This is my argonian sorc, Enjoys-Salted-Caramel. I wanted to make her a caramel color, and I love the cherry blossom tattoos. I also love the pigtail fin hairstyle. I have another one, Sings-Wistfully, and he wears the bright throat skin with the nereid outfit. I just love my argos.

    I love everyone's argonians here <3

    I mostly play male elves, but I'm slowly but surely joining the argonian club after 5 years >.>;

Meet my little dude Stygimoloch, who wasn't intended to be a keeper and was just a test server character from a while back. He grew on me so much that he's going to be added to my main account whenever I finally decide what class he'll be.

I call him Stygi for short. He's based on some of my favorite dinosaurs- Stygimoloch and Pachycephalosaurus. Because I'm a shameless nerd.

Stygimoloch roughly translates to "horned demon from the river of death". So naturally, I had to make him as adorable as possible.

Here's some bad screenshots of him from the last PTS cycle. Sorry for the blur- wasn't on my main Rig at the time. I saved his sliders so I can recreate him perfectly with OnTopReplica:

    I also have a pretty intimidating looking argonian dragonknight on my main account, that I really enjoy playing, but I cant access him for screenshots right now because servers down ;_;
    Legends never die
    They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
The scars collected all their lives
When everything's lost, they pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
    Oh, pick yourself up, 'cause
    Legends never die

I like to choose styles and costumes that are consistent with their culture and anatomy. For instance, I would not wear a hood or hat that did not fit with the ears or spines the character may have. And to me it makes sense to leave the claws free. For my female Khajiit, I’ve tried to emphasize the elegance, with an outfit of mostly Sunspire motif while my male Khajiit wears a lot of New Moon. There are several nice Khajiit motifs and styles so one can make an outfit look very Khajiit warrior/rogue/noble/mage/etc. as one wishes. I am finding this more challenging for my Argonian characters, but I have created them more recently and need to experiment at the outfit station (using costumes for now).

It isn’t so different from how I seek to style most of my characters, really. Most reflect aspects of their race, class, or role, depending on what I see as most defining their character.

I read the thread title, and couldn't help this mental image of argonians and khajiits sitting at their PCs playing the game. :)

(not having a go at the OP, by the way, just commenting on how English comes up with odd phrases sometimes)

I'm an Argonian main only because of the potion passive. Fact is, I don't like non-humanoid races in any fantasy settings ever. I'm a "Fantasy Racist" purely for aesthetic reasons.

Walking around towns it seems most elven player characters are all the same, many go for similar styles and outfits. It's easy to see what's popular for them. But I'm curious what people who play as argonians or khajiit look for when making their character. I see some who have godly bright skins, others who are going for almost a blackout assassin look, some are very tribal. What do you like to choose or look for in others on those races?

I like the looks to tell a story (at least from my POV). My cats are mostly thieves and nefarious traders, and argonians are alchemists and Sithis' blades. I like to make them look ugly and conniving. And I like how there are so many ways to have a hideous look in ESO, that is also not disgusting but somewhat charming or charismatic.

I don't usually make a specific look. Rather, I make my characters be born with their own looks, by pressing a randomize button a couple of times until I get a look that looks interesting to me, and then I build a story around it.

And I love my characters all the same, no matter if they are born ugly or beautiful (I also go for it if RNG gets my characters some good looks)

I think the only race-specific rule I have for fashion is that my khajiit always wears fingerless gloves so her claws are out. Other than that it's mainly determined by their class/combat style and personal preferences, which is the same approach I have for all my characters.

My khajiit templar relies on movement for both defence and attack, so she usually wears sleeveless tops and flexible or loose fitting trousers (I know it doesn't actually matter, but I want it to look right). She does also tend to wear bright colours and a lot of purple, because she likes it.

My argonian wears dark earthy colours, not black which can actually stand out in a lot of places. She wants to be unnoticed whenever possible (yes she's a nightblade) and for the same reason tends to go for things that wouldn't rattle or clink when she's moving.

When I started out with Skyrim I was like: What the heck is that cat and lizzard thing? No way I am gonna play something like that.

Then ESO came along and I was pretty much with the same attitude. Then I discovered Elsweyr and Murkmire and now I really like both cultures. Argonian a little bit more as they are a bit more mysterious.

I usually go for a tribal or mayan style for my Argonians.

This is Xe'oka-a-te, a Nightblade warrior and proud protector of his tribe
    Xeokatahe.jpg

And this is Spark-of-hope, a templar heal just trying to bring hope and light into darkness for any dungeon or raid group he can find
    Sparkof-Hope.jpg

I have a third one Geht-voran (or Precedes aka "goes-in-front") but just starting out so no image right now as style not finished. Is a learning Arcanist. Will probably go for a mix of tribal-mage

@Araneae6537 I do this too. Got to have the claws free. Which of course meant I almost instantly went to an outfit station to change Sharp-as-Night's outfit despite him not liking it, because I just couldn't imagine those claws cramped inside those boots and gloves.

