What do you care? Other players being given things in no way affects your game play. Not even a little bit. Either you enjoy the game or you do not and other people being able to get some cosmetics or another house should have zero impact on your enjoyment.
Funny enough that's not how MMOs work for a lot people, it's about "economy" (in broader gamey sense) and if something is skewing it or added artificially whilst other's earn stuff the "natural" way it's obviously affects their enjoyment as their time spent on some grind being devaluated.
I think you're forgetting the part about this being compensation for the affected players' loss, not a reward arbitrarily given.

I actually think that it is. I would gladly not play for ESO for 10 days and play something else. Then comeback to 16000 endevours, a free month of eso plus, and the associated crowns.
You don't sound like the kind of person to go out of their way to bugtest the game on the PTS though.
