I hope ZOS addresses todays Server Lag across all Platforms

With the big New Chapter Launch coming soon. Today's Lag across all Platforms; Consoles and PC is very worrisome. I have not seen it this bad the Entire day for a long time, Getting Lagged out thrown into a 10-minute Que and freezing nonstop is rather strange. I am off work today and had nothing else to do with it raining outside so i have battled with it all day lol....

It has indeed been horrendous. I haven't seen the server's this bad in years. It seems like it was server-wide. I got one severe lag spike, and directly after a friend messaged me asking if I had just experienced a huge lag spike. There must be something gnarly happening with the hardware.

After extensive research on the dark inter webs... I found that one of the mars probes accidentally disturbed a nest of primitive hacker bigfoots. Filled with rage and a lust for blurry film they came to earth in Elvis 1(top secret spacecraft for another discussion). They sought means of communication through a popular mmo zone chat. The agency's that shall not be named are searching for.indications of these bigfeet and it is believed that it has caused a lag spike trimester server demand.

This entire afternoon on PS NA was pretty bad. Whole group I was in experienced rubberbanding and stuttering type mini-freezes while trying to farm gear in Stone Garden and mask farming in The Cauldron. I’ve also experienced it in Cyrodiil the past few days simply repairing walls.

Today looked like I had an exploit. My bear in pvp was teleporting and rubber banding all over the battleground. I just stood there spamming polarwind until I died. Fun times

I play a few hours every day on PCNA and I am still not having any lag. There has to be something more going on.

I haven't been getting any lag over the last week, and normally it's something I'm more likely to get than you lucky people playing on the same continent as the megaserver. I've had no ping spikes, rubberbanding, or non-responsive NPCs or skills not firing.

This lag even messed up my ToT game, I couldn't click on the cards, then suddenly they all played at once.

Clearly, when ToT lags, it's pretty bad.

The people not experiencing any lag are not participating in any challenging content where the issue is practically guaranteed to crop up. Heck, people are even having problems with lag and disconnect while using guild vendors and the bank.

vRGhm last night was unplayable, 3 out of 12 people disconnected 5+ times and the rest of us had everything slow down then speed up, we disabled all addons thinking they might have been the issue but it still kept happening. we also thought it might have been instance based so we reset and was still happening

edit: i have no idea how some people arent getting the lag at all, even standing in the middle of auridon next to no players while getting lore books my ping was spiking lol

XNA trying to complete the weekly on two mains in IC was slow and painful but no issues on XEU.

Screen was freezing and then getting kicked out of the game only to end up in a thankfully short queue and return dead. Reviving took ages and even after my characters were back, they couldn’t loot bodies as it thought they were still reviving. Elastic banding happened before the game carried on.

There were also delays selling items, looting/opening containers and responding to quests.

I almost never have lag. PC-NA. I experienced bad lag off and on all day yesterday but it got really bad around 6PM EST. So bad that 4 dungeons in a row resulted in everyone leaving before finishing. The lag has been getting progressively worse for over a week now. Usually when grouped with other people but also during world events (dragons, harrowstorms, etc..) with lots of other people. I also got booted from the server a few times while doing the IA. That was fun. None of my other games are suffering at all. I'm hardwired to a 1.5GB fiber connection with a very high-end gaming PC.

There is a horrid lag on PC EU - wasted two lives on IA because of said lag. Like, come on...

Dragon fights I get bad lag where all action would just freeze, then about 5 seconds later it was like all actions from mobs and players had queued up and they all rapid fired in 1 second.

Would have been hilarious if it wasn't making things unplayable.

Agreed. There was even a brief delay between hitting enter and having messages pop up in guild chat. I experienced interaction delays / skill lag and 999+ ping spikes on PCNA all over the server yesterday. Cyrodiil, crafting writs in Rawl’kha, interacting with guild vendors, interacting with my own banker, etc. Everywhere. The problem persisted even after relogging a few times, so likely not a memory leak issue. I didn’t disconnect, but multiple people in multiple guilds were complaining about disconnects and error messages.

