Peak time patching

2330CET / 2230 BST, I guess probably in the top three busiest hours of the day.

Why patch it during peak time, this is

1) The complete opposite to logic.
2) the opposite to common practice in the industry.

Will it be common place in ESO where patches are applied at peak times?

Have to agree. This really is annoying.

Maybe they they servers weren't handling it so well, put it down for Maintance to tune them better and while they do that they add the patch. So patch is extra bonus from Maintance instead of the reason for it ?

It's was dual purpose. It was not a scheduled maintenance. To correct some important problems and since they were already having an outage they pushed thier current fixed list of patch. We don't know yet when thier maintenance schedule will be

It is certainly very annoying patching at peak times and as mentioned against all sorts of common sense. If the patch is scheduled and was planned for this time then someone is clearly inept. If however it is due to a serious bug in the game then just 'man up' and tell us. Folks are more likely to be understanding if you admit "sorry guys we ****ed up, gotta fix it fast" than simpy stating Maintenance or Patch Update.
  • TassenAruhn
At least they gave us notification about patch.

An indication of how long they expect the server will be offline would be nice as well. Right now I'm hoping it will be short so I keep refreshing the forums for an update, but if they know it will at least take an hour or two then it would be nice to know so we're not all wasting our time here.

I have 19 mmos of all types from all kinds of different companies and I have to say, this download speed for patch is abysmal. have no issues patching any of these others games. I don't have to go open ports on my router or troubleshoot problems that are on the other end of the beam of light.....fiber optic running 8kb/s....hoooooleeey *** lol.

so since downloading this game is complete garbage every time I go to patch it. I decided to go ahead and pre-order wildstar. It's not really my cup of tea, but hell, at least I can patch it at proper download speeds. patched up 2.4gigs of wildstar in less time than its gonna take to download 750mb here.

Edit: let me rephrase this...it completely stopped patching in the time it took to type this disgruntled customer rant

    Found this.

"The European megaserver will be offline for the update to version 1.0.1 starting around 10:30 PM BST. We expect the maintenance to be complete between 1:00 AM – 2:00 AM BST. We will let you know when the server is back online and open."

Thanks! Will have to take back what I said in my previous post then, just had to take a look at the server announcements forum. :)

Lets have a European megaserver - and then take it down during European primetime every *** day. Thats the brilliant minds at Zenimax at work, folks.

Zenimax, this is not acceptable. 7pm BST/8pm CEST and you bring the servers down for 3-4 hours??!?!

Great, it's already 4/4 in Australia. Give 'em their own damn servers then. Oceanic players will prefer the pings and you can patch them at a reasonable local time.

Move the Eu servers to the EU already so that they can be patched at a reasonable local time (3am would be good).

This total lack of respect for the players that supported you by pre-ordering is not good.

Haha, I have to say, maintenance for 4 hours at peak time is a great way of silencing the people complaining about maintenance at peak time the last day .:D

next time you invite people for PTS , make sure to invite more then thousand people. So we can actually test zones , instead of have millions test one zone , and then all the others get messed up cause they were never tested with this many people... cough cough Greenshade rollbacks for hours last night..

Um its not peak time in the USA which is:
    A) Where the company is located
    B) Where the majority of players are
  • Illud_Vindicare
Unbelievable. Server shutdown between for a period of 20:00h - 23.59h CET is a total lack of respect for EU customers. Some people with a job have been waiting all day long to play, and now they have to wait till tomorrow evening because what will servers back online from midnight on do good for most people with a job ?

I'm an IT engineer for about 18 years, service is not disrupted during productions hours, ESPECIALLY prime time. This is unacceptable.

This is beyond a joke, not only did I loose all of last night due to patching, but now, thanks for taking part in early access, we're going down for more patching.

I'm disappointed, perhaps they should have chosen the name for early access more carefully. Extended Beta seems more appropriate. And if I get a thank you for my patience one more time .. I'm not being patient at all. I want to play the game I paid to play.

Apart from the obvious rant, let's hope the patch fixes yet more of the problems and the framerate drop that was introduced with last night's patch.

I'm really disappointed in Zenimax for taking the servers down for maintenance this evening during EU prime time. I'm not usually one to whinge overly about this sort of thing but this has really frustrated me given I've now lost one of the early access days that were supposedly my reward for pre-ordering.

I'd just got home from work and immediately log in to the message saying the server would be down for 3-4 hours. By the time it's back up it will be 11 or 12 at night for me, being as I have to get up again for work at 6 that doesn't exactly leave me much playtime!

I accepted the downtime for maintenance last night even though it cut my play session short but to then do it again in prime time? Not very good planning at all. Having the EU server in US wasn't supposed to have any adverse affects for us but the fact we are continually getting everything done at the worst possible time for us is concerning and suggests at the very least a lack of consideration from zenimax for their EU customers.

If this sort of stuff continues there will be very few happy people on the EU servers.

If you people did your job right, you could have taken down the servers 4 hours ago. I feel sorry for whoever is getting cheated paying your wages.
