The "Special Furnishings" (VFX) category and the "Special Collectibles" (NPCs) category are long overdue to both be doubled from 5 to 10 (default) and 10 to 20 (ESO+), especially with the upcoming new companions in the Q4 2024 Update.
With 8 companions as well as a banker and a merchant, that maxes out the current 10 "Special Collectibles" category limit.
If ZOS keeps adding more companions, then there will not be enough "furniture-space" for all of them in any player's home.
Don't forget about the dozens of unusable mounts and pets, too. There is no space for everything; but, 10 is way too limiting.
If ZOS can't increase the overall furniture-limit due to "performance issues", then the least that they could do is double the "Special Furnishings" (VFX) category and the "Special Collectibles" (NPCs) category from 5 to 10 (default) and 10 to 20 (ESO+).

I would expect that these type furnishings are exactly what is impacting performance, though.

VFX furnishings are relatively new and severely lag behind in time of the overall furniture-limit.
Even then, 5 extra NPCs aren't going to kill performance. 50-100 beds, dressers, (etc.) might.

Lighted furnishings are more taxing performance-wise.

Which is why my primary point was to increase the the "Special Collectibles" (NPCs) category:
8 companions + 1 banker + 1 merchant = 10 "Special Collectibles" (NPCs). There would be no room for mounts or pets.
I merely mentioned the "Special Furnishings" (VFX) category along with NPCs because they are both equal in value, atm.

Hopefully mannequins where you go up to them with a character then put an outfit on them. Or weapon plaques with the same deal picking a weapon type and motif.

Well, IMHO, that was the most disappointing ESO Live to date. Very sad.