What the heck is going on?

ZOS doesn't seem to be aware and are still attributing the issues to individual user internet issues...

This is MASS lag/packetloss/disconnects for most users connected

The lag yesterday wasn't the only issue. There were performance issues across the board. I tried logging in at what should have been a low volume hour (8 AM) yesterday and was stuck in a log in que. Then when I was doing my writs and daily rituals, I couldn't even put any items in my bank for my crafter to decon because I would add 1 item, and have to wait 20-30 seconds before anything on the screen moved. A couple of different times, I got disconnected while doing this - and I was in my own house which is mostly undecorated (only 100/600 items placed).

I can't even begin to tell you about the issues I had in PVP later on in the evening yesterday. Lag was bad, frame rate drop was bad, skills were not firing, nearly impossible to switch bars.

Server performance feels bad man. Feels real bad. I'm pretty sure the squirrel powering the server on the exercise wheel is on his last legs. It's time to upgrade.

How? I was trying to finish some quests in Reapers March yesterday, and even then, I was lagging so bad! In a low population zone!

I spent yesterday doing some dungeons with a new player, quite rare for me, no lag, skills were fine, Bastian behaved perfectly.

After that I went and did IA for the weekly on two accounts, no problems there either except for my own stupidity!

Also did dailies across all three of my accounts and swapped around quite a bit, didn't see one login queue.

Loaded my stores several times too.

I am on PC-EU and haven't seen any issues at all for many weeks as @SilverBride said earlier there has to be something else going on surely? 🤔

I was fighting and my weapons disappeared and I appeared to be fighting with my bare hands. I looked down and my ping was at a big glaring red 999+.

What's going on. I have the 4th fastest internet in the country. My city voted in the internet as a utility. We never have speeds that slow.

Akamai provides multiple entry points to get to ESO. If ESO is getting a DDOS attack, it could be just on those specific regions where people feel it. Although I feel the target IP would be the same everywhere. Probably some form of mitigation has been taken

I hardly ever have lag and had it terribly for the last 3 days or so- even at off-peak hours.

This is what is most weird to me! I played in two battlegrounds without problem yesterday, and a trial the day before.

Most of the crashes I’ve had in the past two days were while doing crafting writs. In one case, I was simply standing in the Rimmen crafting area as I paused to read something in guild chat and the game crashed. Two instances of crashes were at a world boss, neither with many players present, and in one case, the boss was not even present.

Agreed. Feels like a DDoS to me, having played other games that were being systematically attacked for days/weeks at a time.

I don't find it weird how some people get it and some people don't. It's exactly the same outside of these mass lag issues, I've had lag since u39 and my internet and all other internet services are absolutely perfect. I've also reinstalled and tried numerous other solutions to no avail.

There must be something particular to some people's accounts that makes it worse for them than others. I don't know how servers work but perhaps some of us and our information is stored and uses old hamster servers whilst others are on newer squirrel servers, so have slightly better performance and suffer less lag.

The whole thing does not surprise me in the slightest though, I've never played such a large, prominent game and had so many issues with performance like this. That's not bashing, it's just being honest.

That's what I don't understand, either. That's why I think there is more than just bad server performance going on. Could it be add-ons or Internet connection or what?

I think its time we just start submitting tickets, If they are waiting for a critical mass of users reporting the issues on the forums we'll be waiting a long time given that the issue is intermittent and not constant...

I have run dungeons and the Infinite Archive with no issues.

But as was pointed out, players are having problems even with vendors and banking. And many are lagging while just questing.

That's why I think other factors need to be considered because it doesn't seem to be just server performance.

@ZOS_Kevin Any word on this on your side? Were these issues recorded or marked down as user side connection issues?
The PCNA server feels really unstable so far, ping spikes / disconnections.
