What is your motivation to join guilds and are you active?
In game I'm in 5 guilds but only really active in one which is the trading one - and by active I mean I use it to sell items but not much more.
I am however active in several guilds on discord, because I enjoy the raiding aspects of the game. I find that nowadays most guild run their activities exclusively on discord, which makes sense because it's so much easier to organise everything and keeping track of what's happening compared to in game.
not being alone is motivation i guess?
it is nice to be able to do dungeons, trials, and daily quests with friends.
and i joined a housing guild, because i like housing.

To sell stuff and have access to a crafting guild home with the Mundus stones as well all in one place.
Currently only in one trade guild, use to be in 5 all the time, then I lost interest in making gold, could not be stuffed doing daily writs anymore.
Now I only sell what I don't need and usually deposit 100 - 200K gold into the trade guild(weekly dues are only 10K) to offset how infrequent my sales are, sometimes I bid in auctions to raise funds or I just deposit a million gold if I know I won't be online when it's being held.
I use to be more active in guild chat and would make research gear or training/low level PVP gear for members, would do my writs daily to have stuff to fill my guild trader slots with, these days though just can't be bothered I log in daily on my main, make my guild due deposits once a week, run out my enlightenment XP every ten+ days, rinse and repeat, once the chapter drops I play for a few weeks, usually stick around to max out the rapport with the new companion, then go back to the rinse and repeat, till the next lot of story content drops.
I'd have to be very active in a trials guild to join their in game guild, I prefer just being on their Discords so I have more options. My trial guilds on NA I was very active in game with and in the in game guild both shut down, one like a few weeks ago So it's just my trading guild of about 2 years and my social guild. I have 2 progs going on but not running regular vet stuff anywhere atm. Hoping to find somewhere to do gear runs and run the new trial, but I look for several specific things in guilds to be comfortable being super active. My social guild is very small and tight knit I enjoy spending time with them and not having to be super sweaty.
I don't mind paying trading fees, I pay 10k for the one on my main account, and 25k for a Mournhold one on my alt (used to be 20k). It's much better than needing minimum sales. Guilds need fees to keep their bids. Zero interest in a PvP guild bc I use PvP to chill and have fun plus don't wanna hear NSFW and misogynistic BS from PvPers, you know how they are.
Guilds at least for me have ran their course...during the early days of EQ guilds were rare and formed completely outside the game...during WoW everyone and their ugly cousin belonged to or was GM of a guild...now it doesn't really matter if you belong to one or not...I trade with folks who aren't part of a guild and items are cheaper and more plentiful...than the craziness of "Official Guild prices"
I think guilds have ran their course..at least in ESO, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "you can only buy and sell if you belong to a guild" (which is a lie) completely goes by the wayside.
Every time I point this out the Guildo's get upset at me..but it doesn't make it any less true

I'm in one trading guild (sometimes join more if I have too much to sell) for obvious reasons. Other than selling stuff, I don't really participate in the guild chat and I joined an event once (kind of regretted it).
I was also invited to a PvP guild awhile back. I joined it to maybe motivate myself to engage with more players.... so far it hasn't made a huge difference other than talking in the guild chat from time to time.
Years ago, I was in a couple more social/chill/little bit of everything guilds.... and I do kind of miss it. But sadly, I haven't really interacted with any players that are apart of this kind of thing in a long time and the ones I was in before.... well, basically all the players I was friendly with in them quit or just play extremely off and on now.
I've even tried the whole "just create the kind of guild I'm looking for myself" thing, haha. That was a big mistake. It was great for awhile and very lively, but no one wanted to lead any events and they instead all just kept asking me to do stuff.... stuff I had made clear that I had zero interest in and that I would personally never do right when members joined, I had it in the description and everything (turning it into a trading guild and trial events since I'm mostly a PvP focused player). Ended up disbanding it to keep my peace.
