Came out blurry but it says
(5 items) When you cast a Shadow ability, you gain Umbral Riposte for 3 seconds, up to once every 5 seconds. Umbral Riposte causes you to dodge the next attack made against you and automatically curses the attacking enemy, applying Major Vulnerability for 5 seconds increasing their damage taken by 10%

Can't wait for the youtube class of gamers to inform us of how good it is with rallying cry, balorgh/blind, and the sea serpent coil/markyn/ddf.

The visual aura for this set doesn't activate for my character when I equip 5/5 pieces. Some of the new class sets seem to have it added, but Nightblade at least is missing it.

Oh good grief. NB's are already the strongest class in game. They didn't need another way to buff themselves.

Is this counterable with direct AoE? If not, delete this miserable garbage at once.

The strongest class in PvP is the Sorcerer.
Nightblade feels like garbage when using Sorcerer.

So wait, does this mean if they cloak (shadow ability) which already dodges a direct damage attack, they'll also get another dodge and inflict major vulerability to you?

Mjeh. There are certain builds that may 100-0 you. I don't know what they are, but I imagine they involve vampire, Balorgh, and obviously Tarnished Nightmare or Rush of Agony. If you get ganged up upon by two or more such players, that's an Xv1 at the end of the day. You likely die. In a 1v1 you just need to build to survive the initial gank. At least for soloing in IC you do. In Cyro it happens far less.

I'm not saying that is easy. I think it contributes to the tank meta. Then again, there are ways to counter gankers hard, such as:
    • The Esoteric Environment Greaves.
    • High health / resistances / shielding.
    • Constant movement or blocking (on a flag).
    • Being a cloaking nightblade yourself.
    • Zoal + Slippery CP.
    • Sea Serpent's Coil.
    • Being a vampire, stage 3.
    • Constantly popping Camou Hunter or Magelight when you're questing in IC. It won't really stop gankers, but it seems to discourage many.
I'm not a top player, but I have a friend who arguably is, e.g. he is a successful dueller and 1vXer. He doesn't think nightblades are currently competitive when he's fighting equally skilled players. I pressed him on that and he conceded that they are excellent against beginner to mid-level players. I am saying this as a 9 year veteran of the game. I PvP on multiple classes, but don't consider myself at the same level as him.

Point is, and please don't take it the wrong way, but if you think NBs are the strongest class in the game for PvP, that most likely makes you the same as me. An upper mid-level player at best. You may, of course, correct me on that, or if you think this doesn't matter. At any rate, I think nightblades may be described as annoying, opportunistic, nasty, cowardly, whatever label you want to put on them. Also a great solo class, but not the strongest in every way. I'm not even sure how easy to use they are as a ganker. If you get successfully ganked, you possibly only remember a highlight of that nightblade's evening. You weren't there when they built Balorgh up to 500. You weren't there when they failed. For me personally, playing a nightblade that way has always seemed pretty miserable.

Magsorc, on the other hand, is currently brutally effective and allows you to stay in the action. It is a good solo class and one that even I can 1vX with in some cases. It only doesn't have nightblade's ability to completely disengage. It's also their worst nightmare. A good sorc counters nightblade hard.

I would say a successful cloak means you can't even target them and, therefore, you can't fire your single target skill. Whereas if it's an AOE skill, it's undodgeable and will hit them. If you fire a slow projectile at an about to cloak nightblade, that will also hit them and knock them back out of cloak.

I would say none of these cases are a dodge. At least not if ZOS have tidied this up properly. I think they mentioned something about attacks "missing". This certainly happened in the past, e.g. when Cloak suppressed DOTs and you had combat text on, it would say "miss", "miss", "miss" where the nightblade was. However I'm not sure whether that was classed as a dodge. I have to assume the set refers to actual dodge rolling. Got to be tested, of course.

As a day 1 mnb, this is pretty accurate. If you can live through the initial burst I’m typically trying to reset, get some distance / resources back before trying to open again. Good players will stick to you like a msorc, or DK stacking dots will chase and harass you. Have to be slippery with immovable / cloaks to get out against good players. If you can survive that initial opener, best advice is continue to apply pressure and keep them on their heels.

Cloak is unreliable as the Set buff itself only last 3 seconds. Cloak also last 3 seconds. A lot of missed opportunity.

I will say, the potential this set has, is kind of insane. I've already made a build that feels way to strong currently, for a dueling build that is. At first, it took some time to get used too, but after I got it down, it was nasty.

I'm still testing the functionality of the set itself. It is possible to have a decent uptime, never 100% but the maximum being around 90% uptime.

As for PvE, I've came to the conclusion that I don't think its better than turning tide. But, it definitely looks cool. The proc animation fits Nightblade so beautifully.

Overall, the set is a Major W for dueling, and another option for tanks in pve. Not sure for Openworld PvP tho.

I would love to see how this set pairs in Outnumbered situations. Kinda hard to test that in PTS.

Yes and no. It is a nice idea, badly implemented. Applying it depends on mobs, not on you, Even if perfect, you can not get 100% uptime, and so it will be highly fight situational. There should be a longer duration to counter this, or a different way of activating the set, with a % uptime zos is happy with.
