Can you guys give us a heads up to the server lag.

Trial groups, especially prog ones, are getting quite unbearable. We are constantly getting lag to the point, its five-six seconds later in a fight and everything has gone to Coldharbor and back. The only reason we are even able to continue is good healers and tanks. It is not just one person six or seven people in the trial is experiencing the exact same thing at the same time and this is not just one trial either. It has been happening to everyone we know. We just would like some clarification on if it is being fixed or at least acknowledged so that we are know you guys are working on it.

My swash prog experienced this very thing last night. Ever since the PTS planemeld fix the servers have been unstable

It's happening intermittently in both pvp and pve.
Here's a vid Nes just uploaded which demonstrates it as well: https://youtu.be/1zSyt0JplRo
Doesn't seem like a purely client-side thing to me. It's too widespread.

It is happening on both PCNA and PCEU for me, in overland, delves, even the outlaws refuge in Craglorn.

It is badly broken right now. Even something simple as collecting skyshards in overland is laggy.

But the problem is , it is random. If I go to another zone, it may be fine and normal.

For a paying service, it is unnacceptable.

Comments on why the servers crapped themselves several nights this week on PCNA would be appreciated too. The likelihood that the incidents are related is quite high.

It's been all good for me overall until 3 days ago when the lag spikes started to appear for me.
Out of nowhere ping would go into red numbers, then after a bit it'd go back to normal, and it happens several times during the playtime.

Something is definitely off with server stability this week. I'm PC EU.

It makes me wonder how much server resources they transfer from the regular game to support the PTS. This seems to be a pretty common issue when the PTS is open.

It would probably be help to also share when we play and the approximate location we play from.

I play from NE NA. Here are my experiences since the network connection issues on Tuesday:

I experienced the same issues everyone seemed to during the EDT evening of Tuesday the 7th when a thread about it was created and ZOS commented on.

I had no issues on Wednesday, but shortly after I stopped playing others said issues began for then at around 2AM on Thursday.

On Thursday, I experienced 1-2% packet loss while pinging the IP address ZOS provides for troubleshooting NA gameplay connection issues. I had minor issues when I would experienced dropped packets: stutter, bars not swapping, etc. It was annoying but playable. Yet for others, it was unplayable.

Friday was perfect for me. I play grinded trials from around 7 PM to 1 AM EDT with no issues at all. I pinged the NA server throughout and also experienced essentially no packet loss (maybe 6 dropped packets out of tens of thousands through the day.) No one in my groups complained about problems and I didn't observe any complaints in zone chat.

So not everyone has been experiencing the same issues which might make it more difficult for ZOS to troubleshoot, which is why I think providing more info could be helpful. I also suggest logging a /bug ticket in game because that will give ZOS more information to work with to help them figure out what is happening.

I am on PCEU between @ 1-6pm Eastern then on PCNA from about 8-2am Eastern. The stutter lag has been appalling. I've also been kicked numerous times whether in PVE or PVP.

On Friday PCEU my mount would not sprint. Nor would my character. Skills bar would just grey out completely whether in combat or not, on PCNA there was incessant stutter lag in a basically empty CP IC campaign with no ping spike.

    Come on people....

An update would be nice. The overall lag is bad enough but the game is straight up freezing on the NA server. Not having this issue on EU.

I'm on PC EU and this week I did the Infinite Archive a couple of times in the evenings. During each run, the game seemed to freeze for around 5 seconds multiple times. When the game would finally unfreeze, the latency indicator jumped to 999 for a second while things caught up. The lag almost cost me my Inkslayer title on Friday (yes, I know I'm late to the party :)). Hopefully this can be fixed.

The lag issues this weekend make me wonder why there is no scheduled maintenance in the next few days. The game clearly needs a reboot. Either that or shut down the PTS and put those resources back to the main game. ZOS should be doing the PTS server testing in house anyway, not relying on the community to do their jobs for them.

Because there doesn't appear to be a problem with the server itself. I've had zero problems in group PVE content after the problems on Tuesday and Thursday, and this has been the case with the dozens of players I've grouped with as well. We've completed trials, arenas and dungeons with no problems this weekend.

I understand some players are reporting sever lag, but because it doesn't affect everyone, one should not conclude it is a server issue. The symptoms point to an issue affecting parts of their network at some level. Maybe it's their ISP, maybe it's their host, who knows. As players, we don't have enough information to reach a specific conclusion and guessing doesn't help, it only results in misinformation being spread.

