This does not need to be in the game

Dueled probably 10 different people today 7 of which had this skill configured to be a spammalbe with this enhancement, even with it only being every 3 seconds it shouldn’t be oblivion damage, it should just take on whatever damage type you have set as your base skill.

I'm just not sure there should be spammable executes in the game at all...

But yes I've made several posts as well in the feedback thread and another thread that this needs to be evaluated.

I don't hate the concept. But at the minimum 3 second cooldown isn't enough.

I wouldn’t hate the concept if it wasn’t oblivion damage, you have no time to react you’re just dead because as so as you get low you block/shield depending on your class, but that doesn’t matter because it auto executes you through both of those.

This is the dev's solution for blockcasting heals.

At least they should make it only in melee range and not 28m.
    Because I can!

Problem with it tho is that everybody then has to run it in order to complete. I like good skills and weapons/gear added to the game I do have an issue with stuff that gives such an advantage that in order to complete you have to do X/insert new OP thing released behind paywall. This also on top of no new content to PVP.... Bit less OP would be nice in this example 5% max health would already be a very good thing. As is it now it gives 16% of max health dmg in execute range on top of the dmg of the skill and so many other sources of dmg like another with the same skills and now its 32% of ones max health.

That's why I said I didn't hate the concept. But it bypasses learned "skills" and "behaviors".

And it goes against typical ability structure. Correct me if I'm wrong but there aren't any Spammables that have execute functionality currently. That's a bit "game breaking".

And the "uptime" of the secondary effect is very high. I was getting the oblivion effect on 2/3 of my casts of the ability when working in other skills.

But if this is gonna go live, for the love of Sotha Sil please let soul gems stack like poisons. Ive run through over 1000 soul gems in 30 mins to an hour of dueling. It would be even higher in cyrodiil. And I can't have 30 slots of my inventory be soul gems...

I think every time they introduce a new oblivion damage source, they nerf it later. I'm interested to see how the soul gem sink/market plays out with the spike in demand.

standard executes: revserse slash + morphs, whirling blades, impale, killers blade

most all current executes are "spammables" though none of them deal oblivion dmg

i would agree that the concept of this interesting, without the execute part of that line, 8% of the enemies max hp in oblivion dmg is basically a standard oblivion thing though this does not specify a hard cap on the oblivion dmg

8% oblivion is equivalent to knight slayer proc set, but knight slayer has a hard cap of 8000 dmg

im actually curious if this dmg does have a cap, and if it does it definitely needs to state what the cap is, because if you could hit an enemy with actual 8% oblivion dmg in PVE every 3 seconds, you could even nuke a trial boss in about 30 seconds

Yes but the coefficient of those abilities you mentioned do not have a "spammable" coefficient. They do let's say 20-40% less damage when used outside of the execute range which makes them not worth using as a spammable (or at least less efficient).

There is a cap on the script for oblivion damage believe it 6500~ (the 8% value I believe). They missed it on this version of the skill but it's just a UI bug.

Is the cooldown for this on the caster of the ability or the target?

Because this is the ultimate zerg bonanza for dealing with those pesky (e.g. more skilled) 1vXers if the cooldown is only on the caster.

Imagine 20 players spamming this on someone, it would be so toxic.

you can technically already do this with say knight slayer

knight slayer is 8% oblivion dmg on heavy attack, it would take 13 people doing a HA at the same time with knight slayer to nuke any player (8% x13 = 104% hp dmg)

this skill would be easier to use than knight slayer though

the execute portion could be worthless if it applies before the hard cap is applied

Maybe if it's meant to counter PvP group tanks, it could have a "oblivion damage per heal received" debuff to counter heal-stacking? Wouldn't counter 1vx tanks and ball groups, but not be as effective against tanky dueling builds. This isn't a perfect solution, just wondering what gameplay they were hoping to address with this script.

Edit: Scratch that, what about like healing absorption per heal? So like minus X from each source of healing.

People complain on damage. Just ask for cooldown to be 5 secs. Just saying the damage not a big problem it’s how short of a window to keep using. Oblivion damage goes through armor and can’t crit. So you just be doing 2-4k on a player mainly. Sure sounds like a lot but nightblades and other classes can pull off more damage in quick burst.

Yeah, but then you need to fill that gem, don't remember if merchant sold filled gems, but in current live case there is abundance of filled gems stockpile that drives their trading price down.

Now if enough people starts now burning alot of them for this execute, or the ult from other script, this will drive the demand from mediocre (only used for rezzes in combat) to kinda high (1-2 filled gems every 3 seconds of combat), which will affect market price of filled gems. Sure if you don't mind the "grind" of filling gems yourself you can go with npc price of empty gems, but most of people wanting to use these scripts will likely be hitting guild traders for filled ones instead. That is after they run out of their current stockpiles.

yeah this is how i see it, i have like 1000+ gems per toon, and another 1000+ in my bank

i occasionally sell them, but their guild store price currently is barely 32-36g each, and the NPC vendor price of a filled gem is 30g

you actually need to sell the soul gems at around 36g each in order to break even on profit from the guild store vs selling them on the npc vendor

that said, if this change goes through and people do start consuming them a lot more, their price could actually skyrocket

i dont think it would be that high because the oblivion execute would honestly be fairly useless in PVE, mostly due to the hard dmg cap on oblivion dmg and being unable to crit, it barely wouldnt even be able to hit for more than a tooltip on a spammable

but i could definitely see it being used in pvp, and thats the crowd that wouldnt be generating a ton of soul gems either (as the soul gems are more plentiful in pve)
