Infinite Archive Update

In response to patch notes and Stream preview (will update if I get a chance to check out on PTS):

I’m glad to see new additions to the Archive still in keeping with the Apocrypha aesthetic and look forward to facing the marauders and arena types. Additional quests sound good too and I hope that they award archival currency so that we can choose the reward we prefer. :)

While I realize it is probably too late to add now, I would like the following considered for future updates:
- More antiquity leads in Filer Ool’s weekly selection, ideally three to four each week, including single lead items and not only the multi-part. Static leads (not RNG dependent) such as tapestry scraps and pieces of the alchemy table should be eliminated from the selection.
- Additional readable book furnishings, such as the new lore books in the Gold Road prologue quest.
- Additional Apocrypha furnishing plans. I LOVE those that we now have access too, but there are additional that would be very useful, such as ramp and spiraling versions of the bridges (as encountered in several delves in Apocrypha).

im pretty interested in seeing what the new verses/visions are, and wondering if any of them will be even close to how useful focused efforts is lol

Good point! I knew I’d forgotten something. It would be nice to see the completely useless visions (gold and XP boosts) removed. Maybe some of the other visions could also either be increased in strength or made less specific? I know the intent is for RNG to be a factor, but more middle ground between useless and amazing would be a good thing in my opinion.

well more visions in the pool will be less chance those less useful ones appear

or even if they just introduce a banish mechanic to remove one from the drop pool

most of my characters dont use alchemical poisons either so that vision is also unhelpful lol

i dont have the PTS though so i cant check what the new verses/visions are that they added in this update

    Here's the few I found from running Arc 1 on PTS;

    Verses;
    *Tempest
    - summon the aid of a tempest caller who generates an immense storm on your location
dealing 27064 shock damage to nearby enemies.
In addition, a constant bombardment of lightning strikes target enemies within 25 meters.
This can be used every 30 seconds
    *Grasping Limbs
-Every 10 seconds a skeletal hand will ensnare enemies within 20 meters, Immobilizing them for 3 seconds.
Each snared enemy restores 385 mag and 260 stam.
    *Reflected Ruin
-Store blocked damage and release it at enemies using bash.
Blocking damage instantly heals your party for 50% of the amount blocked.
Bash triggers reflected ruin which consumes all stored damage and deals physical damage in the amount of the stored damage. The damage increases based on your max health.
Bashing with at least 5000 damage stored expands reflected ruin to hit all enemies within 20m.
    *Temporal Speed
    -Your speed is unmatched!
Your movement speed increases by 35%. In addition, every 1 sec while you are moving you will leave a temporal echo in your wake,
which leeches speed from nearby enemies. 5 temporal echoes can be up at a time.
    *Phalanx
-Request the aid of ghostly defenders!
You may call a defensive wall of soldiers to blockade your position. Every 1 sec the soldiers will attempt to stagger nearby foes.
In addition, while behind the soldiers you gain a damage shield every 5 sec equal to 20413.
this can be used every 30 sec.

    VIsions;
    *Quickened Tinctures
-Your potions are more readily available!
The cooldown of potions is reduced by 1 second per stack.

    Avatar visions;
*Necrotic Strikes (part of the necrotic set)
-damage dealt by magic attacks increased by 15%
*Necrotic Support (part of the necrotic set)
    -Fallen enemies restore your vigor!
Every enemy slain during combat restores 2204 health, 1006 mag and 715 stam.
(get all 3 to gain access to the Undead Avatar offensive verse)

(editing to add more as I gettem)

I did not test it myself but judging from the name and such it might be Bahsei transformation from Rockgrove.

    A lich!

Probably not the best showing since it's looks like it built for non boss rounds but here is it nevertheless.

    https://youtu.be/l6eMHjTWtk4?si=P6opBARo5GSBr3AC

Also to add on what @k5k has

    Verses
Extravagant Elixirs: Consuming a potion creates a shower of elixirs that target nearby enemies and random nearby locations. Enemies affected by an elixir are reduced in size for 15 seconds. During this time, their Damage Done is reduced by 25%, Damage Taken is increased by 25% and their movement speed is increased by 50%.

    Visions
Adaptive Defender: Your defenses tighten when you're most vulnerable
You take reduced damage proportional to your missing health. This reduction has a limit based on the number stacks obtained. Each stack increases the limit by 4%
At 1 stack: If you are 96% Health then you'll take 4% less damage

    Adaptive Conqueror: Your strength rises!
You deal increased damage based on the current Ultimate value you have. When you reach 500 Ultimate, your damage is increased by another 5%. In addition, Ultimate costs are increased by 8% per stack.
(At 1 Stack at 250 ultimate: Current Bonus: 2%, Cost Increase: 8%)
(At 1 Stack at 500 Ultimate: Current Bonus 10%, Cost Increase: 8%)

Prickly Retort: Redirect blows back at their attacker!
Enemies within 15 meters that deal direct damage to you are dealt 8301 Physical Damage. Damage is increased by 30% per stack.

