I was thinking "Escape from the Wailing Prison." :)

But as long as three of the other four endeavors are easily possible for everyone to complete, I don't see a problem.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Probably the quickest Coldharbour quest for an alt is to talk to the Groundskeeper's specter outside the Hollow City and do her "tour" quest, "The Hollow City." You can skip the tour part if you're impatient. If even that doesn't count for the endeavor, then I'm seeing why someone would be so frustrated as to hit ZOS with their recent DDOS'es, though I do not support such immature tactics. This endeavor is absolutely ridiculous in its short-sightedness.

BTW, if you want to get to the northern half of Coldharbour, not all wayshrine teleports will take you there. I recommend teleporting to someone at either the Manor of Revelry Wayshrine, or inside one of the two northern Coldharbour delves (Mal Sorra's Tomb is best, because The Wailing Maw delve will stick you in the middle of hostile territory when you leave.) I always do the Manor teleport, but I'm told the delve trick still works.

Fortunately, I have several alts who haven't done the Coldharbour quests yet. But do you need to complete the Main Quest for your alliance before Coldharbour opens up, or can you go there at any time and start doing some of the zone quests?

You can go to Coldharbour and start questing at any time. I have numerous crafting alts who've never done their Alliance questlines, but who have access to Coldharbour because that's where they had to do their writs for a while, when turn-in locations were restricted to crafting levels. (To unlock access to all crafting stations, you need to rescue thirteen NPC's in random encounters around Coldharbour, or else rescue the Great Mage and the Ayleid King.)

Edit to add: you can't get credit for rescuing people to open up the crafting stations until you complete "The Hollow City" quest I mentioned above. I have made this mistake before, and had a good laugh when I realized why all my rescuing didn't work. :D You don't have to start the Groundskeeper's next quest, but if you do, it will put you on the path to rescuing the Great Mage and the Ayleid King if you don't want to look for random rescue encounters in the wilderness.

Getting lost in TESO Tamriel and beyond since Beta 2013!
Alliance agnostic: all factions should chill the fetch out and party together.
If you ever wonder why certain official fandom spaces are so often toxic and awful, remember: corruption starts from the top. And if you don't want me to call you out for being terrible, maybe you should consider not being terrible. ^^v

You joke, but I do have a friend who's incapable of doing the "Gain a level or Champion Point" objective for the Zeal of Zenithar quest. He's at 3600, so he literally can't do it.

Fortunately, there are other options to finish that step, just like there are other options for the endeavors today.

Yeah but two of the five involve Cyrodil and ICP.

I don't see it as being as terribly bad as some of you, given that players have four other endeavors to choose from and can only complete three of them, anyway. But something repeatable like "Kill a group boss in Coldharbour," "Kill a delve boss in Coldharbour," or "Complete a public dungeon group event in Coldharbour" would have been better.

No this is terrible. You're locking out others who have completed the Zone like me. This is 100% Unacceptable.

How exactly does completing the Coldharbor zone prevent you from harvesting nodes, place furnishings, complete a survey, or kill a patrolliing horror?
