Very very disappointed with the grind needed with gold road

1) ink, tons of play time I have seen 6 ink drop, never from mobs. And we need 500 for black skill ?
2) mirror shard silk or whatever is called, seen 2 and done at least 20 mirror events. And this has 3 colorings hiding behind it.

I'm simply not doing it. I'm not paying gold sellers for ink. I'll put game on hold for a few months until they change it.

The 20 mosaic skill shards will come along in under a month without buying any, and you only need to do it once for your whole account.

500 ink is a long grind, and I hope they improve the droprate so scribing is more fun. If they only wind up being like 3k per ink, that'd be great.

its varied a bit more from me

there was at least 1 day ive gotten 2 mosaic shards from 1 mirrormoor incursion (not sure if that was a fluke or intentional as its only happened once out of the past 4 days)

    100%.

Many of us are highly invested in this game. They know we will get FOMO even if the content is lame. We will grind it out because we feel obligated.

That’ll change soon with the insane grinding they’ve foisted upon us in the last year. It’s not fun anymore. All grind tasks with very little new or entertaining content.

they are a consumable to increment an achievement, which has 3 tiers, each tier unlocks a different skill style

It's an obsolete game model. We're not 20yo basement no lifers anymore, we're adults with jobs and families. We're not compulsive skinner box monkeys, we want to enjoy moment to moment gaming. If you disrespect our time like this, we'll cut our engagement and spending, or simply leave altogether.

Being more on the hardcore PvP end, I've been slogged through the Script grind a few hours a day. It's a godawful boring gaming experience, not worth $40. If the Scribing system was immediately available, I would've instead spent every minute of free time on ESO and bought clowns. So it actually made me play and spend less (and kinda hate this game).

There is no need to cater to the no life grind crowd, their concept of "earning" content is just as obsolete and irrelevant. There is no merit proven, no product made, no service provided, just wasting your time alone in an MMO doing chores for robots. When you work to earn $40, that $40 should buy you the content you paid for, not a bunch of asinine time gates and inane daily chores that are mostly loading screens and wet toilet paper overworld mobs.

A kind reminder that it took 5 months to just cut a half the insane requirements. 5 years to make it acceptable.

As far as I know, you just need 50, not 500. I’ve heard rumblings that they’re increasing the drop rate of the ink with next week’s patch but I could be totally wrong on that. I made the mistake of buying some and realized the achievement is tied to earning them via loot drops, so don’t purchase any to bypass this lol. Big oof.

The mosaic skill shards are only dropping once per day. You can also purchase some of these if you don’t have the patience to wait 30 days (I believe that’s the achievement). They WERE selling for quite a bit early on, but seem to have died down a bit in pricing on PC-Na

That is what I also see in game and on ESO info websites. 50 for Ink Accumulator and Force Shock, Onyx Black. Is there another achievement and another black skill recoloring?

Its very hard to please every one:

    - Some players want everything grindable within 3 days
    - Some players want a long term goal and a reason so play eso until the next dlc

So to be honest it was pretty balanced this dlc:

    1. Open dungeons drops, scribing skill farming and skill colours are very easy grindable within some days
    2. Ink has a low droprate, so the skill crafting is meant to be a long term goal and needs effort

So you guys dont need to moan as soon as you dont get what you like after 1 week of playing the new dlc.

Except that the forum grinders want to force their playstyle on everyone. Whatever happened to playing how you like? Successful F2P games like Warframe allow the grinders to grind, while adults with responsibilities can pay to skip the grind. Everyone is happy. Meanwhile, ZOS is obligating us to spend hours and hours "earning" something we already spent $40 on. Wasting time alone in an MMO doing chores for bots, a gross insult to a customer's time and money.

content wise, i finished everything from the new chapter except for 1 lead for the new music box (that is refusing to drop from the west weald daily coffers lol)

in that 1 week of clearing content, i got 0 ink through what i would consider normal gameplay

you literally have to dedicate hours to grinding material nodes just to get any ink, right now its actually faster to just redo the scribing questline for 12 free ink than it is spending that same time harvesting

learning the scripts and whatnot, even per character? you know what im fine with that

having a painfully low drop rate on ink to make the entire system unusable is a completely different matter

I mainly PvP, but I do enjoy PvE content now and then. I think I may take the same route I did with Oakensoul ring. I waited until after they nerfed it & chapter went to ESO+ to try it out, because I didn't want to spend my time and money on that toxic strongbox grind. (I also didn't want to "crutch" on it) Why work so hard and spend so much time when I know the release -> nerf pattern so well? I've been playing another game mostly. I can't stop comparing it to ESO despite the apples/oranges etc. I see suggestions on reddit go into the game, responses from devs as to why other ideas will or can't be used. The grind is there, but you can go heavy or light and still enjoy it. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but the excitement I used to get from ESO is present there.
I'm on console, and what I'm getting is that I'm better off waiting for this to blow over and balance out. I'll still check in, but ESO won't be my #1 again until the dust settles. It's no longer worth it. Sometimes the forum gives you clarity lol. Thanks PC people!

TLDR: GRIND horror stamped out FOMO.

You got 6 ink? That's 6 more than I. I only gathered ink as quest rewards, nothing else. The drop ratio is ridiculous.

I agree with this comment, and it's really insightful. Ever since the Q4 changes, we have less content, ,more grind and somehow even more bugs. I'm really disappointed at ZOS that instead of having ESO as their crown jewel and investing in it as much as possible, the game seems as if it's in almost maintenance mode.

I actually belive zos did decrease it for this chapter. At least the leads are way easyer compared to talvanni peninsula. Scribing farm is not that heavy too even tough i wish for more ink to freely try tings out.

The real problem is the trial being really hard to pug. Still easyer than dreadsail reef.

I gave up before even finishing the quest line, it was not obvious what to do at one point, and running around clicking things 10000x is not interesting.

Scribing does sound cool and it would be fun to play with and be able to optimize and test, but the road to get there is absolutely horrible and the end game of managing new skills and multiple characters sounds like pure hell.

    Dismal game design.

If insane grind is the new answer for less content -- then I'm definitely quitting, WoW looks like the better game now than when I left it 4 years ago, too bad the general direction of ESO is so bad, I should have taken a hint years ago when they normalized weaving (formally an engine bug) resulting in a combat that feels like ass, but weaving is sadly not the only culprit. Then we wait for years for something new like new class abilities etc. and what we get is scribing. So crazy.
