scribing should not be so unfriendly to alts

I just think it sucks. I think its really disrespectful to players time. You wanted feedback, people gave it, and you still made it bad. Idk how you guys always manage to miss the mark so badly. If someone plays one of every class regularly, like i do, and i want to use this system on every class, i have to do a ton of grinding. A lot of it is also RNG. And the ink drop rate is a problem as well, but thats another topic.

I wont be surprised if we see something in the crown store in the future to make this less of a grind, which again is so disrespectful. There is absolutely no reason you guys shouldn't have made 90% of the scripts account wide. For example, even going through the entire questline one time, then farming all of the scripts on one character, then going through each character to do the intro quest, and then going to buy the scrips you wanted, would still be a very large time investment. Making us farm scripts on every alt is just pointless, redundant, annoying, boring, disrespectful, out of touch, and silly.

The way i see it, on an alt, you would probably just go for specific scripts for skills you have looked at and want to use on an alt. But then there is rng involved. And you also cant test things on different classes, that play somewhat differently. Im not opposed to grinding, ive played a lot of bdo and other mmos where ive spent thousands of hours grinding. I just dont agree with pointless time wasting grinds that serve no purpose and are easily remedied.

So ya idk what else to say. It just really sucks for people who play every class. My suggestion would be simple, just let people buy them on alts from the merchant. gg

I have not a full grasp of what it takes for making the best use of scribing per alt.

My impression after having opened 3 of the 5 gates in the schola is that I actually like this part quite well. It is a sort of grind, yes, but overall the entire story around is really well written, quite light-hearted which I enjoy, and even a tiny bit of philosophical.

From what I have seen at the trader and read here and there grimoires are pretty expensive. I guess I will carefully study them and the possibilities and buy only what I really consider worthwhile per character. I think I will definitely not attempt to unlock everything for every toon I have.

The only complaint that I have at the moment is that given all the huge amount of possibilities it looks difficult to test things out without a considerable investment of gold and rare mats. Since I have difficulties to evaluate from the tooltip description the value of a skill in combination with my skill setup or with some modifications to my skill setup already with the existing skills all this is a sort of pushback for me. I am quite afraid to waste these expensive ingredients on a scripted skill that prooves to be a poor.

I think the quest was fine but thats not really the point. Im someone who just wants to get through quests and grinds to actually use the skills to play the damn game. But as far as the quest goes, ya it was pretty good.

And yes, the ink drop rates are actual dog water. So is the RNG of script drops. So is the fact that they nerfed farming these scripts, so its only a 25% drop chance (ive heard) after your first guaranteed drop per day, off each specific daily. The fact that this system isnt account wide is brainless, but them nerfing our ability to farm scripts is so stupid that i actually dont know how to describe it without getting actioned so ill just say its really, really, stupid.

Zos has lost the plot. Maybe you disagree, but i think many will agree with this. They dont know how to handle RNG, and they dont know how to create rewarding gameplay. Who wants to grind for RNG drops to use skills to actually play the game? And also be punished for grinding the ridiculous amount of scripts too quickly? And then also be punished by spending the ink that has an exceptionally low drop chance? This is the furthest thing from rewarding gameplay. We want to be able to get the skills and use the skills, test builds, try things out. We dont want to be punished for playing multiple characters, and wanting to try new skills.

The fact that the OP got 19 agrees for saying 95% wrong things tells how people have no clue about how things are and that people just believe the first post of a thread, without checking if that info is true or not.

95% of what OP says is completely wrong and it's, in fact, just the opposite of what he/she says.

I agree, I mean why make class scripts obtainable via the vendor to instant unlock for alts, just do the same for the focus, signature and affix.

    You really enjoy a system that's character-specific?

You think a system that is completely RNG on getting specific scripts you want is good?

When you don't have any scripts learned, that's fine - great - the drops are curated, but once you have all of them learned, every single script that drops for you is randomized. It could take DAYS to get something you want. You are at the mercy of RNG and you're also screwed over if the Chronicler or Archive vendor doesn't have what you want.

I'm a prime example of why this system is so bad. I have 3 tanks that I want Pull script on. It's been 5 days, I have only seen Pull drop ONCE, and that was on my main, curated. So here I am just diddling around waiting for it drop, having 3 chances a day for it. And yes I know you can repeat the activity for a 25% drop rate, but that doesn't matter if the drop is not even the script.

    Such a *** system.

A lot of things in this game are blatanly disrespectful to our time. The companions having to be unlocked on every alt despite being in our collections is one of them.

Yes, when farming, I prefer RNG to getting the things exactly how I want, where I want, and when I want.

Except it's not. With a little proper planning you can farm specific scripts by self-curating. Want that pull on multiple tanks? Make sure it's the only one that drops on your farmer until your alts get it. There are ways to game the system, but if you brute force it and pray to RNGesus then of course you're going to hate it.

its 22 agrees now. But since so much of what i said is wrong im sure you can set me straight.

