Maintenance for the week of January 6:
· [COMPLETE] NA megaservers for maintenance – January 8, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
· [COMPLETE] EU megaservers for maintenance – January 8, 9:00 UTC (4:00AM EST) - 13:00 UTC (8:00AM EST)

Why is it that nonsensical decisions are so commonplace by those who "manage" this game?

You extended the event due to issues of your own making. The community was happy. Then, with very little warning, you decide to have maintenance right at reset so no one can get tickets and grind the final few hours.

Who makes these decisions? Why does no one stand up and say "wait a minute, this is probably going to upset the player base, we should probably not do this 4 hours before our 10TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY JUBILEE ends".

Honestly, it's par for the course. Decisions that almost seem designed to antagonize the player base. It makes 0 sense. As a paying customer for 10 years, it still stuns me how poorly this game is managed at times.

At least start maintenance at 10:00 AM EST when the event is scheduled to end. Come on guys and gals.

The locked out players should have their accounts restored as soon as possible. As things are, this is clearly not soon enough, but better than never.

On the other hand, ZOS should extend the event for a few more days so no one misses their tickets and the locked out players can get some boxes. They extended for 2 days because of a few hours of emergency maintenance during an event; why not repeat the gesture, for longer, because of the people who couldn't play the game for about 10 days and more maintenance during an event?

Rather ironic that the locked out players will not have any access to the Impresario, even after ZOS stated that they were extending the event 2 days... the second of which is entirely maintenance, and inaccessible to the players.

Extend the event a day to give locked out players at least one more day of Jubilee instead.

    That would be nice.

Whoa! what's with the kneejerk reaction from the community!?

Seriously though, I have to finally say "Told ya so". When the pvp community was complaining about this stuff year and years ago it seemed that the majority of the playerbase gave us a smug chuckle and asked why it was so relevant to them. I personally argued that they wouldn't feel that way about it when it started creeping into all aspects of the game. And here we are. I've watched it move from pvp to dungeons and trials, to story and quests, and now just events and general community. This is why it is so important to not ostracize one-another based on our preferences of past-times within the game.

I've been a supporter of compensation for all the accounts affected. I'm not denying you anything. I don't think a 4 hour delay changes much for you does it?

I'm fine with any solution that does not result in the event ending earlier than stated. I'm all for more event time to allow those locked out to participate.

It not only affects us as ESO players, but the way everything happened and was handled will be considered when their new titles are released, and people are debating whether or not they should reach for their wallets again.

I wonder how much of this is really by choice? I don't really think these things happen because someone upstairs is being a jerk or oblivious of the situation in the player base.

I suspect that there's a critical issue going on that they don't want the players to know about (maybe a PTS-PC NA server exploit they missed the first time around) so it isn't quite serious enough to shut down the PC NA server immediately. I think the 10am maintenance time is probably the earliest time they can get all the tech support people together to fix this issue.

You posted about extending this event for a day. Did you not? Did I misquote you? (Pretty sure that’s what the quote command is for). No, I checked. I didn’t misquote you.

You said « You don't want the event extended one day so you can participate? » to which I said, I’m pretty sure we just want our access to our account at this point.

Then you said «  And yet half the players are reporting that they'd be happy to trade places with you for 16k seals, guaranteed grind rewards, a free account with DLC, and a free month of ESO«

That answer doesn’t even make any sense in the context of the discussion.

ZOS messed up twice. Once by thinking that farming geysirs for hours on end would be a great way to generate player activity. The second time by allowing the PTS exploit. And now two sides of the community are fighting with each other, trying to discuss what's fair and what's not. ZOS managed to funnel the frustration away from their decisions and back into the community. Divide et impera... working since 1530.

ZOS extended the event by two days.

The time the servers have been down for the players that aren't getting banned has been less than that.

On April 17th ZOS said the following:

For those who are still blocked from logging in, we are continuing to work on resolving the locked accounts and a small number of accounts will be unlocked later today. To set expectations, unlocking the remaining accounts and performing the necessary rollbacks will require server downtime and at that point, all remaining accounts will be unlocked at the same time. The soonest this will occur is by the end of the week but we will keep you posted on the timeline.

As a result, it should have been obvious at some point they were going to need to take down the servers.

On April 22nd ZOS said the following:

Due to all this, in addition to already having console maintenance scheduled on Wednesday, currently the earliest we’ll be able to schedule the needed maintenance on PC NA for the rollbacks and to unlock accounts is Thursday this week. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know the exact date and time.

This hints that they intended to do the update on Thursday if it was possible.

As a result, it shouldn't be a huge surprise that it's happening on Thursday.

ZOS is taking the servers down for potentially eight hours. The earlier you start that period of time the more inconvenient it gets for the staff most likely. The later you start that period of time the more players you disrupt as you will be down during higher traffic periods.

If ZOS pushed it till Friday, they'd have a huge mess if it went badly as you would be running into a weekend.

If ZOS pushed it till Monday, they'd likely suffer more of a backlash from the people that are banned and it will likely spawn more news articles as it would be hitting the two week mark.

    There's two things I suppose.

First thing was the awful idea to lock the anniversary mount behind confettis. That made people to calculate how many tickets they needed to spend on them because you couldn't get it without tickets even if you logged in every day. So some people expected to get one more confetti and buy the rest but couldn't because of the surprise maintenence schedule. I don't know whos bright idea that was but I hope ZOS learned from it.

Second was the awful droprate on the style pages. Some still didn't get the drops they wanted (and most likely that missed 4 hours woudln't made much difference).

It's just a game but yea I can understand that people can get upset.

I think she, and the other affected folks, would rather have it extended to match the duration that they were locked-out.
Since there doesn't currently seem to be a major event scheduled for May, extending this event that long shouldn't be an issue, I would think.
It would give those folks a chance to recoup what they missed while they were unable to log-in.

I guess I'm in shock at this. They extended the event by two days, ending this morning at 10am EST, but then schedule a maintenance that goes way past that time, effectively ending the event the moment this maintenance started. IMO, this is not only a bad decision, but generates even more animosity amongst players- when it could have been resolved by extending the event until Friday- or even through the weekend- because WHO is it hurting to extend it? Certainly not ZOS, but it is certainly hurting many players who were counting on the extra day of the event.