Prime time main campaign Cyrodiil performance always sucks, but I imagine it's even more unbearable for the players affected by the connectivity issues.

I don't see how this is a server issue when I've never had lag, even the few times I've been running around Cyrodiil gathering skyshards and running delves and dolmens. There has to be something else going on.

I also had issues on May 10 (Friday). I played from about 5 p.m. PDT to around 3 a.m. PDT May 11. During that time I experienced multiple cases of flash-freezing, rubber-banding and severe freezing. Because of my home environment, I blamed my computer being too warm, but seeing these threads it looks as though I'm a victim of whatever is causing the game issues rather than my computer being the culprit. I have not been in-game on either of my accounts for an extended period of time since then though.

No it doesn't, at least not for everyone.

But one that also represents my experience over the past 10 years. That said, I've never been to Cyrodiil, IC or BGs, or trials, although I regularly do dungeons, delves and dolmens in addition to the routine overland content. I've never installed an add-on although playing on PC (both EU and NA, from the UK), and I've never been in a guild. I try and limit the number of quests I have outstanding, and don't use voice chat. I think that all these factors can influence performance, especially in respect of loading times.

While the game runs very well on the new machine I bought last Summer, it still runs just as smoothly on decent settings albeit with longer loading times on the two machines I've played it on prior to last Summer and they had middle of the road specs when I bought them in 2010/2011 with only a graphics card update in each case since then. When I'm playing a game that is the only thing I'm running apart from the usual anti-virus software and I never switch between games and browsers or other apps.

I don't for a moment doubt that some players are currently having performance issues, but I think it's a comparatively small number judging by the number of posts here, and I think the evidence points to network issues rather than client issues which tend only to affect individual players or server issues which are more likely to affect everyone.

However, it's all supposition and guesswork and I wholly endorse the call for ZOS to acknowledge the issues some are having and provide their input on it. @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno .

But it's true. I have had a very rare disconnect here and there but lag and running slow... never.

I wonder if some add-ons are causing this because I don't use any that affect my combat or are for PvP or running trials.

Someone dismissed my suggestion of add-ons causing these problems the other day, but that's another way in which a limited number of players could suffer a performance issue.

Also, the additional point I should have included in my previous post immediately above yours is that I only ever use wired connections for internet, mouse and keyboard. Wi-fi connections can give unreliable performance and I used to get connectivity problems when I ran wireless mice and keyboards years ago.

I would never, ever consider gaming with wifi if I had a choice. I've had to do it temporarily at times, and I hated it.

I assume most people are using wifi integrated with their modems that their ISPs usually install in ridiculous locations like basements because it's convenient for them.

I had problems with my isp a few months ago, and if I didn't have technical knowledge it might never have been resolved because the frontline isp tech support would always try to blow me off. It took me weeks to get the problems resolved. Someone with no experience troubleshooting networks might have believed them or would have been unable to prove that the problem was on their end. I know a lot of players have intermittent line issues because they describe having to powercycle their modems now and then, something they shouldn't have to do.

It's a fact that performance always suffers when the PTS is running, at least this has been the case in the last two to three years. It makes it seem like ZOS is running an absolute bare bones server farm to support their game, then they squeeze in the PTS by taking resources from other aspects of the game and we all suffer for it.

The players who continually claim "I've never had lag", at this point, after all these years, are simply not believable. The problem is too consistent over both NA and EU servers and to ubiquitous to claim it doesn't exist. And everyone, literally everyone who PvP's regularly has experienced every form of issue that results from lag, like rubber banding, skill lag in the 2-5 second range, health bar de sync's, and disconnecting when the problem is at it's most extreme.

In recent years every time the PTS is up, performance suffers. I'm convinced the problems stem from a lack of server resources to support the game in it's entirety.

I play a free shard for DAoC and there are lots of people with horrible lag, but the next player has no lag. It was determined on that server that the issue was the path to the DAoC server and most people who were lagging that tried using a VPN to take another path to the server totally fixed the issue.

I only ask because I have had no lag issues in ESO (minus Cyrodil where I have always lagged), nor do I lag on the DAoC server, but people I am playing with on both servers do.

Just wondering how many people have tried a VPN to see if it helps?