Lets see here. So there are 50 or so scripts that drop from the daily quests/rewards of the worthy. Once i learn one on my main, am i able to unlock it on my alts? Either automatically or by getting it from a vendor? Yes or no.

And are the 50 or so scripts that drop from the dailies/rewards not RNG based? Meaning, if i want the sorcery/brutality script on my main and 3 alts i would need to farm a specific daily for it until it decides to drop, with no guarantee that the script i want will drop instead of ones that i dont want. Is that right or wrong?

is it not going to be a large time investment to get the 50 or so scripts that drop from dallies/rewards?

Is the drop rate of ink not terrible? Especially considering its just something used to allow us to craft and use skills. Skills that we want to use to simply play the game.

And is it not likely that zenimax will add something into the crown store to make this process easier, considering they have added something into the crown store to make every other similar grind easier? Psijic, undaunted, skyshards, mages guild, whatever.

Ill be waiting for your response, although i doubt it will come. Instead of just saying 95% of what i said is wrong, why wouldnt you give new information in a constructive way if you have it? I would love to be wrong. I would love for the system to be alt friendly. Unfortunately after days of doing this, i just dont believe it is.

oh i see whats going on here now. I missed this post before i replied. You're against account wide achievements. Now this all makes sense. This isnt even in the same realm as awa, but its still unnecessary wasted time for no reason. If you've done it once theres no reason to do it again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again. All just to be able to play the content in the game and use new skills. lol.

I know some of you like that, but you're in the extreme minority of the player base. Unfortunately there is no point in arguing this with you. You're outlook on things is unreasonable. You play how you want. Thank god for account wide achievements

Its just not as easy as you're making it out to be. Yes you can do this, but if you did learn every other script, for that type, except for pull, what happens when you want another script? Then youd have to start doing it on another character to curate that script. Because your main already learned everything except pull. And ya you can do this with every script type, so it deff speeds up the process, but it doesnt justify the silly system.

This is a good piece of advice for people to do with popular scripts that will be good across multiple classes, and something I have been doing, however it changes nothing of the point of this thread. Yes there will always be ways to make things a little easier, but you shouldn't have to. Its just a silly waste of time.

They have made things easier, they have 2 vendors with rotating weekly scripts.

Filer Ool in the Archive is offering these this week:
    02gwri7h0loc.png

Once you unlock it on your main you can buy it cheaper on alts. Which explains the discrepancy in Bleed and Immobilize despite being from the same branch.

The vendor in the Schoalarium does the same. It's only a grind if you want it to be a grind. You don't need to have every Grimoire or Script learned on every character, half of the skills aren't gonna be useful a specific class/role, so you only need to grab/use what you're going to feasibly use.

$40 and 5 days of inane chores later, still don't have the scripts I need to finish my PvP builds. Wow what an awesome game experience that I have this opportunity to "earn" the content I already paid $40 for by doing the same overworld PvE that I beat a literal decade ago, before overworld enemies were made of single ply tissue paper. So glad I am doing chores for robots alone by myself instead of PvPing with my friends or filling BGs pug queues.

im sure most people know that, but it changes nothing. Plus the IA ones are too expensive. If you're someone who likes these type of grinds like this then fine, if you like things like pre account wide achievements then fine, eso is play how you want. Im just saying most people dont.

I feel like you're just making excuses for bad design. You dont have to grind it, there are weekly vendors, curated drops, you dont have to get all of them on your alts. Some are good tips, but it changes nothing of the core of the issue. So quick question, if its so easy why didnt zos just make it account wide? Why didnt they make it how most people i've spoke to thought it would be? you learn it on your main, and buy it on your alt. I have an idea why they did it, but i wont post it here. There just simply isnt a valid reason why we shouldnt have been able to buy them on alts. Its just that simple.

Oh and lets not forget the account wide nerf to farming scripts, which is the most inexcusable part of this imo. Something that would have solved most of this issue. For literally no reason. The whole thing just reeks. And Its not like that with anything else except geodes in rewards of the worthy, as far as i remember. And im pretty sure theres already a cap on dallies. Without this blunder it would have been much better, not as good as just buying them on alts, but much better.

Ya they go about old content all wrong. Instead of revamping it, or adding actual decent rewards to achievements or things in older zones, they choose to do stuff like this. Its just a shortcut. And they also fail to realize that, when it comes to stuff like this, skills, people just want to get them and use them. Its one thing to put in something like psijic, grind it for a couple hours and get what you need. But this is completely different and waaay longer.

I was so disappointed to learn that scripts aren't unlocked account-wide, it seemed like a no brainer...
PLEASE put scripts in the account-wide Collections section where they belong.
