Sorc Twilight pet needs changed due to field of view issues

I am starting another thread on this, as my last two have been closed for being too old. I believe this issue is something that needs to get brought up until it is fixed, or at the very least until we get official word on a fix being worked on. My first thread was closed in 2021, the second in 2023. It has been a multi-year crusade trying to get this worked on.

This is a request to change the Twilight sorc pet so that it no longer flaps its wings directly into the default camera position space. Suggestions were made on solutions, such as switching the shoulder the Twilight flies over, adjusting the height and/or closeness the Twilight follows the player at, changing the creature type entirely (or at least giving us the option to change the creature type), changing the creature's size, and a few other suggestions. Try playing with the Twilight with your camera at close or mid range, you will immediately see wings flapping in your face as you move around.

Basically, if you are sick of the Twilight wings flapping in your face and agree it is a problem, feel free to discuss and/or come up with solutions. Thanks.

You've already summed up the options. It should be either
    - smaller; or
    - moved away from the player character a bit.

The latter option might be problematic, though, because the twilight's attacks have a maximum range, and moving the twilight further from the player may affect the usefulness of its attacks. So that leaves the shrinking option.

Another option is to somehow get rid of the flapping, but that means changing the look of the twilight significantly, so would probably never be done.

ZOS' absolute refusal to do anything about the twilight problem (not just how it affects the player using it, but also other players) is one of the reasons I've been taking more and longer breaks from ESO over the last few years. I've had a gutful of the flapping twilights, and the overdone sound/light effects, it's ruining my enjoyment of the game.

I've played a petsorc for years, and I love my Matriarch, but I agree they should tweak the design a little. 30% smaller, lower positioning, and a more translucent design comes to mind.

And I've said this before: option to toggle off pet visibility completely in towns, not just near crafting stations.

"Besides the color change, will the styling feature have other visual changes players can add in the future?'

'Maybe. At launch it's color, but part of the reason we built the system the way we did was so that we can expand it to things like that. A lot of questions we get from players are, I'm a Warden and I've had the same bear forever. Can we get different pets? Sorcerers are like, hey, that Winged Twilight is getting old. I would love to see something else.

That's the idea behind the system. When we do that, if we do that, is unknown right now, but we've built the styling system to incorporate all of that feedback.' "

It might be a GFX card issue, but for me, the design is way dated, ugly graphics. Even 10 years ago, it was on the level of being designed 10 years ago when the game launched.

On a sidenote, please also fix companion position or companion interaction. It is a stupid design choice to have the interaction *and* looting on the "E", so I always have to wait until the companion is out of reach after a fight.

I would like it if it landed in towns and near quest givers so it wasn't flapping continually in my face. It's even worse when there's lots of them together.

I wish they made it a rule to care about what we cared about.

I absolutely hate the things! I sometimes play healer and a few of these monstrosities in a trial block my field of view to the point where I simply spam out heals blindly and hope they hit some of my team mates!

For years, people have been asking for a toggle on/off feature for these and ZOS had blatantly just ignored us. Make it smaller, make it land, stop the constant flapping. Their solution: a small radius to hide them at crafting stations that DOES. NOT. WORK.

I hate them with a passion. I refuse to make pet builds with sorcerers because I hate them, They get in my way whether my own or someone else's!

The bigger problem for me is that they seem to need line of sight for the healing. The issue occured to me in several vet dungeons lately.

And yes, they can be annoying visually. Landing would cause more problems, because they would die from taking aoe dmg. While it would be nice if pets and companions would be fully excluded from any aoe dmg taken, given their frustratingly stupid AI. Needs a fix.
Apart from that, they could be a little smaller and maybe translucent following the style of bound weapons. But that's just a band aid, it doesn't really solve the problem. They could have a much larger range and stay far away from the combat zone, which then would make the pvp-babies cry and might cause bosses to reset, so no solution either.

It should have been a fire atronach as it was in Oblivion, the summoned familiar you could have there. I assumed that was what sorcs got by morphing the twilight-
boy was i disappointed. Put it away and took off the skill points.

Then it would have been neat and small and it could float like the ones do in eso. The Oblivion ones ran. I loved mine.

Or I guess they could have made it a storm atronach so it is sparky like sorcs are.

    Make it smaller.

Make it stand on the ground with it's wings folded out of combat.

Make it fly higher when in combat.

Have a toggle so we can hide all player pets and spell effects, (with the option of leaving ground aoe's in place for buffs/heals etc.).

I stopped using the Twilight months ago over these same issue and instead use the healing morph of the Clanfear instead (especially as its damage is low enough to not miss it).

I feel like it needs to be transformed into a grounded creature. Something like the Scamp. The wings just cause too many problems no matter how you try to fit it in.

    That's why I'd prefer a toggle on/off - that way it doesn't affect any player's pets.

It's extremely oversized. It would be great if it was the size of a Nixad, butterfly, or bug.

It isn't just the Twilight pet that is a problem. All NPCs that follow the player are too close and constantly end up in-between something I want to use or open. I'm tired of having to reposition multiple times to loot a corpse of loot a treasure chest as you never know where the NPCs will decide to move to in relation to your character. To me increasing the distance between the player and followers should be pretty straight forward and fix the problem for all players not just Pet Sorcs.

I agree, I play sorc and sometimes my twilight is extremely annoying.

With the 'move it so it isn't always in the player's face' they could do it one of two ways.

    1. is to just *slightly* move it so the wing is behind the player's head. Doesn't have to be a lot, just enough.
    2. OR, they could move it so the twilight hovers above the player entirely.

I have been playing Ark Survival Evolved (which has the same problem with flyers) and one thing I love in it is that it has options to tell the pets how far away to stay. Doesn't always work, but you basically have like 4 options (near, medium, high, highest). Something like that would be great, not just for the twilight but any followers.

I took this yesterday after maintenance. There's about 10 sorc pets in the shot.

I'm starting to be of the opinion that pets, once cast, should just auto-summon on entering combat and un-summon when combat finishes.

I have 2 Sorcerers and neither use that pet.

I have two and likewise. One uses the scamp, the other is a different petless build. I really dislike all the flapping pets - this goes for the non-combat ones too. The raven that came with Gold Road was a disappointment as it constantly flaps. I was kind of hoping for it to settle on my shoulder like a real one would! Sadly, it was consigned to the collection to be forgotten because I hate seeing so much flapping. It's too much movement and can interfere when in combat when my eyes are keyed to anything moving when I'm fighting.

It would be nice if it would perch or if summons could somehow turn invisible or desummon in cities until entering combat. The latter is probably not possible, but it always seemed weird to me to run around town with Daedric minions when most of Tamriel condemns such.

I’m not in favor of the Twilight flying further from the player while in town, because it’s hugely annoying to everyone so shouldn’t be made less annoying to the one person with the option to actually do something about it!