Storm Projection: Your direct attacks are bolts of lightning!
Your shock damage is increased by 3% per stack. In addition, any direct attacks against a target cause a bolt of lightning to arc from it to another nearby target dealing 10210 Shock Damage. This can happen once every 10 seconds.

I thought it would be more impressive, that's just the Lich polymorph with slightly different looking effects.

Does not look to be as powerful as the Werewolf Behemoth, it says it gives a 30% damage buff and summons all them skeletons but the Behemoth gives you like 10,000 more weapon and spell power.

To be fair, I think it was intended for the non boss fight stages. It gets more powerful the more enemies you kill and the minions fear enemies according to the tooltip. Just thought I show it off since the question was asked and I got lucky.

Give us save option and fix visions. Focused Efforts need to be heavily nerfed, Attuned Enchantments needs to not work with Weakening, and almost all other visions need to be buffed as compensation. The gold and experience gain visions need to be removed.

I can't believe people don't see the problem here but as long as FE remains the way it is, it is the ONLY viable strategy in the endgame and I personally find the EleSus spam extremely monotonic and creativity killing. As long as FE doesn't get nerfed, nothing will change - how good your run is will always depend largely on how many FEs you got.

It has been almost a year. Instead of adding more random content that doesn't matter on a fundamental level, can we FIX what's wrong with the place for starters? You can add all the new cutesy bosses and verses and visions, but in the end the number of FEs you crack open will determine whether your run is worth continuing past arc 4, and if it is, you can rest assured that the only viable strategy is to spam Elemental Susceptibility at everything.

I agree with the first part. But instead of nerfing Focussed Efforts, everything else should be brought closer in power to FE.

I don't think you understand. When you buff every other vision, you just cause power creep but the meta stays the same. When you buff other visions but leave FE as it is, you also buff your status effect damage which also buffs the FE builds. Why would anyone play anything other than the meta strategy which just got further buffed?

As long as Focused Efforts remains as it is, the only viable strategy for deep runs will be the status effect spam.

There's nothing wrong about nerfing overpowered things. Just buffing things only results in power creep. By any objective metric, Focused Efforts is overperforming by an extreme margin. When you have 4-5 FEs over 90% of your damage comes from status effects. Why are people so against nerfing what's clearly an unhealthy and overpowered vision that creates a stale meta?

The gold and experience gain visions need to be removed.

I find the experience vision quite useful when I spam low arcs to level companions or new abilities. You don't need to take it. The IA is not just about getting as high as possible each time.

I agree, don’t nerf Focused Efforts, let there be something worthwhile at least. But I agree there should be at least some additional visions as good, and the more specific ones should be better to reward someone for having the option in their build. The completely useless visions should be completely removed — the Infinite Archive is a terrible source of gold or XP, not that it needs to rears more, but the point is the visions should go as increasing a pittance by a percentage still gives a pittance, and there will always be visions worthless to your particular build anyway, so no need to have universally useless ones. But it would be nice to see some increase to rewards. Ideally more Archival Currency so players can buy what they want. The overland sets are pointless clutter, not that some aren’t decent but they’re easy to get from the source or from traders if desired.

Really? It seems to me to give XP much slower than dolmens or public dungeons, much less arenas. Believe me, I’m not about getting as high as possible most times, not that that would be so far. I haven’t the time or physical stamina, alas. I run it for currency and the chance for a book drop (one I don’t have if Herma Mora really grants his favor) or Apocryphal furnishing plan.

The problem isn't that anyone is taking it, it's that it's popping up over and over again and wasting a vision slot from you instead of offering you something decent. Not picking it doesn't stop this from happening, it only makes it more likely that you get offered to take it again.

There's already too much RNG with the vision system, and having these blank tickets only makes it worse.

The experience boost is also quite minimal. Even if you want to level up companions or skills, you'd achieve nearly the same gains by taking something that buffs your damage.

the lich avatar looks fun, like just that ability is something i wish actual necromancer class had lol

the new verses shown so far seem to be alright, they sound fun to use, especially throwing shrinky potions on the enemies kind of like dreadsail trial lol

some of the new visions seem OK, i mean -1 sec potion cooldown is ok, adaptive defender sounds pretty good, adaptive conquerer seems kind of just bad, increasing cost of ultimates entirely negating the other bonus for reduced ultimate cost, prickly retort and storm projection both seem really nice to have

i also dont agree that FE should be nerfed, and other visions should be buffed to similar values, the verses are fun because they can be crazy, but most of the visions feel lackluster outside of a few valuable ones (set visions, FE, attuned enchantments)
