Please don't rollback the whole server

They’re gonna roll back and part of this investigation is finding out internally how it happened.

I won’t say anything was on purpose but these types of exploits are rarely implemented by accident.

I'm sorry but fixing the entirety of the NA server that is now susceptible to the biggest economy crash in the history of the entire game (people with 1B gold and infinite mats)

You realize people already have over a billion gold right?

    It's about scale.

We need a rollback, the damage caused by a bunch of dirty exploiters bringing back tens of billions of gold from the PTS to Live has to be fixed by any means necessary otherwise the player economy will see prices double overnight, infact saying they double would be an understatement because a lot of these players would of brought back their PTS template characters who have containers which contain infinite materials, there would be a complete economical collapse.

Someone mentioned on another thread before they saw someone giving away over 200 attunable stations away for free, the fact they did not try to charge for them also implies they brought back billions of gold, that is a very bad thing.

People got the gold and mats without doing anything wrong. The people who distributed it are obviously wrong, but merely getting the gold by accident was not the fault of the players. To get it you just had to go to PTS and make a new character. That's it.

Except you are now in possession of basically stolen goods. In the real world you wouldn't get to keep that, and so players shouldn't expect to either. This will suck for people who bought the stolen mats with their legitimate gold (or whatever the terms of the trade) as they would be out both mats and gold.

Yikes! I've never been so glad to be on the console!

Sorry guys I hope things work out for you. Having to roll back the servers would be drastic.

Yes, I was mostly responding to the language of the previous post (calling everyone dirty exploiters). A rollback is still needed, but not everyone is an exploiter.

I never exploit and I didn't even know about it and even if I did I would never do it.

I'd rather they just keep servers as is and BAN all the players who benefited from using the exploit, because clearly they KNEW something was amiss. Surely there couldn't be THAT many accounts that would need to be actioned, after all, the PTS was only up a short period of time.

Not for nothing, but anyone who logged into the PTS, and then logged onto live would have benefitted, because their account would have been instantly set to 3600CP, and their collections would have been (mostly) filled out (or fully filled out, if they'd opened the appropriate containers on the PTS.)

This is a bit like saying, "hey, there's a bug with High Isle, anyone who sets foot on this map for the next 20 minutes should be banned." Yeah, some people certainly abused this, but most of the affected didn't.

"Oversight" is the word I'd use to describe this mistake, as costly as it is. The most likely event that happened is that they forgot to set a variable on the PTS server/build to use the PTS database instead of the PCNA database, a very simple mistake that any developer can make. There's very little evidence to support the theory of intentional sabotage, especially when the people directly responsible for that would usually be the first ones to get in trouble (and I sincerely hope they don't).

The very fact that the PCNA database can be accessed and modified through a completely different game build is symptomatic of a development pipeline issue. That stuff should never be possible in the first place.

This is exactly what I expect them to do...take away countless hours worth of hard earned mats and items that will actually benefit me in the game, such as perfect roe and gold platings, and give me a useless pet that I would never want in the first place...

I predict they'll only lockdown/rollback accounts that logged into PTS and everyone else won't be affected / lose anything. Who wants to take that wager? 😁

I think people misunderstand, the people who are at fault knew when they went on live and saw their PTS Template characters that choosing to log onto them would be a bad idea but they did it anyway.

Thanks you, @ZOS_GinaBruno, the devs and the rest of the team for jumping on this and staying up half way through the night to keep us updated & come up with a resolution that appears will have the least impact possible on the majority of players.

Compensation has been a hot topic tonight. I hope ZOS will consider:

    - Extending Jubilee for 1 day
    - Doing something very cool for the volunteer PTS testers who won't be able to log into Live for a while yet.

Thanks @ZOS_Kevin! And please thank your SWEs for me; I know isolating the affected accounts was likely the harder option but I very much appreciate not losing my progress!

To be fair, some of us thought it was pts back up. Others of us logged in to take screenshots as proof to send to the devs. Can't submit in game and take screenshots of the issue without logging in to provide proof
