I'm going to opine that the change is because of the cadence (the slooooowwwwness of Mora's statements in Skyrim/Dragonborn - and I haven't put either Skyrim or Oblivion on my new machine yet so can't really double check) - and the devs were probably pretty sure no one would wait for that in this game....

That may well be. Kids today with their TikToks don't have any patience for the elderly speaking.*

*I don't have patience for listening to dialogue most of the time either. It's me, the kids today with their TikToks.

I do but they just go on and on.....I mean really on and on and on and on..... like nooone has spoken to them in weeks...

Well.... I can (at 76) be considered "elderly" but I still speak at a pretty fast rate (as I always have) with a lot of hand gestures, and I still read 1500 words a minute: in other words, many books don't last long enough to be worth what I paid for them - and Amazon's Kindle store gets a LOT of money from me - as well as reading the quest dialogue so fast I get fairly frustrated with some of the NPCs....

Hmmm well speed isn't as important as understanding and absorbing, really is it? I look to be changed, by the books I read, not just to plough through them at pace like fast food.

It's not the speed of delivery of npc it's simply so much they want to tell me. I just don't want to know, really. I have an add on to turn off the text as much as I can, as it can. I like to listen to them. But brevity is the soul of wit. Pithy, witty, brevity, not a monologue moment in the stagelights, every time!

Oh so true. I very frequently (well, especially in the scribing questline) stop to reread - sometimes several times - the dialogues. Especially in this instance with Ulfsild and the Luminaries....

I remember back to the Mages' Guild questline, watching the "vignette videos" and wondering whatever had happened to Ulfsild. I really don't like Sheo, so his whole shtick was "ack, get it over with already!" - but Ulfsild has stuck with me for 7 years!

And now I know at least some of "what happened". So, thank you devs for giving me some closure on a perhaps "minor" to you person (and maybe to many others) but for me an individual I really wanted to find and interact with again! It's not often in an MMO that such a "minor" (in some eyes, or in an overall world view) wish comes true....

I'm not sure I'd call him "antagonistic" in the 4th Era (maybe there's nuances to the things he says that I'm not recalling, it's been a hot minute)

He murders the old Skaal fellow who gave him the information he was after (in exchange for part of the Bend Will Shout, IIRC).

I do kind of like that it puts a different perspective on Shalidor throwing all his time at trying to get Eyevea back. He was at least in part trying to get the Scholarium back for his wife…

Well, that's of course the kindest interpretation. And I'm good with it.

Though.... considering his blunt arrogance.... well. I'll just leave it at that.

This is me, honestly. I don't thrive on talking to most people, it's a lot of sound and information at once that, frankly, I don't care about. Sure, I have family and friends, and even the occasional passing conversation can be pleasant, but I'd usually rather be left alone! I don't enjoy playing "listen to this person ramble simulator."

@TaSheen , I'm sure your rambling is a delight, though. No disrespect. I'd love to sit down, have a cup of tea and listen to your extended thoughts about horses sometime.

I really enjoy the FromSoftware style of dialogue. Short, cryptic. Actually makes me want to know more, but then the NPC has walked off and died somewhere. Really looking forward to that Elden Ring DLC. 😁

Oh, sure, yeah! There was that guy. But. . . .

Okay, I concede I've been painted into a corner. I better admit defeat before the rest of the Skaal come after me. I've been bested!

Eh, in conversation I tend to stick to the subject - until someone also involved interjects a new hare to follow down a rabbit hole.... I don't actively seek out conversations myself though - truthfully, I'd rather sit here at home in the silence and play my game. I've never been into "get together in a corner with the girls and chat" - I'm FAR more likely to gravitate to the guys in the room to talk about horses, dogs, hunting, cars and trucks etc!

I doubt I've ever played a game from that developer, and while short/cryptic works for me with some sorts of convos, for a game like these in the TES series (including ESO) the "wordiness" (of both NPCs and books) to me is perfect for the genre. Things were "briefer and more to the point" in Arena and Daggerfall but now it's a somewhat wordier scale (and yes - as with me and Sheo - there ARE times I just want to reach through the internet and slap the NPC....)

Then again.... one of my first epic fantasy series was Lord of the Rings - which I first ran across as a freshman in high school, have reread every year since, and sometimes more often than that.... Latterly, there's Harry Potter too. When I write, that's how I write - a large sufficiency of words that usually has to get pared down (because people don't really appreciate Tolkien's style of high fantasy as much now, but that's what I've always written.)

I am kinda disappointed to find that all the old Mora quests have replaced the previous voice actor in favor of the new one. I liked his voice, it sounded like that of an ancient all-knowing being, but he did talk very slow. Maybe that is why he was replaced.

They probably made the replacement for consistency's sake. It's possible that the former VA wasn't available for the new content, so they re-did the older Mora content with the new VA so the character sounds the same all through the game.

Yes, I am sure that consistency is what they desired, whatever the reason.

I hate to say anything bad about a voice actor, but the new Mora’s voice is so sing-song up and down that it is jarringly distractive for me. I guess it seems too emotional for a Daedric prince, especially one who has been portrayed as detached and unemotional in every ESO encounter before. I suppose the stakes are high for him now and maybe he is desperate and that would explain it. I was just hoping to see the old Mora in the old quests again.

    EDIT: typo as usual

Somewhere there's a post which states the current Mora VA is the same as the one from Dragonborn....
