Healers not getting Loot or exp

I have no problem with the open world mechanics either we're only talking about quite often not being able to get loot or get exp in dungeons.
An effective healer is a supposed to keep everyone first and foremost alive, we should not have to switch to dps in order to gain exp or loot. If I switch to dps, then members of the group I am with, can and often do die. I can't do both roles effectively. I cannot keep an eye on every member of my group, monitoring their health whilst I'm attacking a boss as well O_o!

I have only dealt with inexperienced groups who take very heavy damage, so I am constantly healing and propping them up not just standing there. If I want to loot in my experience I find I have to dps ...there may as well be no healer and people potion themselves instead! No one wants to take on the role of tank nor healer in ESO and I understand why! As mentioned above, what if a dps HAD to heal to gain exp or HAD to tank to get exp would anyone consider this fair?

Also Jimredtalon The game actively encourages you to select a role in dungeons and devs said there would be no penalties in choosing a healer class, as mentioned above they stated you could play how you want =). This isn't true, this is why people are stating their grievances because there are penalties in the form of sometimes no loot or exp.

I've heard that if you are grouped with/healing people outside of 4 levels of yourself you will not get exp/loot. Could this be part of the problem that healers are experiencing especially in world boss situations where higher level players are coming back to complete lower level bosses for achievements/rep?

I find this most noticeable in PVP. Like someone previously said, I don't get any credit for anything unless I'm in a party. Even if I'm healing my butt off. Kind of a pain...even when I get into parties they're spread all over the place. I'd kind of like to just go where I go and heal people in the fights where I find them instead of having to worry about how 2 group members went north and 3 went south and now I'm stuck east and there's 20 people fighting here but, hey, I healed and got no kill credit.

    Ok thanks for some clarification
    ITS STILL A BAD MECHANIC
were a in a dungeon together grouped ffs

To address some people with constructive criticism and ignoring people that say play it as is (LMFAO you want more people to play a healing class so you a can do dungeons don't you?)
    -Not outside of 4 levels
-Healing large amounts--->were in a dungeon people are taking lots of damage
    -Not more than 1 healer

This should be on the top of the list of fixes. Not only healers, but everyone is getting real low exp. If they want to keep players, fix the problems that we would encounter most in things we find should be finding enjoyable. As it stands, I have done all of the dungeons up to my level and I can personally say that I have no desire to return to them. If the plan was for them to be a one shot deal, then grats, you've accomplished that, but I am pretty sure that wasn't the intention. The design and difficulty of dungeons I find are perfect, but with the time/difficulty of them, the reward is disappointing.

I am a healer as well and I am worried about this issue. Yesterday, I did all three level 35 dungeons and only received a total of two blues whereas a friend of mine who plays a damage dealer received two epics (and various blues). This may just be a coincidence, however, I am worried that it is part of how the system works.

Lots of encounter in ESO are very magica-intensive and, as a healer, I usually conserve my magica to ensure that I have enough of it for when the boss encounter becomes more tricky. I still use the healing staff to do some damage when there is nothing to do (and the tank has a healing buff up) but maintaining enough magica to keeping everyone alive has priority. However, I started thinking whether this safety-first attitude might have an effect on the loot I get. If this was the case, ESO would force healers into playing a specific role instead of allowing everyone to decide the play-style according to his preferences.

I would love to have some devs comment on the details of loot distribution in ESO.

Its just bad game design....no way to say it more gentle.
This was intended and uncalled for...
i realy hope Zenimax do change some of their vieuws on how the games operates.
So far i am having a blast, our whole guild is having a blast :)
But there are also many things that makes no sense and those things are starting to get realy anoying sadly :(

As a healer myself often get no credit for healing people up, even tough i am the only healer keeping people going.
No exp no loot...nothing....and i play healer for the better part of a decade...
Not that healing is hard in this mmo anyway as its mostly AoE.

I realy hope zenimax is aware that alot of parts of this mmo are in need of dire attention....
Nobody is waiting for mmo number 09183091 that falls flat on their face by poor game decisions / design.
Well maybe the haters on mmorpg / massivly :pensive:

I can't believe this is still an issue - many groups want my templar full healer in vet dungeons - I also get told specifically not to hit anything - with restoration staff equipped and no hitting - i get no loot above white. It makes being a full time healer a thankless and rewardless task - why else do you do dungeons if not to get greater loot than normal?
    - It worrries me that this thread has been going on for a month with no word from anyone or anything done about it - healers, like tanks and DDs are a necessary mechanic to the MMO Dungeon format. What if everyone just stopped because there was no reward. Dungeons and high end areas die a death - Eu mega server it always takes ages to get a tank - today was my last dungeon as a healer as I left the third dungeon of the day without anything worthwhile - while my counterparts left with at least one purple per dungeon.
    - If more feel the same as me that healing is not a viable end content pastime - everyone on this thread saying - its cool for me - will be very overworked.
    - Best of luck.

I'm not sure if anyone already posted this because I don't feel like taking time to read all of the posts, but I think you only get loot and experience from single target healing spells. Area healing spells don't give you anything. Single target spells are any ones that show a range, but not a radius in the description. The ones that I use are ward and regeneration, both for the restoration staff. If you are using templar abilities, only rushed ceremony will grant you exp and loot.

got screwed out of alot of credit in pvp for taking keeps and resources as well as pve dungeons and landscape activities like anchors. I do resort to using dps in order to 'tag' the mob at least now so I can get some loot and credit.

tired of this shite frankly, and no.. jimredtalon... we are NOT doing it wrong you idiot, we are keeping you alive by being a flipping healer.

the problem i think is if there is not enough healing going on, if there are several healers or if the group are healing themselves then you dont get the credit, it should take into acct the amt of healing done regardless if it is overhealing or not. Or why else would they have a healer class at all and just go full dps?

sure I can dps pretty darn good as templar, but if i burn magick doing that then I am short come time for healing then you listen to all the whining about bad healers.

I am currently VR2 Templar healer and have never once had this issue. Loot and xp are always there for me. Sometimes I do not get anything I personally would use, but I can pass it on to a teammate. Not sure what you folks are doing, or not doing, but it sounds like a bug to me.
  • kanebrewerb16_ESO
Ive had this issue only low lvl 18 resto templar. Healed like a trooper my way through dungeons (constant HoT's, armor buff, dropping insta heals where req'd). If I hadnt, the group would have wiped several times over. Lest to say once in blue moon I might find a blue from the boss. I get maybe 1 green from a dungeon, everything else is just whites and soul shards.

I mean, is it to much to ask to expect atleast a handful of greens and a 50% chance to get a blue from a dungeon?

One thing is right, if you use some dot/buff and the healed player dont loss any live/get hit, the healer dont receive any reward.

If your not getting loot, xp, sp, or gold your doing it wrong. I am sorry to inform you that this is not WOW, LOTRO, or SWTOR. It is TESO this mean that yes it does have some of the usual rules and play sets of most MMO's it is still a game all of its own and has a different way to play so try and learn how to play the way the game was made, and stop trying to make the devs get the game to play the way you want.

YES ! im not alone in my view, we should group togheter and wipe the floor with dungeons and laugh with people moaning its to hard.

In group dungeons the healer gets *** loot. its a joke to be honest since we are the ones keeping everyone alive through the battles.
