Maintenance for the week of November 4:
• [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – November 6, 9:00AM EST (14:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EST (23:00 UTC)
This is hardly the first time I've played a video game until my hands were sore, and probably won't be the last time. But I'd rather that be doing things that are enjoyable instead of repetitive, with a better idea of what it would take to reach my goal. If it is entirely RNG, I'd like to have an idea of what the odds are, and for the first week and a half of this event I didn't even try to grind these pages.
There are also far worse offenders out there, in regards to timed events and exploiting FOMO (like Niantic)
Was it all worth it? I got a lot of boxes doing the grind, the equivalent of doing 50 daily quests on one character each day, which is what I would have been doing anyway. In some ways it was more enjoyable this year, because getting 50 or so boxes on one or two alts did not mean diving into the armpit of Tamriel, Cyrodiil, and dodging gankers and griefers.
So while the drop rate was atrocious, I also still got purple boxes, and with that came motifs and furniture style pages, as well as rare mats, so it wasn't like I was grinding with nothing to show for it. Even the Summerset grind wasn't that bad - I was able to get the purple boxes each time as long as I kept my Fatecarver beam on the boss the entire fight.