I'm often disappointed a lot of styles and costumes don't take their tails into consideration, though.

Mostly play Khajiit and mostly don't use skins as they look weird on an Khajiit.
Exception is the Hena skin one who hide vampirism and and also subtle.

When I started out with Skyrim I was like: What the heck is that cat and lizzard thing? No way I am gonna play something like that.

I had the opposite reaction when I first started Morrowind. I was scrolling through the races, a bit disappointed that they all seemed to be variants on humans or elves, so I was excited when I saw argonians and khajiit. I think I'd only played 1 other game with cat people and lizard people so they were a novelty for me.

My first Morrowind character was an argonian, but then I switched to khajiit because they could see in the dark.

Agreed, especially when it’s supposed to be an Argonian style — like the new dress — but doesn’t work with their tail at all. That’s disappointing. :/

My Argonian still has a makeshift outfit because I barely played with him yet (leveling = work in progress), my Khajiit have different outfits and temporarily change into various costumes but I mostly use those:

When it comes to my character's outfits, I've always wanted them to look like NPCs, like they were people that belonged in the World we played in. I was NEVER into those gaudy, extravagant flashy Armors. I never wanted to look like some epic Hero or Death Knight Warrior. I just wanted to be, People.

Since all of my characters are Beast Races, (except one Dunmer), I focused on outfits that compliments established Lore. What Khajiit looked like in game, what they looked like in the Elsweyr Chapter. What do Argonians look like in Shadowfen, Murkmire, and Blackwood? Then how could I incorporate my own spin on them to make them unique. I wanted my characters to fit in, but still have identity.

Here's an image of my StamBlade posed next to Queen Khamira,
      550b06db3569c7652cc9532f656a2d9dd356e541.png

Notice my overall use of Grayish Brown? With "Anequina Sunrise Orange" for the accents. The outfit is supposed to evoke a slight sense of mundane, but also style and flair at the same time. She doesn't stand out, but she grabs attention nevertheless. She fits into the scenery easily, like she belongs there at Khamira's side.

Here she is talking to Prefect Calo.
      1d0b650b4c14a78458f3f858e5fe738ad821b996.png

In relation to, this is my StamDK Khajiit. Sporting the same overall Outfit design, the only differences are the legs and the color scheme, as well as Weapon choice. With the Sword and Shield, I designed her as a Master from one of the Anequina Adeptoriums. Instead of a neutral gray or brown, her cloth is black to signify status/experience. If you want to associate that with like a Black Belt in Karate that could be appropriate.
      Y3LeR9V.png

For my Argonians, the design principle is the same exact thing. Make them look like they fit in the world, but also somehow represent their personal identities/Class themes. I have two, a MagPlar Healer, and a Magden Cryomancer.

Tsah-Zee was born to be a sacrifice, hence why she wears the Xoleel Scale skin. She was to be sacrificed to a Leviathan by her Tribe, but circumstances stayed her death. For her, a simple Costume with the Forrester's Hood is all that's needed, and a light Brown/Beige color scheme to compliment the brighter coloration of her scales.

Xeeastei on the other hand is all about Ice and Frost. She wears the same light, cloth garments that could fit into any Village, though more established than a simple Tribe. However her color scheme is all Whites and Grays, signifying her Magical Affinity.

For me, I tend to make my Khajiit by mixing and matching various (mostly) Khajiit fashions from two or more styles and in two or more weights (light/medium/heavy). I find keeping to Khajiit shoulders really helps maintain a Khajiiti sihouette.

For my main, I go mainly with the Sunspire set, then the Scalecaller shoulders for that pointy Khajiit silhouette, some Shield of Senchal boots and bow, and the Moongrave Fane swords. All in the Khajiit aesthetic but not from a single set to look too much like an NPC. Then I blend it all together by dying it with matching or complimentary colours. Match the metal trims, the leathers, and the fabrics all to each other and it pulls together nicely.

      ”Fusozay Var Var”: ”Enjoy Life”
Life is short. If you have not made love recently, please, put down this book, and take care of that with all haste. Find a wanton lass or a frisky lad, or several, in whatever combination your wise loins direct, and do not under any circumstances play hard to get. Our struggle against the colossal forces of oppression can wait.
      Good. Welcome back.
We Khajiit live and fight together, and our struggles will not end very soon, likely not in our lifetimes. In the time we have, we do not want our closest comrades to be dour, dull, colorless, sober, and virginal. If we did, we would have joined the Thalmor.
Do not begrudge us our lewd jokes, our bawdy, drunken nights, our moonsugar. They are the pleasures often denied to us, and so we take our good humor very seriously.
      Outfit slots are disgustingly expensive.
