they are not added to the list for curation. Just picking them up and having them in your inventory does not help.
